Good morning MW!! Hopefully I'll be at the parks tomorrow and meet some of you! Until then, we found this Disney Song book in my grandpas stuff (read about my gramps, bob jackman, on my profile) it's signed to him but we don't know by who!! It says, "Bob, thanks so much for your help. Hope you enjoy this new book." Paging Disney experts (dave? Strawberrys?)...does anyone have any ideas? Have a great day!
Looking it up, someone is selling what they call the 1st edition ( this book) but says it's from 1979 , which is really when the second edition came out. A quick look at the Roman numerals and they could see that they are really selling a 1st edition.) Anyways, no idea about that signature. Looks like a J. Then again, I don't know. Hope someone does - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1798.3 #42 11:36AM
oh dear. that was just confusing and of no help - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1798.3 #42 11:37AM
Ha, no I got it! As soon as I see it in person (going thru the stuff on sat) i might have a better idea. It's really hard to tell what the first letter is... - MissMolly 694.1 #143 11:42AM
on my iPad it gets pixelated, but it almost looks like Jim - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1798.3 #42 11:48AM
Yeah, I'm thinking Jim or Bill. Something short - MissMolly 694.1 #143 11:50AM
Did your grandfather help on the songbook? As an investigator I would suggest narrowing it down by who he was working with at the time and the folks who created the songbook. Then match the names to what appears to be a J in the first name. - Sharkgrrl19

My grandpa was the head of the music dept at Disney for 30 years or so... :) - MissMolly 694.1 #143 12:03PM
So can you tell that I'm a big fraud and I don't actually rock? So far no has noticed - Philliprocks 276.3 #762 12:10PM
Lol! Too funny PRs. I will save my judgement on you for when I actually meet you at the parks! - Sharkgrrl19 202.9 #1584 1:45PM

I couldn't resist the chance to research! It could be Jimmy Johnson, who was the GM of Walt Disney Music up until his retirement in 1975. Found this: http://disney.go.com/disneyinsider/mobile/history/legends/jimmy-johnson - Gia

Oops...he was GM in 58 and was President from 1970-75. - Gia 785.4 #119 1:22PM
Yes, Gia! I totally just found that too. I bet that's it :) - MissMolly 694.1 #143 1:30PM
Hope you find out. How cool - Mrs.mouse

I'm not a signature expert by any means, but what I have seen of Disney's signature and writing samples, it is mostly in cursive with the occasional print letter. This appears to be a mostly print inscription with a little cursive. Then again, I'm no expert!! ☺ - DisneyDavidEMT

And also the fact that Walt passed away in 1967.... - IDVandalSkipperCM 1291.2 #63 11:46AM
Very cool find. Hope you find out who signed it. - jlipstone

I would take this picture and email it to Dave Smith at the Disney Archives and see if they can easily tell you who it might be - Dave
