Question for my teacher MW friends. :) if I wanted to look for teaching positions in southern CA, which website should I use? Sorry this is semi non Disney related. Thanks!

Try edjoin.org but realize that many schools resume classes in the next two weeks, and most positions have been filled weeks ago. Best wishes! - susieQzee  555.8 #366 7:38AM
I know that I just want to get my name in there for next year maybe! :) thank you! - jariel  178.9 #2265 7:55AM

Try charter schools, they tend to hire more selective. - MarshaMouse  5036.0 #25 9:55AM
This is the all encompassing site for teacher positions in all districts. Most require applications to be submitted trough EdJoin. - LilSterner  5455.2 #20 10:02AM
There is a brand new school being built right now in Irvine :) Looks like it should be opening up soon:) Off of Jeffery in the new Cypress VIllage area:) - BooEve123  800.9 #232 10:08AM
My wife was on edjoin when she was looking for a teaching job in the Pasadena area. She used to commute to Fillmore. - ScooterMike  1963.0 #83 10:10AM
Hey scooter tell her to look into the La Canada school district - PrinceTeaJack  934.6 #198 11:33AM
My wife got a job in Pasadena about five years ago. It was tough though. - ScooterMike  1963.0 #83 12:24PM
I worked in Pasadena for a year, I don't recommend it. 😜 la Canada is a good district for your kids, but the parents can be very...uh... demanding. πŸ˜‰ - bluefairy  643.8 #312 3:23PM
The parents run the La Canada District thats why LOL - PrinceTeaJack  934.6 #198 3:31PM
try LAUSD.net - PrinceTeaJack  934.6 #198 7:35AM
This one. Good luck!!! - JenAnneWho  300.7 #910 9:56AM
Thank you so much everyone! You are all so kind! :) - jariel  178.9 #2265 11:32AM
GGUSD has a tendency to hire later than others. It depends on your credential. If you aren't already licensed in CA, contact the CCTC for info on how to do that. Don't forget that districts would like to see your transcripts scanned into Edjoin.org. Remember if the proposition doesn't pass in November, districts will be slashing like crazy. Good luck. - sr_citizen_space_ranger  70.0 #4161 12:13PM
Most districts are at their lowest staff numbers. They can't slash anymore positions because the student population numbers aren't equally being slashed (can't have students in rooms without teachers). The latest I heard, if the ballot measures don't go through, is that we can lose up to 15 additional days of work. That's almost a month, which just about equals a 10% pay cut. Oh, joy. - susieQzee  555.8 #366 12:24PM
This headache is exactly why I'm looking to go overseas for a while. Which sucks, because kid be an amazing high school teacher. CA will be missing out! - ladylikesdisney  945.0 #197 1:39PM
I'd, not kid. Oh autocorrect. - ladylikesdisney  945.0 #197 1:39PM
My mom taught overseas for the army children. She was single at the time though. - aidensmama  340.3 #704 1:42PM
What they can do is increase class size. We are maxed at 39 the first semester, 37 the second sememster and 180 total per semester. They can increase that and cut teachers. - sr_citizen_space_ranger  70.0 #4161 3:10PM
@ladylikesdisney- my aunt did that too. She ended up loving it and has now lived in Germany 40 years! - matildamouse  196.8 #2030 3:21PM
Glad I retired when I did 3 years ago. Things started going bad in our district the next year. - Diznimom  225.2 #1666 12:54PM
But you are still as busy as you were before with your Mom. You need more time with Princess, X man and MCH. - sr_citizen_space_ranger  70.0 #4161 3:11PM
Also look into private schools. Pay might not me as great but it's a job! I know here in San Diego, most public schools hire the subs. So might want to look into subbing also. Also make sure you are CA credentialed. - emnldsmom  369.8 #619 1:35PM
I do take a number of days off for sports and if I find a good sub, I ask for that person all the time. Subbing is a great idea. Don't forget in CA you need your CLAD certificate. - sr_citizen_space_ranger  70.0 #4161 3:16PM
Teaching jobs are hard to come by these days but not impossible. (This is partly why I decided to major in something other than education). Honestly your best bet is in the desert (la Quinta, yucca valley,...) or like someone else mentioned lausd. - aidensmama  340.3 #704 1:40PM
Hey I saw your post, try this website out, they are hiring a lot of teachers I hope this helps.. just cut and paste the link: http://www.la-archdiocese.org/SitePages/ADLA%20Employment.aspx - disneysgirl76  225.6 #1655 2:44PM
I guess it depends on what subject u teach, and what area you want to be in. You can try the Antelope Valley Union school district. Ot Palmdale School district.  also my mom used to work for a non-public school ( special ed, mostly kids who have been in trouble with the law) called Valley High School and Learning Center. They have 2 locations in the San Fernando Valley. - MyEeyore  229.3 #1618 2:44PM
This is true. Special Ed jobs and math and science positions are the easiest to find. - aidensmama  340.3 #704 2:58PM
Its ok where all one big mw family all we are all glad to help right family? - pikarich  5227.7 #22 2:49PM
I teach math and it is still hard finding a job. We let go 4 math teachers at the semester the last two years. - sr_citizen_space_ranger  70.0 #4161 3:13PM
Wow, that's tough. Glad you still have a job! - Pintraderswife  468.3 #461 3:25PM
I'm so thankful that I switched districts 6 years ago- right before the tough times started. - LilSterner  5455.2 #20 3:35PM
