Disneyland in 19 days! Now the big question: we have a 4yr old- to stroller or not too stroller? Experienced MWers I solicit your expert advice fir this Disney-Mom novice
i vote yes. place to put drinks, snacks, jackets, and any thing you may buy. And a place for little one to rest, unless you plan on carrying them :) But choose what works best for your family - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint

Do you think it is worth it to rent the ones there? We have a smallish car so trunk space will be at a premium. - templeclan 54.8 #3655 10:41PM
yes. that's what we did. also, bring a bandana to tie around handle to spot it easily. CMs often move them around - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1780.8 #42 10:51PM
Oh, I forgot about the wonderful convience of having a cup holder that most strollers have. Also, it's easier (IMO) for adult to walk around when they can push something on wheels. It's kinda like a walker. - aidensmama 336.3 #444 10:56PM
HMACIF I thought you said to tie a banana around the handle. Lol. - aidensmama 336.3 #444 10:57PM
How much do the cost to rent? - templeclan 54.8 #3655 6:25AM
Personally, I wish it was acceptable to push an 8 year old in a stroller. I loved when my son was 3-4 and I could put all my stuff in the basket of the stroller while walking around and only had to carry stuff on the ride. Little feet get tired faster and it can certainly help take away any complaining that may occur from their legs being tired. I vote for using one. - aidensmama

I have a big double stroller, LExi is 8 and she still goes in it. I would rather have people look at me then her whining, or getting trampled in crowds! - Minnis2Society 360.0 #388 10:50PM
Thank ALL! For some reason i can only reply. This was super helpful. - templeclan 54.8 #3655 10:51PM
Now I'm wishing I still had a stroller. :) - aidensmama 336.3 #444 10:58PM
LoL. I just feel "safe" with my strollie!(thats what the kids called it when they were little) - Minnis2Society 360.0 #388 11:12AM
We still bring our jogger for my six year old. She gets super tired half way through the day so its wonderful to have. Plus at end of night my nine year old sits in it with my six year old on her lap and they both fall asleep. :) I do watch out for people walking and don't run into ankles though because i don't appreciate being run onto by strollers. - Tinkerbellmom4

Ok I thought it was just me going to let my 7 year old in the stroller sharing it with my 4 year old ! Ok I don't feel dumb now lol . - jmza4 239.0 #31532 7:55AM
I figure whatever works for my kiddos is best. Yeah we get a lot of looks but my nine year old is only sixty pounds and if they are tired I don't think they should be miserable. ๐nice to know I'm not the only one also. - Tinkerbellmom4 296.0 #631 9:18AM
If you take it and don't need it, will you be willing to push around an empty buggy? OR, if you don't take it and need one, will you be willing to fork out money for a rental. You just have to weigh out the pros and cons and decide what's best for you. - LittleAprilShowers

Husband and I have some great memories of wandering the parks and Downtown Disney long after our daughter had fallen asleep in her stroller. I say bring it. - Linzee

Unless you want to carry a tired, cranky, sleepy 4 year old ๐it would also come in handy to hold jackets, drinks, etc ...๐๐๐ - Alicen_1derland

My 4 yr old makes it through the park without a stroller just fine but its whatever works for your family ๎ Maybe buy one of those cheap umbrella strollers during your trip then raking it off to another family to save yourself trunk space on the ride home for all your goodies - DisneyMe2Death

You know your child better than anyone else. Can they keep up the whole day or at some point are they going to konk out? If they are going to konk out then you'll be happy you had the stroller. - goofykriskid

I always take some sort of stroller usually for all my stuff rather than my six year old lol! But she uses it too sometimes lol๐ - montanadj

Before our second trip to DL I researched like crazy due to limited space and a tall 5 year old. Graco IPO umbrella style but a little beefier๐. Holds a child up to 75lbs. This last Summer we did got our moneys worth. And it will be there for us for Halloween๐ - TigrLvnMomma

Bring the stroller!!! Or swing by target and by a cheap one- or have one shipped to your hotel from amazon. Stroller is a must!!! - pageamDsnymom

I really think it depends on the child. My 2 boys are night and day. In my honest opinion, if you think he/she might be ok then forego the stroller. I always thought it just slowed us down. - mserikam

Stupid question, but DL is like HUGE right? We have an amusement park here that is pretty big and i always end up carrying her out.... Do they have places to park them? All these unknowns! Not good for a control freak:) - templeclan 54.8 #3655 10:43PM
yes. places are marked with Stroller Parking signs :) - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1780.8 #42 10:52PM
Rent one the 1st day you are there--15 bux--if you find you don't need it just turn it in. If you find that you do need it you can rent each day or hop over to Wally World to purchase an inexpensive one. I understand the control part and fear of the unknown! - OhBother 202.7 #1586 9:02PM
I think it's personal preference...I never used one, seemed more trouble than it was worth but others find them invaluable...you'll have a great time either way :) - cdeley

Stroller. I have a 3 and 5 yr old. Always bring my stroller for when they get tired and to store all our stuff. - jenirva
25.7 #4599 10:39PM
Hello there personally I take the stroller depending on the situation. If I take the three year old, I take it. If I take the six year old I do not take it. But that's because we don't spend more than 4 hours there. If I plan on being there for a long period of time I take the stroller. This way the little ones have a place to nap on our way to the car. It also comes in handy for placing our sweaters. Drinks. Etc.
Good luck. I hope you have a magical time. - PrincessMermaid

I brought a stroller until Lexi was 6, and still bring it if we are going to be there all day and night. SHes 8, they always have somewhere to rest, and I can keep all my "crap" in it. There is plenty of stroller parking and alot of times. I will "park" it in fantasyland and go on all the rides there. I am a big stroller fan. Also if it gets really crowded like during fireworks, or walking out at night, you can put them in and not worry about them getting lost or trampled! - Minnis2Society

Sometimes I wish I had a stroller for my 9yr old. I know, I know he's way to old but it's a ton of walking to keep up w his teenage brothers. My back n feet usually kill me by 8p.m. I can only imagine what he's going through. I vote responsibly stroller ing. - 559MickeyLover

Yes ! We have 11 more days till our trip ! And we are talking a stroller . We have w almost 5 year old and that's a lot of walking for them ! - jmza4

I would take or rent a stroller. It's a lot of walking, standing, hand holding. You have long periods of standing at shows such as WOC and fantasmic. If you go from start to finish you are looking at 12hrs of all this. - girlzstylin

Never used, and don't see the need. If the kid gets tired, sit down somewhere and relax. - Lelundrial

We had our first stroller free trip when my daughter was 5. It was wonderful!!!! I think they get in the way. And the kids are just in and out all day. I just carry a backpack (one that my Hubbie doesn't mind carrying) and we take turns carrying the it. Plus I don't like my kids to fall asleep in it on the way back to the hotel. I HAVE to shower my kids after Dland....NO MATTER HOW TIRED THEY ARE. So I feel sorry for them if they fall asleep in the stroller then have to wake up to shower :) - QueenRobin

Totally just pictured that critter on Finding Nemo (in the tank). Lol I know but its early & Monday. - 559MickeyLover 266.9 #855 8:21AM
If I wasn't too old, my strategy would be to have a kid every 3 years, so I could always push a stroller! LOL. I would definitely use it for a 4 year old! I hate carrying things. So nice to have a stroller for that. Our youngest is 7 now, and I wasn't sure how it would go this summer, but she did great without it. Daddy's back was a little tired from carrying a backpack with all our water and other things, though. It was nice not to have to keep track of the stroller too, but still nice to have it for storage and with a 4-year old, I definitely vote YES! Another idea is that if you are planning to go to the parks for several days, you might want to use the stroller one day and then try it without once. Definite pluses to both to using one and to not using one! Oh, and not sure how much they cost to rent or how many days you plan to be at the park, but it may be worth it to just purchase a stroller once you are down there and use that...if it's cheaper than renting for several days. - meridafan

Thanks. Rentals are $15 A DAY! We will be there 4 days soooooo thinking we will just bring ours - templeclan 54.8 #3655 7:26PM
Definitely do it. If the little one gets tired, it'll save your back ;) plus you have storage and I think you can sometimes move around the park quicker (as long as you aren't running people over) ;) My little one wants to stop and go into every store possible so stroller is the way to go for me. - figzchic

Bring the stroller. I miss the days when I didn't have to pack everything. I've seen people pushing kids of all ages, including some that are probably in the double digit age range. Plus, as others have mentioned, you can pick up a cheap umbrella stroller to save space when travelling and is easy to fold up for train/tram rides. - justme2012
