Is there an age limit for dropping kids off at the park by themselves?
According to Disney Travel they must be 7 or older...but, here is my question to you why would anyone drop there children off unattended...the CM's are not babysitters....just saying... - dawna

This has to be a joke. I'd say 15, 16 minimum. My rule growing up is that if I could drive myself there, I could go unattended. Within reason, of course. - ladylikesdisney 921.5 #95 9:20AM
What! Seven is still too young. - thestalkerNIN 334.9 #446 9:31AM
Seven? That is crazy! My two are 10 and I will let them go on rides alone occasionally and we designate a meeting spot nearby for when they are done- but I would never drop them off like that! - applecore 283.4 #703 9:32AM
What? No way, as the mother of a 9 year old and Third Grade teacher.... I say that is way too young! - IBelieveInFairies 254.1 #969 9:37AM
I'm having a hard time believing Disney would establish a minimum age to be left alone in the parks. - Linzee 515.1 #227 9:56AM
Never ever going to happen! My kids are old enough now (19,18 and 15) but the 1st time they ask to go to the park by themselves or with their friends my heart will break (other than Grad Nite)! We have never gone to DLR without them! - mrscttlemstr 236.7 #1142 10:31AM
7 is crazy! I think I was 13 the first time I went alone with friends. It also depends on the maturity level of the kid. - LaneSparrow316 846.9 #106 10:51AM
I didn't go to the parks by myself til I was 17. I think 7 is way too young to be at DL by yourself - PrincessMacy 501.0 #237 11:13AM
I think 7 is how old kids have to be to ride something by themselves without sitting next to someone for example. Hopefully that's what Disney meant! My son is 7 and I won't let him
cross the street by himself much less go to DL! π± - MinnieMousewife 569.9 #192 12:30PM
^ This! Just to ride a ride not be alone in the park. - SueBayou 2012.0 #34 12:32PM
Psh I'm 21 and still go with my mom and dad :) cuz I'm cool like that :P - AnaheimsMom 230.6 #1228 4:56PM
I dread the day that my daughter just wants me to drop her off. - ScooterMike
1959.8 #35 9:14AM
I agree! When my son tells me to drop him off it will be a sad day for me. That means he is growing up and is too cool to hang out with mom ξ - thestalkerNIN 334.9 #446 9:35AM
Not all kids go through the "too cool" stage. Don't worry. My daughter took her first trip to Disbeyland at 16 with me...even walked arm in arm. βΊSure, I could always find ways to embarrass her, but even at almost 18, she has never shunned me. π - PeachKay 310.6 #554 10:21AM
I wouldn't leave them alone unless they are very responsible and over 18 .... It's a crazy world ..... I love Disneyland but still some weird people there sometimes ....... I'm very over protective tho with my babies :/ - Pixielynn
21.6 #4909 9:16AM
As you should be...there are stupid crazy people out there! My girls didn't go on there own until they were 17 and 18 and they still went with a school group. - dawna 286.9 #685 9:27AM
I let my kids 12 and 17 go by themselves for a couple of hours, while I take my 7 yr old on the rides she likes. We have a meeting spot. My 7 years old needs to stay with me! This is a crazy world!! - LizOβ’
470.0 #257 9:43AM
But at least you are still in the park. - mrscttlemstr 236.7 #1142 10:35AM
^Yes!! I would not let them go alone. - LizOβ’ 470.0 #257 11:18AM
I think this is a parental decision. My brother and I were allowed to run around the park at about 12 years of age. My parents felt safe because of all the security they have. There are plain clothed and uniformed security around. - KissDclown

Meh, start 'em off young at 3. - Alicewhoareyou
535.8 #209 12:12PM
πI'd die if I saw a pack of 3 yr olds running around the parks. - mochamistie 272.8 #798 12:24PM
Piggybacking-I didn't let mine go alone till she could take herself. She was 18 and I asked MWers to keep an eye on her!! Lol - SueBayou 2012.0 #34 5:02PM
Those darn three year olds... running around with their sippy cups, wrecking havoc in fantasyland ^_^ - KylaShea 533.2 #213 5:59PM
I waited until they were college age - ladylikesdisneysmom

Yep. The first time I went to DL with just another friend was a few days before my 19th birthday. - ladylikesdisney 921.5 #95 9:23AM
If you trust them to babysit and/or take the city bus by themselves, you can trust them to be ok at Disneyland. Just have very specific time and place you will be picking them up. - JediTrance
71.1 #3382 9:24AM
oh HECK if mine are ever taking a bus. Times are weird now. it's not them that I do not trust. - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1762.5 #43 9:27AM
I don't even like my city bus! lol - mochamistie 272.8 #798 12:25PM
I used to visit amusement parks with just friends starting my freshman year in high school....I think it depends on your kids. I'd choose solo Disney trips for my kids over other amusement parks tho. - DumboGal70
86.0 #3190 9:34AM
but this also depends on your age. Was your freshman year 2 or 20 years ago? - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1762.5 #43 9:49AM
I would be willing to let my son go by himself once he is in high school. That's when my parents leg me go alone. A small child should obviously not be there by themselves. I couldn't even imagine my 8 year old wandering around dl without me. Well, I could imagine it but it wouldn't be pretty. 15 or 16 would probably be appropriate depending on the kids maturity level. - aidensmama
336.3 #440 9:39AM
I'd say at middle school age. I started going to amusement parks with friends at 6th grade. In huge groups and no need for chaperones. - kjcoloma

We didn't really let our daughter venture on her till she was a freshman in HS and even then we were in the park at the same time . So many things could happen . - snakeinmyboot40
270.2 #819 9:45AM
I would never let my kids be unattended at DL there are so many psychos out there they even have there own website to know where the kids will be at I saw it on a special one day. In my city the parents let there kids walk to the store and I think how dumb of them since there has been attempted kidnappings :/ - princessVanessa

first time we went without a parent was when i was 17. some guys tried to get me and my friend to go outside the park to their car to drink :/ obviously we said no, but i can attest to weirdos at the park. - OhanaPhoto

Glad you did the right thing. - E-Ticket 771.6 #127 10:18AM
it was, we were pretty naive, and thinking back at it now, who knows what their actual intentions were. it's way worse now :( - OhanaPhoto 1413.9 #56 10:18AM
I was about 14 when I went without the mama bear. I had a friend with me. It really does depend if you know your kids are ready for that - xtigerxlilyx

Many a 12/13 year old with their pass holder buddies are dropped off. I think they still need supervision but I have heard parents say they do this particularly when the school has a day off but parent has to work - Plumiegirl
3320.3 #10 10:13AM
I just really don't think it's a good idea ..... I have a son who will be 13 and he is a very good kid but I don't think I would drop him off... Maybe when he pays for his own pass and is in high school he can go on his own lol .... I think sadly we need to keep close eyes on our kids these days ... Times have changed for sure! :( - Pixielynn
21.6 #4909 10:20AM
I thought that the 7 age minimum was just to ride alone. I can't believe Disney would allow kids that young into the parks unaccompanied by an adult. Plus the age 7 is just a minimum for the rides, the child still has to be "ready" to ride alone at that age and height restrictions also apply. - minniebru
3.1 #26010 10:22AM
Yes I believe this also. We did single rider for splash and they asked my niece how old she was before letting her go. - adventurerEnDisneylandia {AED} 263.6 #881 5:13PM
They asked my 8 year old his age too before letting him ride alone on the Matterhorn. - aidensmama 336.3 #440 8:08PM
Maybe dropping them of with a teenage babysitter may be wiser. Just a thought... - JEDIminnie
14.1 #5804 10:56AM
I'd say entirely dependent on the kid and maturity. My friend and I were about 10 when I first ventured the park by myself, and we had a blast. - OkapiC
124.6 #2648 11:23AM
Why, EVERYONE is a kid at Disneyland! The age limit is 200, after that no more Disney for you! Oh wait... Did you mean is there an age that a child must be to go to the parks unattended? My bad... π - SPandEvLover

A few years ago my wife and I were on T.S. Island in the pirate cave. An unattended 11-12 year old boy tried grabbing my wifes chest. I had to yell at him and tried to find his parents. I think he was there alone. - ParamedicClinky

I was 12 when I went with a school group, but they let us buddy up and go off on our own until 10pm. Worked fine until I panicked and left the park, thinking they'd left without me! ππ worked out fine, and this was before cell phones. Maybe 10 years ago, I went with a school group of 9-10 year olds and I had a group of about a dozen girls with just me, no parents. I didn't lose anyone, lol! - bluefairy

About the same age as dropping the kids off at the pool... - NotSoDapperDan
303.3 #591 6:27PM
I remember when I was a CM this was a problem..Parents would drop off their kids at the parks after school until they were off work and the parks was estentaily their day care but no adult supervision and little kids like 6 and 7 and they would even find kids taking naps alone on the Island and other places in the park...Kinda distributing - Dave

We have a theme park here in Colorado that way also. We don't even go anymore because it is so bad. Kids of all ages running around parentless. It's kinda sad. - minigirl1156 411.7 #314 8:09PM
We had a similar problem in WDW. Parents would drop their kids off at the honey I shrunk the kids playground and leave for the day. One couple left their 3 and 8 year olds there while they went to dinner at Epcot. Not ok. - lostgirl7988 541.3 #208 8:56PM
Minigirl, for a split second I thought you said that the little kids were pantless! - Vegan7LuvsStitch 798.6 #116 9:03PM

I think if a CM finds a kid they should call the cops...... No way that's legal :( so sad!!!! - Pixielynn
