hi guys! It's my first time posting on mousewait , and I'm so glad I found a community of people who love Disneyland as much I do! I got accepted to the Disneyland college program for spring 2013 and I am beyond excited!!! I'm also curious as to what keeps you guys coming back to Disneyland time and time again. what makes it so special to you? personally, I think it's more of a culture than a theme park...:) I would love to hear your thoughts and reasons!

For me it's the great CMs that work there that make the magic so real. It's also the way the kids eyes light up young and old and the warm Disney feeling as you walk through the gates. - Singh2011  178.6 #1918 12:33PM
Welcome and congratulations!! For me, it's the magical feeling I get as soon as I cross the turnstiles into the park! I love the music, the sights, the amazing detail in each and every attraction right down to the themed trashcans! The amazing shows! I love seeing families spending quality time together and making lifelong memories.. I just love it! - SarahJoshDisney  69.6 #3465 12:56PM
Thank you! Your reply is dead on with how I feel about Disneyland. The music, smells, people and insane attention to detail...all of it combined is what makes Disneyland magical. I actually have all the area music and a lot of the parades and firework soundtracks on my itunes. Just listening to it makes me happy :) - kimn10  3.0 #33106 4:07PM
Same here!! A couple years ago I was driving from Vegas and my bf fell asleep and I put on my Disney playlist, listened to Fantasmic and Remember Dreams Come True Fireworks and later was telling him how I picture the shows in my head and how it made me feel so happy!! - SarahJoshDisney  69.6 #3465 8:42PM

Welcome! I've always wondered...what's the Disneyland College Program? Do you go before becoming a Cast Member? And what keeps me coming back is the magic and memories I have. WoC is an example. - BrerRabbit  228.9 #1288 12:27PM
This ^^^^^ :) - mrscttlemstr  237.3 #1165 3:58PM
Thank you! The DCP is a paid internship, and depending on if you get selected to the Anaheim park or the Orlando one, it lasts 8 months or 6 months, respectively. The jobs you request to have are pretty much anything regular cast members do,,like ride operations or working at a restaurant, and you must be enrolled in a college when you apply. I know there are people who become full time cast members after they graduated from Disney college but there are also a lot of people who just want to have Disney on their resume...or they're like me and see this as a gateway to working for the Disney co after graduation. Regardless, during the DCP, you work a minimum of 30hrs/week, work a lot of the closing shifts, and you also have to take ay least one of the classes that they offer. I hope that was informative haha! - kimn10  3.0 #33106 2:22PM
Yes it is, thanks for sharing! Good luck! - mrscttlemstr  237.3 #1165 9:32PM
Haha good info to know. Thank you! - BrerRabbit  228.9 #1288 11:01PM
Congratulations! My daughter was accepted to DCP at Disney World! I love to visit Disneyland because it's the one place I can go and literally not have a care in the world! The cast members do an awesome job every day of making each guest have the best day ever!! Also I can be a kid with my kids!! - brittandkell  323.9 #520 12:30PM
Thank you! The cast members at Disneyland are one of the reasons why I applied to DCP. It's their job to help every guest have a magical experience, and who DOESN'T love making people happy?! - kimn10  3.0 #33106 4:08PM
Congrats! 2011 CP Grad - BaseballMickey_CM  2995.3 #15 12:59PM
thank you!!! I might have to ask you some questions later on haha - kimn10  3.0 #33106 4:05PM
Welcome! The reason I love DL so much is that it reminds me of my childhood. I used to go to DL a lot and then moved away. So the couple times that I've gone back brings back those wonderful memories. - jlipstone  277.2 #771 1:01PM

Hello and Welcome :) - cdeley  395.3 #343 1:46PM
Hello welcome and congratulations! I keep coming back because my family always find something new and magical about Disneyland and i feel as if i don't have to worry about quite so much when I'm in Disneyland - Tinkerbellmom4  300.3 #625 1:54PM
That is so true :) I get so caught up in the music and the atmosphere. The only reason why I don't like the crowds is because of the long wait for rides...otherwise though, the feeling of being surrounded by so many happy people is what brings me back! - kimn10  3.0 #33106 4:05PM
My son starts in January! Congrats and welcome! - PrincessKristin  776.9 #125 2:03PM
Thank you! And that's awesome! At the risk of sounding slightly creepy, will he be working at DLR? What will his job be? - kimn10  3.0 #33106 4:02PM
He's going to be working custodial, not sure which park. He wanted a job where he could move around the park AND interact with guests. - PrincessKristin  776.9 #125 8:58PM
Welcome!! Yeah, for me it's that Disneyland forces me to live "in the moment." I feel like I'm fully aware (ie not thinking of all the stuff I have to do, etc) You are right there, experiencing something right that second and for me it's almost like a drug! It's rare that I get to feel that way in daily life even though I try. It's also a time capsule of my entire childhood. Things are different but almost everything is the same. Brings me back to a carefree time. 😄 Great question! - MissMolly  705.9 #144 2:57PM
Thank you! :) You're definitely right about it being like a drug. For me, I'm addicted to the atmosphere...there isn't another place in the world where you're surrounded by so many people and all of them are just so happy to be there. And the smell of cotton candy and popcorn and turkey legs really bring me back to all the Disneyland trips I'd go on when I was younger :) - kimn10  3.0 #33106 4:00PM
It's true, Disneyland is the greatest reality fantasy there is! Plus you're among the kindest souls you'll ever meet - MarshaMouse  2936.2 #16 3:16PM
That is so true... I really feel like everyone at Disneyland, especially the cast members, are so much nicer than people you would meet outside the park. That's a reason why I never want to leave!! - kimn10  3.0 #33106 3:58PM
Welcome to the resort and to MW! What will you be doing when you get here? Disneyland has been close to my heart my whole life, and it's really the only time my family is all together having fun. I even got to spend about five months working here with my mom! Disneyland truly is a source of happiness and inspiration for all the world. - paintedflowers28  9.4 #7124 3:22PM
Thank you! :) I've been assigned to Quick Service Food and Beverage, so basically I will be working in the restaurants like the French Market. How do you get to work there with your mom? Sounds awesome ;) - kimn10  3.0 #33106 3:57PM
Welcome! We are happy to have you. Congratulations! Disneyland is pure magic for me. I am very curious about the DCP......what is required? - iteachdisney  76.4 #3376 3:42PM
Thank you!! :) For the DCP you have to be enrolled in college when you apply and meet some other criteria as well....here is the link in case you're curious! http://cp.disneycareers.com/en/default/ - kimn10  3.0 #33106 3:56PM
Welcome!(: & how do you apply for the Disney college? And is there a special program for it?(: - RapunzleFitzherbert72  11.9 #6385 3:56PM
Thank you!! And yes, there are some requirements to apply. It's all on their website :) http://cp.disneycareers.com/en/default/ - kimn10  3.0 #33106 3:55PM
Oh my goodness, thank you everyone for being so welcoming! I go to a pretty competitive/scary college and it's so refreshing to be genuinely greeted by people who share the same love for Disneyland that I have :) I will get back to all your comments later tonight, especially about Disney College-- I have a test to study for and a dorm room to Christmas -fy first! Thank you again for being so wonderful:) - kimn10  3.0 #33106 5:03PM
Your school sounds intense! MW was such a great escape for me when I was still in school.. Good luck with your exam! - SarahJoshDisney  69.6 #3465 9:07PM
