hey guys last week was one of the hardest weeks of my life...my lil guy got diagnosed with autism and I've been having a hard time accepting it so this week I decided to take him every day to dl and ca so he spend time with his "buddies" like he says

Twelve years ago they tried to diagnose my son with autism. I refused to believe it and always kept him challenged and pushed to do his best. This year he graduates high school as valedictorian, president of two different clubs, and on his way to the Air Force Academy. Don't get disheartened, the diagnosis does not need to be a limitation. - AdamCumming  114.3 #2830 11:10AM
Do not think of it as a bad thing. You were blessed with a beautiful child that just so happens to have a little special attribute to him. I have a brother who has Downs and as much as it saddens me, everytime he laughs or smiles it absolutely brightens my day because I know it's true. You will learn to accept it, just give yourself time. You'll also see just how much support really is out there. All my love and pixie dust sent to you! - AshleyLynn22  747.6 #136 11:09AM
Also if you EVER need a friend, I'm here for you! 😊 - AshleyLynn22  747.6 #136 12:05AM
Pixie dust to you. If you need someone to talk to, I have worked in the Autism field for a while and I always have open ears. Good luck to you. - tiggertwin  317.8 #532 10:41AM
I am In the middle of hving my son assessed for autism, i know how emotionally draining it can be.It can be very difficult to cope with the initial diagnosis, but now that you have that diagnosis you can get him started on the treatment he needs. Best wishes and many prayers to you and your little boy. O yea..... And .have a wonderful time at Disneyland! - Princessana08  39.3 #4019 11:31AM
I am going threw the same thing with my daughter. The school gave her a assessment said she is autisic like but they cant "diagnosis" her since they are nt drs. So she has an appt 2morrow to see whay next step we have to take. Im glad I am not the only one :) - minniel0verâ„¢  204.8 #1562 1:39PM
I am shocked that the school would tell you that minniel0ver without being seen by the Dr. My heart goes out to all of you guys. The important thing is to be your child's biggest advocate. Do everything you can to make sure your child's needs are met. While my son does not have autism he is communication handicapped and as a parent of a child with a classified handicap we are guaranteed certain things to ensure the receive the best education and services possible. - aidensmama  336.6 #445 11:43PM
Feel free to DM me if you want resources, support, have questions, or want to cry. I am a spec ed teacher and i have worked with kids on the spectrum for ten years. It is hard news to hear for sure. But it isn't a dashed dreams sentence, I promise:) he will still have an amazing life because he has a loving mother! - templeclan  54.8 #3664 11:03PM
Also, dont do too much research right now. Overwhelming! - templeclan  54.8 #3664 11:08PM
So glad you and your little man have the parks to help you through! I have a much younger sister who was diagnosed when she was 2 and I remember vividly taking her to the parks during those early years of it. It was difficult sometimes and embarrassing too occasionally but her absolute love for all things Disney brought a whole new magic to the day. If you would like information on available resources and the accompanying processes for you and your munchkin or have any questions or if you just want to vent feel free to DM me or my mom @BamB :) we'll be thinking about you two and sending pixie dust your way. It's incredbly difficult to process at first but it becomes normal life before you know it. - makingmemories  162.7 #2116 11:28AM
Autism is still a mystery. In my opinion the human brain is really starting to evolve. You just have a genius waiting to bust out! Adam provides a great example of what can come out of this.✨✨✨✨✨✨ - mightymike10  271.6 #814 11:39AM

I'm glad your able to take your to disneyland often. We get to spend one day of our trip with this family in November and can't wait. Lots of hugs to you both. - Tinkerbellmom4  296.4 #629 11:02AM
You're both in my prayers - tish  260.4 #910 11:42AM
Sending my prayers your way! At this time my daughter was assessed by the school with "autisic like ways" so we are have our first appt 2morrow with the dr to see what our next step is to get a diagnosis. I know its hard and we worry about them and their future. But I truly believe that everything God throws at us is for a reason and its nothing that we cant handle. Not sure if you have a Guest assit card. This def makes the trips with me and my daughter sooo much more easier and def make the day less stress on her. And we both are able to enjoy. She still has her moments but not as much :) - minniel0verâ„¢  204.8 #1562 1:47PM
I have a sister with severe learning disabilities. I am blown away by the words of encouragement that were posted. It is just reminder we are never alone. God bless you and your family. Praying you will find the right answers and help you need. - RadiatorSprings4Ever  136.9 #2493 10:47PM
Sending lots of prayers for you & your cute little boy! - blondemommy  215.4 #1414 11:01PM
My son has had autism for 22 years now. He was the reason we bought the APs. Disney is a to die for place where we work on social skills and have fun. Be strong, know what you want for your child, and don't give in to negative. You are not alone. - Plumiegirl  3350.3 #10 11:55PM
My son is 20 and we keep buying passes. It helps him so much. He is severely autistic. Autistic kids have beautiful minds - jojoy329  3.0 #26285 12:03AM
