Good morning! This day in Disney history, Sep 7th, 1997. Disneyland's CIRCLE-VISION, which offered daily showings of America the Beautiful, the last film Walt Disney worked on, closes in Tomorrowland. Take a tour around America by watching the eleven movie screens that form a circle above your head. The screens are perfectly synchronized to show the 16mm films, surrounding you w/a 360-degree view. This building is used for Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters today. Do you remember this attraction? For more info about this attraction: http://is.gd/fpq5vq on the app version, to make link "clickable" click "detail" on the bottom of this thread.

I totally remember this attraction, it was my Dad's favorite as he loved to drive and travel by car. He would have loved Carsland. Every trip to DL included this and Great Moments with Mr.Lincoln. Yes the screens were used for Rocket Rods. You actually walked through the old queue of Circlvision which displayed many of the old vehicles of closed attractions like the People Mover, Skyway, Rockets and Autopia Cars. I think they were trying to hide how long the lines really were from the outside, cause it really chris crossed inside the old attraction. It was sponsored by Bell telephones and I always remember going in the large phone booths and making phone calls to someone on the speaker phones, we thought it was so cool. - splashphotoCM  880.9 #100 10:20AM
Of course being older than DL I remember just about everything since we went the second week it opened. lol - splashphotoCM  880.9 #100 11:00AM
Thank you so much for adding that awesome info! Were the vehicles in the queue accessible to the guests? Or blocked off somehow? I think something like that now would be an amazing photo opportunity! - Duchess_SMK  3253.7 #11 12:56PM
Our family did the same thing! Amazing! - Sandy  238.9 #1123 3:47AM
Who else remembers hanging on to the railing while turning the corner on that fire engine?? - Bo22  331.1 #466 9:23AM
Yeah, I was going to mention the trip on the fire engine. I always loved that. Also, the booths you could sit in to make a group phone call to family or whoever, it didn't matter,it was just such a cool thing because you were doing it from Disneyland! - CVDisneyland  256.9 #934 9:51AM
I absolutely remember the firetruck scene! - Grindcore  325.4 #501 11:41AM
Another memory! My parents loved this and we would go on every visit. I liked the entrance area where the state flags flew. Their would be a CM there, asking trivia questions about the states and where people came from. The interaction was great. We would always go the phones after and call my Nana...thinking back now, it makes me giggle that we thought the 'concall' was so futuristic! - Gia  782.1 #119 11:14AM
Hi Gia! I would have never heard about the cm triva if you didn't add that! Neat! What was this "concall"? - Duchess_SMK  3253.7 #11 12:52PM
There were glass booths as you exited the theatre with seats. They had a pay phone but no actual hand piece to hold. You spoke and the mics in the room picked up your voice, and the person you were speaking with had their voice on a loudspeaker so everyone could hear. - Gia  782.1 #119 3:14AM
I LOVED this! I was always fascinated by it. Thanks for reminding me of a DL treasure! - MrsSchnooks  571.2 #192 9:22AM
It sounds like it was pretty amazing! Thanks for taking the time to comment! ;) - Duchess_SMK  3253.7 #11 9:35AM
I remember going in there as a kid with my family. My father loved it since he worked in the film industry. As the years past, it got a bit dated and less people came to see it. Sure wish I could see it one more time. - ScooterMike  1959.8 #35 9:23AM
What did your Dad do in the film industry Sir? I'm very curious! - Duchess_SMK  3253.7 #11 9:56AM
We used to spend a lot of time there when our tickets ran out. - mimsy18  207.9 #1519 9:24AM
That's right! I read that this was one of the few attractions that you didn't need a ticket for! - Duchess_SMK  3253.7 #11 12:45PM
^^ ditto i remember screen in rocket rods when you entered the main room and a faux video of future transportation. - pikarich  587.9 #186 9:25AM
How cool! - Duchess_SMK  3253.7 #11 12:45PM
I loved going in here as a kid. Was so excited to see Circle vision again at Epcot when I went. - shadowgamer  1954.3 #37 10:02AM
Neat! I hope to see that someday! - Duchess_SMK  3253.7 #11 12:47PM
I loved America the Beautiful!! But at least now we get Soarin' Over California. So that is a nice substitute. But the Circlevision was very cool!! - meridafan  1034.1 #83 10:11AM
I was just thinking that soarin sounds like a similar theme to this! - Duchess_SMK  3253.7 #11 11:07AM
I don't remember this in Tomorrowland, but have seen Circle Vision out at WDW - BaseballMickey_CM  2806.5 #16 10:14AM
Lucky duck! I'll get to WDW some day! - Duchess_SMK  3253.7 #11 12:48PM
Thanks Duchess! When I saw Circle Vision at WDW I thought it reminded me of something I saw at Disney, but couldn't quite pull all the memory out of the old brain ;) love all your posts, takes me back :) - piratelife4me  328.8 #476 10:25AM
Thank YOU for telling me you enjoy them! Hoping to check it out at WDW someday! - Duchess_SMK  3253.7 #11 12:49PM
I loved this and I wish they had kept it. It was neat listening to my mom name all the places on the screen. - SammyJo  348.7 #414 11:06AM
Awe! What a fun memory! - Duchess_SMK  3253.7 #11 12:50PM
I loved this attraction. Anyone else remember the Lombard Street scene? - Grindcore  325.4 #501 11:40AM
Yes! - SUUZinOC  715.0 #140 12:23PM
I remember this and wasn't a fan cause you had to stand the whole time. - SUUZinOC  715.0 #140 12:22PM
My parents loved Circle Vision! As a kid, I didn't like the standing too and recall climbing/playing those blue leaning rails when no one was looking. The A/C in there was nice too for those hot days. - DisLUVney  333.5 #452 12:37PM
Made me 🌀 - E-Ticket  771.7 #127 12:29PM
I for sure remember this attraction. My dad loved it and my mom could not even go in there. She get really bad motion sickness and that attraction made her really sick. But there isn't much at Disneyland that doesn't make her sick. But I really liked it!! - 2mousears  16.1 #5508 12:48PM
I totally remember this. Thanks for the flashback. - Linzee  515.3 #227 2:38PM

I remember this as a child. My parents loved it. My brother and I would lay on the floor and watch. It was nice to relax and cool off during the summer days. - MousekaNinja  331.2 #464 6:10PM
