Good afternoon! This day in Disney history, Oct 31st, 1912. "Disney animator Ollie Johnston (one of Walts "9 old men" ) was born in Palo Alto, California. He began working for Disney in 1935. During his 43 year career as an animator for Disney, Ollie worked on such films as: Bambi, Snow White, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Mary Poppins, The Aristocats, The Jungle Book, The Rescuers & The Fox and the Hound.
In addition to being one of the foremost animators in Disney history, Ollie was also considered one of the world’s leading train enthusiasts. The backyard of his home in Flintridge, California, boasted one of the country’s finest hand-built miniature railroads. Even more impressive was the full-size antique locomotive he ran for many years at his vacation home in Julian, near San Diego. Ollie also left a legacy with the books he wrote w/ his longtime friend, Disney animator & Legend Frank Thomas. Amongst his four books, Disney Animation: The Illusion of Life remains the definitive book for artists and animation enthusiasts alike!
You always brighten up my day with your posts from the College of Disney knowledge. Another good one. -

This is Awesome SMK. I have a little Disney animation in my family. A relative of mine did some work on Fantasia. He didn't know any famous animators or anything but I think it's kinda cool. Thanks for the awesome history as usual. Yer the Best! -
