When did they begin putting Hidden Mickeys in the attractions?

I tried looking this up but couldn't find a definitive date, only that it started as an inside joke with Imagineers who then tried adding them whenever they could. The first published sighting was in 1989. - Jerkzilla 32.0 #4277 1:33AM
