I have a question about pin etiquette...on my last trip I started to collect some of the pins that I like and plan on getting some more on my next trip. I want to display them on a lanyard to wear in the park, but I'm not interested in trading. Is it ok to wear them if you don't trade?
Of course it's ok. I would suggest you buy locks for your pins if you haven't already. That way they don't fall off. - MsSpeedMcQueen90

Yes it is. I do all the time. Since the black rubber pin back can sometimes fall off, I've invested in a few packs of locking backs for the ones that are definitely non traders and my favorites. - TikiJOSEsWingman

Absolutely! I have my favorites on my lanyard and keep my traders separate. You control the trading with CMs 😄 have fun with it!! Also a MWer, strawberryguy, created a great book for whiners about pins. I suggest you look it up for kindle 😉 - minnieMisty

Occasionally in the park someone will ask me if I trade my pins. Most people are very polite about it. If you don't want to trade, just nicely say no, I'm sorry, I don't trade these. But trading is FUN! You might consider bringing some you will trade. Who knows, you might get something cool. - MyPark

Hope this helps: put the lanyard on a table top or countertop. Take the Allan wrench and unscrew the side screw half way. Place the locking pin into the pin back. Tighten the pin back with the Allan wrench. - BaseballMickey_CM 2859.4 #16 2:13PM

Make sure your locking backs are firmly seated. I have experienced the locking backs twisting and ending up loose or popping off. I usually wear a pin or two on my lanyard that I wear to trade, my keepers are secured to the lanyard with the locking backs. Have fun!! - MrsMears

I trade as well. I have my lanyard filled with pins I love that way whoever I am trading with can see what kind of pins I normally collect. I make sure to politely let them know they are not for trade. I have one of those little bags they sell in the pin stores for about $25 and keep my traders in there :) Happy collecting and trading! - SammyJo
