Tonight when the boys were getting off space mountain at Magic Kingdom, one of my boys asked a CM, "Why don't you guys have Ghost Galaxy like Disneyland back home?" So we learned that they don't do any holiday overlays. They don't decorate their small world for Christmas like Disneyland. They don't do Nightmare Before Christmas at Haunted Mansion and they don't do Ghost Galaxy like back home. They said that their locals don't really like change to take place at any of the parks and they complain quite loudly when they do make changes so they try to keep things status quo. Also, you cannot get a dining discount with your premier pass like back at home. You have to buy a separate dining discount card. You learn something new every Disney Day!

The way I heard it, WDW isn't "popular with the locals" the same way it is here at Disneyland. That would seem strange that they would adhere to the fans. Here, if we complained about something Disney was gonna do...they'd still go ahead and do it. lol - NotNKansasAnymor  174.4 #1934 6:34PM
WDW doesn't season change? - PiratePrincess03  103.8 #2991 6:38PM
It boils down to the annual pass base. What we have here is gigantic compared to the AP numbers in Florida. - lostgirl7988  541.5 #208 6:39PM
Plenty of people work for WDW and don't need annual passes. 😜 - bluefairy  627.1 #174 9:01PM
No overlay and more importantly no dining discount. Got it! Thank you :) - 559MickeyLover  266.9 #856 6:40PM
There's no place like home. - Alicewhoareyou  536.0 #209 6:41PM
And how! - PrincessDuckie  587.9 #187 6:43PM
^^Hey, that's my line! ;) - NotNKansasAnymor  174.4 #1934 6:45PM
There are some dining discounts with your pass but it is limited. The Tables in Wonderland membership is $50 and still only gets you a few more places and no counter service. But you do get 10% off at Earl with your AP!!! - TinkerAli  218.6 #1370 6:42PM
More reasons our park is far superior ;) - tuesday737  1076.5 #78 6:43PM

My son's b-day is in December and I took him to WDW for the first time during his day. I was shocked by the lack of holiday decor. The most you see is the light thing at HS. They have that Xmas party which is nice, but I remember thinking that DL does way more. - Lelundrial  341.2 #429 6:56PM
I heard it's because Disney World brings in more tourists who want to see things they way they are expecting whereas Disneyland brings in a lot more locals who like to come out for the overlays and changes they make. It makes sense if this is true. - goofykriskid  34.8 #4180 8:35PM
Quite. Our demographic of locals dominates the tourists. - BCC  4640.8 #5 8:44PM
Disneyworld gets more international tourists as well and would complain if the haunted mansion or small world were closed for a couple weeks at a time. - disneyrunmom  167.6 #2039 8:51PM
Disneyland (home) is the best hmph :) - PiratePrincess03  103.8 #2991 8:58PM
U can get discounts for food. But it is only on some table-service restaurant and during a certain time and day. - otilegna  862.2 #106 8:52PM
