Is anyone else really not impressed by Once Upon A Time? I started watching it out of curiosity, seeing how excited everyone was in the Lounge about it.. I now watch it out of pure stubbornness..I have to know what happens now! But every time during & after watching it, I can't help but focus on the terrible acting..lackluster effects and ridiculous storyline.. 😔 Please tell me I'm not the only one!!
I absolutely love the show. This season is off to a slow start but it is starting to pick up momentum. I for one think the costumes, scenery, acting, and stories are all terrific. It is almost as engaging for me as Lost was. As for ridiculous story lines? These are fairy tale characters. The show is not going to be reflective of what is possible in real life. - aidensmama

By ridiculous, I mean the always convenient loop holes (there's no more magic here..yes there is..now there isn't..then there is again!) - London-In-Wonderland 395.1 #340 10:53PM
All tv shows have an element of this type of formulaic scripting. OUAT is somewhat of a prime time soap opera. That's what happens on these types of shows. - aidensmama 336.6 #446 11:14PM
Well if you are unfamiliar with LOST, which have the same writers for Once Upon a Time, then you should know that they tend to leave a lot more questions than answering then. So I'm guessing the loopholes you are refering to are probably unanswered questions. And yes I'm probably biased but I love the show and love every single character and their actors and acting ability. As for the effects, yes they are cheesy at times, but remember its not a high budget film, so they do the best with what they got. - sleepyhead

My friend let me borrow season one on DVD. I still haven't gotten around to watching it 😁 I probably never will. - Jillian

i'm on episode 14 of season one. i'm pretty excited for now. If i wasn't studying for a midterm tomorrow, i'd be watching the rest of the season lol oh btw, Charming and Snow White are my OTP. I'll be devastated if nothing good happens to them by the end of the season. - rbeezy

I want to like the show but just haven't gotten hooked yet. I've only watched this season just to see Mulan. - iamdugsmaster

Well they girl who plays Mulan is very pretty but yes, Hook is a hottie. - aidensmama 336.6 #446 11:05PM
I still really love it. Two words: Hatter and Hook! Hominahominahomina. - LittleAprilShowers

Hahaha..! I did like how Hook referred to Rumplestiltskin as the crocodile. - London-In-Wonderland 395.1 #340 10:57PM
I started watching the pilot episode last year twice, and each time, I lost interest less than 10 minutes into it. - susieQzee

I enjoy the show, but the huge number of characters and storylines make it move a little slower than I'd like. - JustCantWait

One of the best shows on TV! You really need to watch the first season as it builds to all the craziness that is Season 2. Don't go in expecting your favorite, perfect Disney characters...the characters are written to be much more dynamic and subject to human emotions. And I agree with the comments about LOST...same writers and producers have created a series that kicks out more questions than answers. It tests your knowledge of not just fairy tales and other literature, but also the ability to let go of standard expectations. - Gia

I agree! I really like OUAT's re-telling of the classic tales. It's sort of like looking at the stories through a modern view point. - rbeezy 655.6 #160 12:17AM
This is a great show. It is a flight of fantasy that weaves fairy tails, Grimm, Mother Goose and any other proverb into a story. It's not ridiculous, it's imaginative! For example, I never even considered Captain Hook having a life before Peter Pan or how he became Captain Hook in the first place. - Boundin

I tried to watch a couple episodes when it stated, and never could get into it. But I'm not a fan of things like Harry Potter, Twilight and Lord of the rings ether... - Sweet_Irish_Cream

Oh no. Don't put Twilight in the same category as Lord of the Rings. Lord of the Rings is a masterpiece , Twilight? Well I've never been a fan of teenie bopper type of stuff. - aidensmama 336.6 #446 12:46AM
Just because its in that "Fantasy" catagoy, with creatures that don't really exist... - Sweet_Irish_Cream 2595.1 #20 12:54AM
I'm not really interested either. - kristian

I didn't start watching until the middle of the first season, and I got hooked. I still haven't watched from the beginning, and this season has started out slow. But they did just get reintroduced to the whole magic element of the show, so it's understandable. So as of right now, Captain Hook/ Prince Philip is what's keeping me watching at the moment. As well as the loopholes, they leave you wanting more :] - MEHlanie_Mouse
