My daughter had to have a vcug test performed last week & the only way I could get her calmed down & wear the hospital gown was to put one on her Minnie & Figuero too! Plus I promised her that we would go to Disneyland as soon as the test was over & that's exactly what we did! I usually don't post a lot or ask for help but if can send positive thoughts & prayers for my sweet girl I would appreciate it! She had a renal ultrasound done after having 3 uti's that found she had hydronephrosis on her right kidney & her left kidney could not be visualized. Her vcug showed that her bladder is abnormal in form and they couldn't see a definite reflux on the side & her left kidney still could not be visualized ! She is on constant antibiotics now, goes to the urologist tomorrow & her MRI is scheduled for next Monday ! I promised her Disney tomorrow after her urologist apppt, she truly loves Disney, it's one of the only things that make everything all better!
My stepson was born with Kidney Reflux..his urethra was twisted and knotted and wasnt allowing the waste to be removed from his body which poisoned his kidneys. It wasnt discovered until he was about 2 1/2 as to what exactly it was. He had surgery to repair it but still ended up with his kidneys failing. He was put on the transplant list at UCSF. At 5 yrs old he had a transplant. He just had his 6 year anniversary of his transplant with only one rejection scare which was reversed with medication and steriods. So whatever you do..don't give up! Kids are amazing in what they can handle! I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers and hope they figure it all out quickly. In the meantime keep your chin up! Oh bless her little heart. We are all too familiar with VCUG's, really horrible awful tests!! We have had kidney reflux and I now have only one functioning kidney because of it. One time I took a portable DVD player in and put it up by my daughter's head with a Disney movie, it helped so much. Another time they gave her something to make her very sleepy. The vcug was pretty awful! I had Mickey mouse clubhouse playing on my cell for her during it! I'm so worried because they aren't able to see her left kidney and her right kidney shows hydronephrosis and they couldn't see a definite reflux on her right side so still not sure why her kidney has hydronephrosis ! We are currently going through this also with my 5 month old son. His symptoms (uti and super high fevers) started at 6 weeks old. He has had the vcug and has a MAG3 test tomorrow. Surgery will be needed at some point for him. Prayers and pixie dust your way for your little princess! - AZDisneyfam

Oh no! I am so sorry you are going thru this too! My daughter had uti's with a high fever and constant vomiting! She didn't start getting them till she was 1 and it took the drs a long time to figure out it was an uti ! Now that I know that her urinary anatomy is far from normal I am obtaining my ultrasound reports from when I was pregnant to see if they caught anything then! When I was four I was hospitalized for three weeks. One of the few things that made it better was they let me wear my Ariel pajamas. It's weird the things you remember. I'm sure you're daughter will be grateful one day when she looks back at how much you love her and how hard you tried to make everything better. Keep your chin up, mom!
