Update from previous post... My cheap eBay pins. 21 of the 25 pins were fake. Thanks to strawberryguy for the education!
I think disney should use your book as a cm training guide. Its very disappointing to trade a real pin for a fake from a cm. I need to get your book so this never happens again. - skywalker661

All of these pins are very common to see on CM lanyards and sadly they're mostly fakes - BaseballMickey_CM

True, I've seen the silhouettes, the Donald ones, and the different colored Mickey on lanyards a lot. But I do like that Cheshire cat one - sleepyhead 370.7 #386 9:32PM
That one I believe is a scrapper... :) - lampwick 291.1 #680 9:33PM
I thought my Cheshire cat pin was scrapper but my looks a lot better then that one. - elayne 112.4 #2912 9:57PM
Hmm I just bought a set today from eBay, - Goofyhat 12.2 #6307 10:04PM
So they didn't have the stamped official pin trading on the back ? - jmza4
243.4 #31532 9:35PM
most of them do actually... - lampwick 291.1 #680 9:40PM
Humm even if you have bought them in the park ? That's crazy how you can tell . I may need to get that book . - jmza4

I've never bought a fake pin in the park, I have traded for them several times before I was educated. I have heard of Scrappers getting through to the stores in Disneyland but only once... - lampwick 291.1 #680 9:55PM
I've collected and traded pins for years and it breaks my heart to see pins like these. What is Disney doing about his situation? It's all fine and dandy that we can spot them, but something needs to be done. - dolewhip4me

Some CM's know and won't accept fakes while others don't and do... :( - lampwick 291.1 #680 10:00PM
really? the ones we had looked pretty good (I checked them) - BaseballMickey_CM 2992.2 #15 11:10PM
I'm no Disney pin expert by any means but these just look fake to me. - ShannonAzevedo

Some pins are real but just look kind of fake from heavey trading... The other 4 from eBay were all real but really scratched up from heavey trading. :) - lampwick 291.1 #680 10:07PM
shansnangel must have bought the book. And didnt read the post caption lol - madsdad 1209.6 #68 10:10PM
I read the post caption, I know he said they're fake. I was just stating that to someone like me who is no expert by any means can see that they just "look" fake....like if my daughter were to be trading I would guide her away from them :) - ShannonAzevedo 151.3 #2312 10:17PM
It should be noted that all these pins in the picture were purchased through eBay. I currently only have three fakes from in park tradding. :) IT's good to be educated especially if you are like me and have invested a little bit of money into tradding. :) - lampwick

While it is a bummer to get a fake pin, I just want them to look pretty good quality wise. If I found out most my pins were fake it wouldn't bother me too much cause I collect pins for memories sake. I do appreciate everyone looking out for each other though. Way to go :) - DisneyRose

Indeed... a memory is a memory! If a trade brings you back to a special memory in the park then it's worth more than gold! It's just important to know this stuff if you're going to be serious about collecting and/or trading :) - lampwick 291.1 #680 10:44PM
It's also important to keep fake pins out of circulation... :) - lampwick 291.1 #680 10:46PM
I bought the eBay lot too when my kids first started trading. 😁 Now that I know, we keep them at home. - RadiatorSprings4Ever 166.9 #2092 11:08PM
Please tell me how to spot the fakes? - DumboGal70

there are many ways. But the best way is to look into our "How to Spot Fake Pins" book - BaseballMickey_CM 2992.2 #15 11:09PM
BaseballMickey is beyond right, get the book. It has so much good info...could end up saving you in the long run! - fvbmermaid 214.0 #1463 11:30PM
If you're interested in pin trading, it'll be the best few bucks you spend! - lampwick 291.1 #680 1:27AM
21 out of 25 are fake? That's a really bad seller! - RapunzalK

Yep... Writing a review in the morning! - lampwick 291.1 #680 1:26AM
I have to thank Strawberry guy again. If it wasn't for him sharing his knowledge I would have unknowing kept these pins in circulation. And like I said before, if a pin is special to you, let it be special to you... :) This is to help out people who are really serious about trading to beware. - lampwick

is there a way to spot them while looking thru ebay? i have yet to buy any pin... but i saw one on ebay and liked it... but now i might reconsider buying something online. again i think i would buy something just cuz i like it... but i'd hate to support fakers. - joybells

For the most part not really, most fakes look ok at first glance unless you know what you are looking for. Look for reputable sellers with lots of positive feedback. Unfortunately even with that you run some risk buying sight unseen - Pixarprincess 531.5 #220 9:20AM
Most of the cheap lots that seem too good to be true, usually are. - LaneSparrow316 846.9 #108 9:49AM
It's buyer beware... Even the seller I bought these from had good reviews. Either people were post fake reviews or they didn't realize they were fake. I bought 25 pins for $25.... Thought it was a great deal, but if it seems too good to be true then it probably is. :) - lampwick 291.1 #680 10:05AM
I have a feeling people just don't realize. - LaneSparrow316 846.9 #108 10:28AM
i agree, i don't think people realize it. i didn't, until hearing about @strawberryguy's book. - OhanaPhoto 1578.3 #50 10:36AM
thanks guys! i think i'll stick to looking for stuff i like in the park. - joybells 210.3 #1517 11:00AM
They don't... I didn't until a CM at the traidng post told me to watch out fo rfake pins, but she didn't tell me what to look for and what to do whith them. Then about a month later I bought the book. :) Most people can't believe there would be fake pins, but there is enough of a market, especially online I guess. - lampwick 291.1 #680 11:01AM
