Hi MW! I'm writing a paper on "teaching moments" parents have with their children. I've been asked to pick a place where these moments could potentially take place, so I figured what better place than DL! Although, considering I'm not a parent, I can only assume what there is for parents to teach their children at the Parks, (manners, improving communication, etc). I was wondering what types of things you, as parents, have taught your children while at the Parks! Thanks in advance for your help! 😊

I also use the queues to work on letters and numbers by reading the signs, finding the assigned car number on the ground, etc along with manners, respect and friendliness - PurpleMoon

I am literally amazed on every trip watching all the MW minis and their wonderful manners! To watch a 2 year old see their favorite character and run for the end of the line instead of straight to the character amazed me. Also being given a sticker, putting it on then going staight to the trash to throw away the backing without being told. I think these children that frequent Disneyland have an advantage over their peers. And kudos to the parents!! - SueBayou

I can't stop thinking about this post: Conquering fears by trying something new, real vs. imagination, all sorts of math opportunities...give them a gift card and help them budget what they spend, instant gratification vs. really thinking about what they want to spend $ on, mapping skills...let them plan out the day/time management, telling time, engineering...and lessons in building the attractions, history...how the parks have changed over the years, kindness: giving away RAKs, making good food choices...that you can't eat sweets all day or you'll feel icky. :) - Darlingwendi

A big rule I've enforced with my daughter while at Disneyland is she holds my hand at all times. Of course there are exceptions to this rule since she's getting older now. I got her in that habit early just cause on those exceptionally crowded days all it would take is a second for her to bolt in one direction and become lost. - Nicole

That sometimes life is not fair...I.e. when they see other children chosen for Jedi academy and they are not. A lesson in being happy for others can be taught instead of the "why not me?" attitude. :) - Darlingwendi
