 668.3 #261 (DL Qual #193

Aug 26, 2012 10:57 AM  Disneyland Talk Land
During our last couple trips I noticed several adult guests wearing costumes inside the park. While talking to a CM I learned that DL lifted the "12 and under only" rule regarding costumes. When I heard that I remembered the lady from England who was denied entry because she was dressed as princess like her daughter. I still think maybe it should just be kids. Should costumed guests take pics with other kids? I saw that happening with a Peter Pan guest. Opinions?

BTW~ I also asked a security guard why guests are allowed into the park with clothes that are extremely revealing after seeing a woman with a dress so short when she took a step her front area was showing. His reply was "We can't tell people what to wear!" As she walked down Main St. not a pair of eyes wasn't on her. One of the Dapper Dan's was a little distracted. I asked if DL is private property how can they not implement their own dress policy. Restaurants give no service for no shirts, no shoes. Security reply "You live in California. DL has gone to court many times over this and basically CA courts say people can dress how they want, where they want." I left it at "Wow, yet my friend was denied entry for having a gun on his shirt even though guns are all over the park." He said that's different. Lol. Ok. But the guy with the "I want some weed" shirt was ok. I loved the stricter park rules of yesteryear. - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 12:05PM
Hopefully she was wearing undies right? - Plumiegirl  8572.8 #3 12:24PM
oh good gravy! - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 12:54PM
I once saw a young lady wearing a pair of shorts where her cheeks were literally hanging out. I am not easily offended but not come on, use your brain. It was Disneyland, not a nightclub. - aidensmama  340.1 #642 12:54PM
Plumie~ if you consider dental floss thong as undies, then yes. I have a pic.lol - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 1:03PM
maybe she was gonna stand up on the deck of a POTC boat while her friends took endless flash shots? - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 1:07PM
Romec..text moi 😜 - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 1:07PM
Churro. I just pictured that in my head. lol - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 1:43PM
Feel free to text me said pic. - donnievegas  1132.6 #138 1:49PM
I really hope she wasn't showing off her topiary gardens... - NotSoDapperDan  323.8 #712 2:12PM
Oh, and a DT Churro?? - NotSoDapperDan  323.8 #712 2:24PM
It's just common sense. Even in my offensive punk rock days, I went to DL without the offensive attire. It's DL! You just don't do that! By the way you can forward that pic to me for further analysis. - mightymike  272.8 #1048 2:34PM
You took a pic?!? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ You are my hero LOL - SPandEvLover  3482.8 #34 2:43PM
Yes I did. Men were practically stepping on their tongues. - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 2:46PM
We need our own site like the People of Walmart (is that the name? I could be wrong) but for Disneyland hahaha - SPandEvLover  3482.8 #34 2:52PM
Smarty its lile the pic i have of that lady i saw with her cheeks out pushing a stroller a nd her hubby at her side. I did show you thst right? - ScarfGirl  638.6 #281 2:56PM
It's not just vulgar--it's also unsanitary! I see girls with near-bare bottoms sitting on the benches and seats in dining areas and rides. It's really gross! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  574.3 #320 3:39PM
lol @ SOS!! Thanks. Now, I won't be able to go on attractions without a tarp. - Alicewhoareyou  1567.9 #90 3:40PM
SG~ hahahaa. I member!! - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 3:43PM
Alice, just go fully-clothed and you'll be fine, haha! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  574.3 #320 3:45PM
*spray sanitizes every attraction seat* - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 3:47PM
I'm sure I will be attacked for having this opinion, but today's swimwear is no more, and sometimes much less, coverage than the average woman would get from a bra and panties. I've nit seen it too much at dl, but the FL park has waterparks, and I know they allow it there. We don't go to waterparks because of this (and also because skin cancer runs in my family). As to the costumes, I hope it doesn't catch on, and I don't think it will - LittleAprilShowers  560.5 #328 3:52PM
They always think I'm in a Flynn Ryder costume. But I wear normal clothes. Maybe it's because I'm so darn handsome? - Mouse4life  1293.1 #113 11:15AM
Howdy - PinkElephants  745.7 #226 11:33AM
It's the smolder. - FantasmicFan82  188.9 #2036 12:50PM
πŸ‘†πŸ‘πŸ˜‚ - mousekepuggie  155.8 #2535 2:31PM
The costume rule is only lifted during Mickeys Halloween party, as far as I know. Yes, I've had to deal with some guests trying to create their own character meet and greet in an area and we've had to stop them. Also, Disney doesn't like to have unofficial characters (adults dressed up) in the park - BaseballMickey_CM  6854.1 #9 11:21AM
Great to hear that this is not true. - Duchess_SMK  5936.5 #14 11:24AM
Hmmm. Interesting. One guest was dressed as Ppan and the other was Wendy. Some park supervisors? saw them and didn't say anything. It was pretty obvious they weren't 12 yr olds. - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 11:38AM
Romec, that was me and Michael. lol - Alicewhoareyou  1567.9 #90 11:41AM
This Wendy was tall. You don't fool me! - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 11:43AM
I would not, not, not want my child interacting with some stranger dressed up as a character that has had no training or background check. Adults should only go dressed up at the Halloween party, otherwise it's just creepy and confusing. - erincredible  207.5 #1815 12:32PM
Unless it's Halloween Party time I think it's weird for adults to dress up in full costume at the parks. - donnievegas  1132.6 #138 11:23AM
killjoy! - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 11:24AM
DV is becoming a curmudgeon - Mouse4life  1293.1 #113 11:27AM
Amen! - Duchess_SMK  5936.5 #14 11:29AM
I don't even know what that big word m4l used means. - donnievegas  1132.6 #138 12:21PM
Means GRUMP - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 12:51PM
I agree with spoonfull o sugar that it's inappropriate for teens and adults to wear costumes except for Halloween. I get very irritated at the way I see people dressed in the parks. Drug or sexual content on shirts, half dressed girls, see through clothing, mini skirts that show their undies, shirts that are so small they could qualify as a bra....I don't understand how such in inappropriate clothing is allowed in the parks. If Disney can control people in costumes why can't they control a dress code? - UmFromUmbridge  258.4 #1191 2:43PM
I don't know if it's true or not, but if it is, I completely disagree with the policy. Character CMs at DL have gone through extensive training on exactly how to BE that character. I think random guests posing as characters just creates a huge opportunity to destroy the excitement of other guests (children AND adults) when they see the "fake" character acting out of character, so to speak. - jmgphx  323.1 #716 11:08AM
I would think the "Character CM" who told me was pretty sure since he walks around with the costumed DL characters. another character CM with him confirmed that DL changed the policy a couple months ago. - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 11:11AM
*thinks of the costumed pics Donnie has posted * - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 11:19AM
Donnie is opposed to "Full Costume" he's ok with partial face only costumes. Haha - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 12:14PM
I don't walk around with the masks on so ya can't count that. - donnievegas  1132.6 #138 12:24PM
No opinions? Now that's a rarity in here! LOL - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 11:17AM
I think everyone's at the park - PinkElephants  745.7 #226 11:19AM
girl, I am doing housework! - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 11:20AM
It was added to the rules-FAQ page this morning. No opinions allowed. - Mouse4life  1293.1 #113 11:21AM
Lol not me. I need to do housework, not feeling so great :( - PinkElephants  745.7 #226 11:22AM
what ails you, child? - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 11:23AM
That made me laugh. Head cold. - PinkElephants  745.7 #226 11:27AM
You talke Nyquil last night? * gws hyac* - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 11:29AM
Yes ma'am. Needed a goodnights sleep. - PinkElephants  745.7 #226 11:30AM
PE~ I don't think every MWer is in the park. Lmbo - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 11:42AM
Bully - PinkElephants  745.7 #226 11:59AM
I agree a full costume should just be for kids to avoid confusion even though I love to dress up. Adults should go to Mickey's Trick or Treat party when everyone's dressed up! I dressed as Snow White for that and it was really fun. :) - LillyBelle  77.1 #3806 11:18AM
i think it depends on how good these costumes are. Some are obviously not the real character, though it would be sad to have kids running up to you all day thinking you are Cruella. ( not YOU, but ya know :D) - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 11:22AM
Well that is a possibility for me. LOL - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 12:52PM
oh stop!! - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 1:35PM
its adorable when the kids do it . eh! not sure about the adults. - Hendizl  2580.6 #43 11:24AM
Kids shouldn't have to be confused as to which Pan, Tink, Ariel, or Belle they are seeing. It takes away from the magic. And pics with these guests? No. That's like taking a picture with "Bad Santa". lol - Alicewhoareyou  1567.9 #90 11:32AM
Remember the Alice we saw at Carsland? Wait. Not you but a guest. Another guest. - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 11:40AM
No. o_O Was it Mad T Party Alice?Ph wait. You're talking about the teens dressed up with homeade bows in the colors of the character (i.e. Snow White had red, yellow, black)? - Alicewhoareyou  1567.9 #90 11:46AM
Yup. I think we used them as examples for patterns for Alex. - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 11:52AM
I remember that. But they looked more like sorority girls trying to make Disney inspired outfits. Remember they were wearing black mini skirts. So I don't think any kids would mistake them for princesses. lmbo! - Alicewhoareyou  1567.9 #90 11:53AM
Saw a lady dressed up as Snow White. It was a bit on the revealing side too. We waited and watched to see if they would let her through the turnstiles. And sure enough they did! I was a little confused. - Jillian  767.1 #216 11:46AM
What happened to the pirate guy that was always in the park - E-Ticket  1315.8 #110 11:48AM
That's right. He grew out his own beard and wears eyeliner to boot! - Alicewhoareyou  1567.9 #90 11:49AM
Hi E, technically doing an impersonation of Jack Sparrow isn't quite the same as dressing up as a Disney Princess. - IMissDisney  1205.3 #124 11:51AM
But no boots. Lol. He wears sandals. - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 11:53AM
My park?? He's dressed up as a Disney pirate. It's no different than dressing as a princess, Peter Pan, or Hook. - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 11:54AM
But SmartyPants, his sandals kinda ruin the effect, don't you think? LOL - Alicewhoareyou  1567.9 #90 12:01PM
I noticed this a few days ago! I saw a mom and daughter dressed like Cinderella and security said nothing to them...I was shocked, not only at that but mom had better legs than me and I workout! MUST KNOW HER SECRET! - PrincessTianaCM  221.0 #1633 11:55AM
Cinderella wears a short dress now? Lol. How could you see her legs? - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 12:10PM
Both mom and daughter had their own rendition of Cinderella's dress. Like matching halloween costumes. - PrincessTianaCM  221.0 #1633 12:14PM
Kinda disturbing if you ask me !!! - snakeinmyboot40  394.0 #524 12:20PM
There's a trend going around called "disneybounding" that was started by a girl on tumblr. He puts together Disney outfits from clothes anyone can buy and a lot of people have been getting into it lately. Some of them are pretty convincing. I personally have had to ask more than one guest to change and have gotten screamed at for it. - lostgirl7988  697.6 #244 12:29PM
DMing you :) - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 1:09PM
I love Disney Bounding! I never interpreted the pictures as costuming though, but more like borrowing from the color palette or building on the inspiration from patterns. - MrsMears  217.1 #1686 2:50PM
I noticed this too! A mother was dressed as Belle. She had the full on Belle yellow ball gown. Her daughters were dressed as Jasmine and Cinderella. My CM's and I were so shocked. I still addressed them as their Princess' names. I know it's not to be that way, but hey, we all will always be the princess, prince, Disney characters we wish to be! They have Disney spirit, it is what it is. - iPoca.  916.9 #178 12:45PM
I thought you liked it when i dressed like Belle?πŸ’ƒ - Radius  502.7 #381 1:01PM
I take a lot of inspiration from Disney Bound, as there are such cute outfits posted, with a nod towards Disney themes or characters. Otherwise, I'm not sure that costumed adults in the parks year around is a good idea. :shrugs: - MrsMears  217.1 #1686 1:06PM
i like that :) i mean, i like that you DO that :) - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 1:36PM
Thanks - I just bought pink jeans for a Cheshire Cat inspired outfit!! They were only $10 and fit great for long days and stepping into and out of the rides :D - MrsMears  217.1 #1686 2:35PM
I might be in the minority, but I think it's inappropriate for teens and grown adults to wear full costumes if it's not Halloween. Disney-inspired is fun, but full costumes are inappropriate. I definitely think that only DL CM characters should be taking photos and interacting with guests. You'll get a bunch of creeps dressing up in cheap or even revealing costumes to take pics with kids and it'll start to look like Hollyweird or Vegas or something. I think it's unfortunate that DL has decided to allow this, if it is true. πŸ˜” - Spoonful_O_Sugar  574.3 #320 1:33PM
::giggles:: or Fremont Street. - Alicewhoareyou  1567.9 #90 1:35PM
Lol - Spoonful_O_Sugar  574.3 #320 1:37PM
Hey! Don't badmouth fremont st. lil yoda. - donnievegas  1132.6 #138 1:51PM
Very interesting post. The first lawsuit brought against Disney for allowing an unsafe environment for kids might change their minds if they are headed in this direction. The mass amount of inapppro - RadiatorSprings4Ever  1040.6 #158 1:53PM
Oops not done. Anyways to many chances for bad people to be around kids who know that kids will gravitate towards them if they are in cute and cuddly costumes. - RadiatorSprings4Ever  1040.6 #158 1:56PM
I work in a major shopping center here in the OC and it is private property and if there is someone inappropriately dressed we have a right to ask them to cover up or leave for the day. I think it is up to the people at the gate to screen who goes into the park or not. I think the reply of the security CM is a 'cop out' answer for they thought they were attractive and they wanted to let her in. I my opinion nobody can sue a company for descriminating based on clothing when they would be more than welcome inside the park if they covered up! - Donaldfan_532  236.1 #1428 2:04PM
Yeah. His explanation left me a little perplexed. I find it hard to believe that Disney would simply be ok with children and adults having to see so much body exposure in their "Family friendly" resort. But I wasn't going to argue with him. - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 2:10PM
I saw a guy with the I love cat. But the OTHER word. And I saw him there all day. - Katrayher  764.5 #219 2:35PM
I would have said something to him! So gross! - erincredible  207.5 #1815 3:42PM
Klassy. - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  5193.8 #17 3:47PM
Sorry. Didn't see CMBaloo's post. I refer all to his post that has the DL wesite's standard of dress for the park. - AKMouse  470.2 #411 2:44PM
His was in reference to this post. I believe. - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  668.3 #261 3:17PM
Yes. I had originally posted the same thing he did but as a comment here. It seemed to be a long post to have it twice. - AKMouse  470.2 #411 3:30PM

http://cchealth.org/eh/retail-food/dog-law-faq.php Β  I know folks love theiri pets but I still do not think this is sanitary Β from a food perspective. See the url for CA law. Unless they provide a designated pet area outside, dogs cannot lick the plates/utensils, who cleans up after a dog accident......No pets in at a restaurant for now (service dogs are the exception). Disney is excellent with their food cleanliness in the parks per the Public health inspections. DTD does not fare as well per Retaurarant inspection.
