Attention all DVC family: You can now book a hotel room at Disney's Grand Californian w/ your points. Just booked ours for Halloween Time!!!

Is this confirmed? I'm a little leary because we were just there 2 weeks ago and had to stay at a junk condo because all DVC rooms taken and we even complained to the DVC person in the lobby about room availablity arguing that if the GCH has rooms available, then a DVC should be able to reserve it with their points even though it may be a standard room. - icephoenix25

You have been able to book standard hotel rooms at GCH with points for a while. I reconfirmed this morning. Takes tons of points though! - DisneyNorm

I have never booked a standard room but have been given the option before with my DVC points for GC, DH, and PP. As Norm said, it does take up a considerable amount of points, though. - EpicDio 381.7 #354 2:52PM

Yeah, we know using your points takes a lot, but we purchased a resale last year and we cannot use them for the DH and PP. So now I'm curious if they will still only allow us to book DVC rooms. We've been spoiled to the GC that we only want a Disney property now. - icephoenix25 234.8 #1170 2:57PM

Yes! Apparently as I was told over the phone, it just changed. I can't confirm when the change happened but I was one of those who had to book months in advance because GCH was always booked under the DVC rooms. Our home resort is Aulani. If anyone is interested in staying here during the holidays, I highly encourage you to call and book. Once you trade your points for the Hotel side and cancel your reservation, you can't transfer them back to the DVC Villas. - JEDIminnie
