Good evening! This day in Disney history, Nov 7th, 1976. Disney Legend, Roy Williams, writer, cartoonist & actor passes away in Burbank, California. Known as "The Big Mooseketeer" on the original Mickey Mouse Club, Williams created the famous Mickey Mouse ears hat! Many of you are ear enthusiasts. Aww thank you, Duchess. This is great!! Love the pics. This brought tears to my eyes bc to me, Ears really represent Disneyland. I ❤LOVE❤ wearing them. I wear them each day I go into the Parks and with pride :D. My favorite pair are the ones that say 'hmacif' bc I was told by a CM that they could not be made. I asked another CM, Sandy @ the Mad Hatter on Main Street and she said it was no problem. I love the font and the classic Ears ❤❤ - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint

When I was around 6 or 7, we were at the park and Roy was there doing drawings of the characters. He drew Pluto for me and signed it. My favorite pair of ears are my Happy Birthday ears I got in 2008. It was the first time I had ever celebrated my birthday in the park. - Diznimom

I collect the ear hats!!! My favorite pair are the original black Mickey ones with "Grandpa" on the back and the pink Minnie hat with "Grandma" on the back. I have a pic of my Grandpa and Grandma wearing those hats and it's my favorite pic of them. After they both passed away, I got the hats with their names on the back of them made and I keep them next to that picture. 💗💗💗💗 - caramiapoohAKAface

Yes! A merchandise post! Yes, the ear hats continue to have a long legacy at the park. Its always fun to work in that hat stores and see guests' face light up as they receive their ear hat with their name embroidered on it. - BaseballMickey_CM

Always loved Roy on the MMC! My favorite ears are still the ones my mom kept for me from my first trip when I was 6 months old with my name on them. They are so tiny and they are now 37 years old!!! Aaahhh!!!! - hatgal76

It's true they are super heavy, and awkward for many. I most often put the ear hat on top of another hat to keep it on. The rest of the family can only wear them if they stand very still, mostly everyone leaves them in my back pack. Thanks for this history post. I remember watching the reruns of the Mickey Mouse Club at my grandma' s house. I never knew that Roy was the creator of the famous ears. I am sure I had ears when I was younger. I am a late bloomer when it comes to Disney. - RadiatorSprings4Ever

Love the classic ears! My favorite pair I own are simple black ones with a red ribbon bow on them and my name. Got them as a small child. I don't wear them, but have them displayed on a shelf next to my sons first ears and the 50th anniversary gold ears. - MousekaNinja
