On October 16, 1923, Margaret Winkler was struggling to find a distributor for her "Felix the Cat" cartoon shorts. Afraid that she might loose the rights to Felix, she made a risky decision and hired a young cartoonist, Walt Disney, to help her create a new series of cartoons called "The Alice Comedies". With his creativity, Walt was able to mix live-action with his cartoons, creating something that had never been done before. This agreement between Walt and Margaret Winkler officially started Walt into the entertainment business, thus, calling it the birth of the Walt Disney Company! Happy Birthday!

Back in the twenties she gave permission to Felix Chevrolet to use Felix The Cat for their logo. They could use for free as long as the dealership kept the name. The giant Felix neon sign is stll high above Felix Chevrolet on Figueroa in LA. - ScooterMike

Pretty incredible beginnings to Walt's story. The first piece which led to Oswald the Rabbit to getting the rug pulled from him by the distributor to then taking that shock to come up with...yep...Mickey Mouse. Hapstance! - campy
