Okay, so earlier today just before Disneyland had closed Matt and I were in line for Peter Pan. While in line, a young girl(about 11 or 12) was talking to her mom and gestured to my lanyard filled with pins. I then chimed in and told her more about pin trading and could tell she was interested in pins more than she was sharing with her mom. I then went through my traders and picked a duplicate mickey pin that I already own. I then asked the girl to do me a favor. She nodded right away and I said, "don't trade this, but this is for you to start your pin collection." The young girl and her mom were so shocked and kept thanking me. The mom even said that I had made their day little do they know it actually made my day to make the young girl smile.
Great story. It reminds me when we went on vacation to DL back in August. We love pin trading and stopped by Big Thunder Ranch to check out the trading boards/books. There I noticed a young man by the name of Justin who was with the Kids of Courage organization. I noticed that he kept looking at my lanyard and all my pins that I had. The caregiver with him said "oh he likes your pins". I asked does Justin have pins to trade?.. he said yes but not as many as you have. So I asked "justin would you like some pins so that you can continue trading?" He said "yes".. So I pulled out a ziplock baggy of a bunch of pins that my son and I were going to trade on our trip. My son says mom give him the whole bag. So I gave it to Justin. His reply was "oh WOW all these for ME?" I said yes they are all yours.. Enjoy and trade them. I was surprised when he stood up out of his wheelchair and walked a few steps towards me and hugged me. He said "Thank you so much". It was so very touching to be able to pass on my pins to someone who could really appreciate them. Made our vacation that much better to know we passed on some disney magic to someone else. Brought tears to my eyes when he hugged me because I wasnt expecting it. - flores509

I love to hear stories and also share stories... I wasnt trying to one up you, promise... Just made me remember our last trip to DL. As for my son, he is 12 and loves pin trading.. I was so happy when he decided he wanted to give his pins to Justin. It really made my sons day. He said mom that is what disney magic is all about. I have more pins at the hotel. I want justin to have these pins. - flores509 200.3 #1631 2:24PM

no way did I see you sharing about your story as one-uping mine. I am so happy you shared yours! I love having these moments and knowing I'm not the only one who does the same thing! You are definitely raising your son right and I hope my little bum in the oven would react the same way as your son! - SammyJo 348.7 #418 2:30PM
Love stuff like this! My 9 year old and I try to do something nice for a stranger every trip. I want her to realize how lucky we are to be AP's and go whenever we want, and that some people save for years to go once. - cinderelli

we give out trader pins all the time to kids that show interest in our lanyards. Last trip we gave pins away to 2 girls visiting from Israel with their grandmother. They thanked us over and over again thru the entire Space Mtn Queue.=) a few dollars well spent to see how happy the girls were. - Mandathewitch
