I have a question for my wonderful MW family. This past Friday while waiting in the wheelchair entrance for BTMRR I noticed two small children behind the bush playing with a light and wires, I looked around and did not see any adults so I stepped out of line and told the CM at the front who kindly asked the children to leave the area and found their adult. When I got back in line the lady next to me told me she could not believe that I told a CM, they were not my kids, therefore not my worry. Do you think I did the right thing or not? I am a California state mandated reporter and trained to spot danger. Last I checked lights and wires were not great toys for kids. What would you have done?

Seems to me if she thinks it isn't your worry about the kids, then why is it her worry that you take action? She is clearly in the wrong. Too many people just stand around and do nothing in my opinion, and that is how a lot of 'accidents' happen. I don't call them accidents. I call them irresponsible/stupid people! - meridafan  1034.3 #83 12:11PM
@meridafan word. - OhanaPhoto  1413.9 #56 1:05PM
Absolutely you did the right thing!!! First of all, this is a safety issue with children and you stepped up to the plate. Secondly, you went to a CM, which is completely proper. If something were to happen to those kids, I doubt those people complaining to you would have had the guts to do anything. You should be praised. Good Job TT!! - MyPark  943.7 #91 12:07PM
I subscribe to 'The Golden Rule.' I would like to think that if my kids got away from me for a second and played with something they shouldn't be, that someone would step in and kindly say something to them or a responsible adult nearby. Way To Go keep up the good karma! - Donaldfan_532  226.0 #1289 12:09PM
If my kids were playing with wires (behind my back, which I know they wouldn't) I would hope that a responsible adult would do the same thing you did! There's no need for stuff like that! - Disneymomab  15.1 #5651 12:11PM
Seeing this from a CM view, you did the correct thing. You never know what could have happened with the light and wires and having safety as our top priority, it was the better choice to keep those kids out of the area - BaseballMickey_CM  2819.8 #16 12:37PM
I agree with BBM. It's risking their safety as well as the safety of others. Thank you for being so concerned and alert! - IDVandalSkipperCM  1290.8 #63 12:45PM
You ABSOLUTELY did the right thing. Don't even question yourself. The woman who questioned YOU, on the other hand, may need to have her head examined. Safety of ANYONE comes first! - melissa_ficent  317.8 #527 12:53PM
Safety is no accident. Yes you did the right thing - Tealtownfan  692.5 #143 1:42PM
Right thing. Responsible thing. Sensible thing. Just do (did) it! - Tom  3820.7 #7 12:09PM
It's common sense I would've done the same. If the kids got hurt I woukdve felt bad, and instead you prevented that. - NightmareKaren  277.6 #745 12:10PM
Honestly, I would have told the kids to get out of there and asked where there parents were. If they ignored I would have gotten a CM. "It takes a village". - Linzee  515.4 #227 12:11PM
No doubt at all that you did the right thing! Thank you! - ShariRenee  1505.2 #50 12:11PM
good job, the only problem here where the parents not watching their kids.as a parents my kids run around too but always within a few feet and one of us watching. the fact that you did something shows you are a caring person. It's when something or someone does harm to kids then its a big issue. I consider dl to be mostly safe but prents still have responsibility to watch your kids. don't worry i've had other kids hit my kids and when we to told the child to stop the parents attacked us. the worst incident we had was when melyssa was 6 months old and we went on haunted mansion in the elevator room and someone had their kid on the shoulder kicking there feet around and hit her in the face and he told us it was our fault for not watching were we stood - pikarich  594.7 #184 12:13PM
I hate when parents make excuses for their children's wrong-doings. Being defensive over it only teaches their kids to never cop to the truth. Parents shouldn't be surprised when their little angels do something wrong. They are kids! They're going to make mistakes and its our jobs as parents to use those mistakes as lessons on how to not do something and be honorable human beings. - moomooluvr  272.6 #803 12:25PM
I totally agree with you moo! I too hate that parents constantly make excuses. Kids will be kids if they do something wrong make them own up to it! - Disneymomab  15.1 #5651 1:16PM
I think you did good. They could have been hurt. - DebbyMouse7531  228.5 #20 12:16PM
You absolutely did the right thing. Good job! - fvbmermaid  214.0 #1428 12:22PM
Thank you all for your kind words. I believe the lady next to me was thinking that I was judging the parents, which was not the case. Children get into things, I get it but I would rather they be safe because what a horrible way to end your trip in the ER! And then since people can be awful they probably would have sued Disney for not protecting the children from the lights and there would go our Halloween decoration. I really play the "what if" game way to much! - tiggertwin  317.8 #526 12:42PM
perfect job, TT. - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  1781.4 #42 12:44PM
TT is my nickname...my whole family calls me that! I giggled when I saw this! - Minnis2Society  360.0 #388 12:51PM
I believe you did good. If they were my kids i would have thanked you. And thanks for calling me wonderful. - Philliprocks  275.8 #766 12:48PM
I agree if it were my kids I would hope someone would step in if for some reason I wasn't aware. - Roobug  4.0 #13291 1:14PM
You did absolutely the right thing. Our society is too disconnected today and not enough people take actions like you did. That woman is part of the problem of this nation falling apart by telling you to mind your own business. I miss the days when people would walk down the street and actually see the people around them instead of their phones and smile and say hello. - JDGraham  4.7 #10997 1:20PM
Thank you for caring about those children. If more would do what you did the world would be a much better place! I too am a mandatory reporter for Oregon & I take my responsibility seriously. Wish more people would do the same. Thank you! - toniasmith  263.4 #884 2:09PM
I think you did the right thing. Better you tell a CM instead of talking to the kids yourself. I'm sure that sort of thing has happened in the past. You absolutely did the right thing. - ima-pirateswife  432.3 #288 2:11PM
You did the right thing. The lady next to you is nuts. We have to look out for each other--you were not imposing at all. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  435.8 #283 2:24PM
I too am a mandatory reporter and would have done the same thing. That lady is crazy! - BakoDisneyDude  225.1 #1299 2:29PM
