Roy commissioned the purchase if this leg in 1957. It was financed with revenue from the relatively successful The Great Locomotive chase. The leg and foot are actually solid platinum with a synthetic skin covering. Though the leg was purchased in 1957, it wasn't added to the attraction until 2009, due to objections from Disney lawyers. - Mouse4life

To clarify: some girl dropped her "single rider pass" for Matterhorn, and she thought sticking her leg through the fence was the best idea. - NotNKansasAnymor

That sounds even worse than it being a fake bloody stump. - akpoppins 243.3 #1070 6:06PM
Seriously though, a minute after I posted the pic, some mom jumped out of her bobsled yelling that her son's seatbelt (on the right side, which is the part that should be attached to the sled) came off in the middle of the ride. Really, second thoughts about this one. - NotNKansasAnymor 174.4 #1934 6:12PM
^better this ride than California Screamin. - aidensmama 336.5 #445 6:13PM
Are you serious? That's ridiculous. And I still don't understand why she is barefoot..... - Princessana08 39.3 #4013 6:14PM
^^Yes, very serious and her parents stood there the whole time watching. I was waiting for her leg to get stuck, THEN say something about that not being a good idea. - NotNKansasAnymor 174.4 #1934 6:29PM
