When Do the crowds start to die down after Christmas? Would new years day be a good day to go? Thanks!
Seems to be good after...around the 7th I think. My birthday is the 5th, and it always seems busy around my birthday, we end up going later in the week. 😊 - Sweet_Irish_Cream

Christmas overlay stays up till Jan 6 this year. New Years day is busy, but still maneuverable - GoofyMom77

Thanks so much. We are planning to come for Christmas to see family and our 3 year old hasn't stopped talking about our trip from May, so we have to do another DL trip too, it's not an option! I just need to know so we can go and not be miserable like we were on memorial day! I will plan the trip around it! - disneymommy0910

If you were miserable on memorial day then the week after Christmas will be torture. The only saving grace is that it won't be hot out, but could be quite cold. Since school isn't back in session until that second week of January you'll find heavy crowds that week. Christmas to new years is the busiest time at the parks. Hopefully it won't seem so bad since the crowds now split between the parks. - Krissy Marissy 411.0 #316 3:46PM
We went New Years Eve & it was unbelievably crowded!! It was the same on the 1st. I agree that towards the 6th or 7th would be your best bet! - GrimGrinningAmanda

Personally I would plan a trip with the 6th being my first day in the parks and then have a lot less crowds, however, several of the attractions will close so the decor can be taken down, like HM, IASW to mention a few. - splashphotoCM
