We have a trip to WDW later this year and thinking of just upgrading our Premium APs to Premier (it's cheaper than buying park hopper tix, plus we'll get the discounts). Now the question is will we need to pay the difference from the old rate we paid last year or the current pricing?
That's an excellent question. I would call the DL ticket office. - ScooterMike

Current rate... My wife and I were going to do this in June for our AP's but then got the announcement of the rate hike. So we ran to Safeway bought our AP's at the old rate (2days before the hike) and sold our hoppers to some family that was going in December ( it was a win win for everyone). It's a bummer I know...unless there is someone who has purchased AP from a grocery store at the old rate you could buy them from you're probably stuck... :( - lampwick

thanks everyone... got my answer from DL. Premier does not allow for monthly payments so we would need to pay off the remainder of our current passes PLUS pay the $200 difference in order to upgrade. Not sure I'll be able to do that since I still have 5 months remaining on our passes. Another thing they told me is that if we updgrade, we will not be able to downgrade back to Premium once we expire, we would literally need to let it expire and then start all over again. - bluefan25

So we went to go upgrade our passes today and unfortunately I was given wrong info over the phone. Since we paid last years rate for our premium passes, we will need to pay the difference between last years price and the new price for the premier. So instead of paying only a $200 difference for each pass, we need to pay $350 for each. We didn't do it because I wanted to call again and they confirmed that information. Our monthly payments will not be affected either, we will continue to pay them We are still going to do it because the price of the upgrade is only about $40 more than the price of two 4day park hopper tix, plus we'll be able to take advantage of the discounts. We are about a month away from our trip and are so excited. - bluefan25
