What is the easiest way to ride RSR for the first time with a 6 yr old? Fast pass or take off sprinting when the gates open?

you have to pretty much sprint doing either fastpass or direct ride. it's kind of a toss up, knowing you want to ride w/ your young(6-y.o.) child but if you are able to, you can ride the single rider in less than half the wait usually. i've seen ppl lined up for F.P. prior to opening & FP wait was 35 minutes & they still ran out.
