Good Afternoon! This day in Disney history, Oct 18th, 1967. Disney's 19th animated feature film "The Jungle Book" has its general release. Rudyard Kipling's classic tale of the jungle is the last animated feature personally supervised by Walt Disney (who passed away during the film's production). Directed by Wolfgang Reitherman, the film features the voices of Phil Harris as Baloo, Sebastian Cabot as Bagheera, Louis Prima as King Louie, George Sanders as Shere Khan, Sterling Holloway as Kaa, Bruce Reitherman as Mowgli & Clint Howard as Junior. The song "Bare Necesseties," written by Terry Gilkyson, will be nominated for an Academy Award. Below is the original theatrical release poster. What's your favorite part of this Disney classic film?
When the monkeys kidnap mowgli and replace him with a monkey and balloo doesn't realize he has a monkey on his belly. That always makes me laugh! I'm laughing now just remembering! - Philliprocks

I can't even tell you all how many times my kids watched this on VHS when it came out. At least 2-3 times a day for months. I really love this one very much. When I was young I got to see Louie Prima & Keely Smith along with Phil Harris perform in Vegas with my "connected" family. - splashphotoCM

What I would give to have seen Louie and Keely in Vegas - ScooterMike 1959.8 #37 4:23PM
I have posted this before, but my dad knew Louie Prima very well. As a kid, my brother and I would go visit him in Vegas and got to sit in on his shows. Kids weren't supposed to be there, so he would personally escort us in and his guards kept an eye on us. We would go to his office and he would sing to us. This was when the movie had come out, so it was pretty cool to have "King Louie" as a friend. I have lots of fun stories about him, but some I shouldn't tell. - snowwannab 355.3 #415 5:19PM

"The Jungle Book" Is one of my favorites. "Well I'm the King of the swingers yo, the jungle VIP...... I've reached the top, and had to stop, and that's what's botherin' me oh......." Awesome. I knew today would be a great one, it's my day in history too. Thank you, Duchess! - GrumpyPirateDad
