Question for all of the MWs out there who do not live in SoCal. When you plan your DL trip do you usually use a travel agent or do you book flight and hotel/park package seperately? I think we are going to use a travel agent this time. It just seems easier and we are getting a good deal through them.
First thing you should know, if you didn't, you do not pay to use a travel agent. Some agents or agencies might charge a small fee for large trips, that require a lot of work. Travel agents are knowledable and often times are able to have access to fantastic deals from vendors. I live in NorCal, and I do not use an agent for my trips to DL, but I encourage folks that live a few states over or are out of the country, to utilize the services of an agent. They do all the work for you, so you can just enjoy. :) 😊 - DisneyFanZoe

then why do they have a business where people are paying them and it ain't no small fee - AZDizFan 8.4 #7340 1:08PM
😊😊 I'm often boggled by the misunderstanding people have of travel agents. How are experts in the travel industry a bad thing to turn to? Crazy... - DisneyFanZoe 1096.7 #75 2:55PM
I wouldn't normally consider a travel agent but used one for our coming trip. Flights you don't get much of a deal and pay the travel agent I think but we got $30 off our tickets booking through an agent and the best part was our hotel which we got at least $300 off for 8 nights compared to the cheapest I found online. On top of that you pay for your room up front and don't have to worry about it when you get there as well as if anything were to happen your travel agent would deal with it and you could get your money back. Just because you find it online doesn't mean you get the best deals lol. - DaisyCrazy

What's a travel agent? LOL. We NEVER use a travel agent. I do my research on the internet and piece our vacations together to get the best deal and experience for the price. - NurseDisney

You do not pay travel agents. - DisneyFanZoe 1096.7 #75 12:52PM
uh sorry they do get paid, have fam members that are and they're not getting paid cuz of their good looks - AZDizFan 8.4 #7340 12:59PM
Of course agents get PAID, but the client does NOT pay them. They are paid by the commissions they make from the vendors. - DisneyFanZoe 1096.7 #75 2:48PM
Pretty sure you only pay travel agents for plane tickets everything else is commission from the vendors. Plus you can usually get the best deals available. I also must add that by taking jobs away by doing things "yourself" hurts the economy and more people will loose jobs as businesses cant afford to keep up with costs (photography, travel agents etc) And I'm saying this as a general comment not a attack on your post :) - DaisyCrazy 255.1 #956 1:10PM
From when i have done it, the travel agent still has to go through the disney website we go through. We booked through costco one year and seemed like a great deal. - DisneyVacationLover

No need for a travel agent. Use the Internet for flights and Priceline for hotels. Travel agents can't get better pricing on DL tickets than you can on your own. - MyPark

I tried the Disney website then booking a flight but it really wasn't that much cheaper. With the travel agent price we get flight, transportation to and from the hotel, room and tickets and a character breakfast for $1000.00 per person. Getting there on a Sunday and leaving the next Sunday. - Cinderkelly

If you are out of the US I would say use an agent, otherwise do some research and book it yourself. Package deals are usually the best value, IMO. - Linzee

Yea no way! I plan it wayyyyyyy in advance and wait for airline tickets to get super cheap and buy. Plus we go during the week when crowds are lower and hotels cheaper. :) you don't need a TA to do that - disneymomma87

I just booked our DL trip myself after getting a quote from a travel agent. They were charging $1000 more than booking it online myself. Why pay more than you have to? - PrincessDelaine
