So...I am seriously considering upgrading my 3 day park hopper to an annual pass when I visit in March, but I had a few questions. Can you do a payment plan for the difference between the hopper and the pass or do you have to pay in full? I live in Arizona and currently don't get to the parks often...is it worth it to get a pass if you don't live very close to the park? Lastly for those of you who have annual passes and don't live close how often do you go and how much do you typically spend on trips? Thanks for any responses!!!
Unfortunately, payment plan is only for California residents. - shadowgamer

Even if you lived in CA payment plan needs to be done first. - MeridasHair

Unless it's changed recently, I was able to exchange a park hopper to an AP and use monthly payments for the balance (This was almost 4 years ago). - VeloMouseGirl 549.7 #210 8:51AM
we were able to upgrade our 3 day hoppers to AP with payment option for the difference. we live in northern cali - StitchPrincess 84.5 #3265 9:01AM
A friend tried about 2 months ago and they said you can not change a monthly payment option. - MeridasHair 332.8 #476 9:05AM
That stinks she could have. - MeridasHair 332.8 #476 9:06AM
You can upgrade your park hopper tickets to an AP but you cannot start an AP payment option and let's say upgrad to a higher AP and start a new payment plan. You can only upgrade by paying the difference in Full. - Jackie211 472.8 #260 9:27AM
She paid the upgrade difference. Thanks Jackie - MeridasHair 332.8 #476 9:52AM
Only SoCal residents have the option of doing monthly payments so you would have to pay in full upfront if you do decide to get an AP. I would recommend buying an AP if you plan on going to the parks more than once a year and for more than three days each trip. I live in Las Vegas and have been an AP holder for two years now. Ever since I bought my first AP I have made three to four trips every year with some one day trips every once in awhile. For me having an AP is worth the cost because I figured the three trips of three days each equals to nine days. These days a 3-Day Parkhopper is $250 with 3 $15 days of parking. Having the Premium AP mine pretty much paid for itself after the second multi-day trip. - KermitFan13

Did this change in the last month? My cousin who lives in San Jose was denied monthly payment plans when she tried upgrading to a Deluxe AP in early June. - KermitFan13 411.1 #323 8:58AM
No. That's weird! They opened it up to all of CA last year. I'm from Nor Cal too and we got our APs on the payment plan in June of last year. - Spoonful_O_Sugar 439.2 #288 8:59AM
We also live in AZ and are considering an AP. before the price increase if you go 2 times for 3 days you have paid for your pass. We usually end up spending $2,000-3,000 per 3 day trip. But $1000 of that was always tickets. I am sure you could cut that down a lot if you stay offsite. - Eraf61

I live in Az and bought our first APs in March. So far, we used them in March, May, and July. I usually really shop around for hotel deals, and end up spending about $400-$475 for gas and hotel for a three night stay. We bring lots of snacks and lunch stuff, so we only spend a little on food in the parks. I'd say for three of us, we can do the three night thing for under $550 if we are careful. - jmgphx 323.0 #525 9:08AM
We live in southern AZ and have deluxe passes. We try to go every 3 or 4 months, and stay for about 5 days. We can usually do everything comfortably for about $1000, depending on how much we spend on food and souvenirs! For us the AP is totally worth it! - Jillybean85

We bought 7 day park hopper tickets before they were discontinued (they don't expire til dec 2012) does anyone know how much it would cost to upgrade to annual passes?? We're playing on going again in february and then again in oct next year for probably a week each I figure ts worth it! - Disneymomab

I live in Colorado and have an annual pass. I go about three times a year. I payed for my pass with the discounts I received as an ap holder. 👍$$$ - JimmythePooh

We live in NM and have APs. We compared the price of an AP to the price of a park hopper ticket for the amount of days we would be there. We found that if you are going to be there at least 7 to 8 days within a year it is worth it to get the park hopper and get the discounts that come with it! - rexy650

It Depends on how commited you are about going. I live in Las Vegas and go at least once a month, so it is worth it for us. Also, since you are from out of town, think about those days you get to DLR early in the evening, and have to stay in your room or dowtown disney waiting for the next day... If you have a pass you could go in to enjoy fantasmic, or enjoy a meal at a restaurant, or fireworks. It is a perk!! - Fjaa

We live in Scottsdale Arizona! We go about every other month for about 3 days per trip, so our deluxe APs are more than worth it especially with the discounts we get! Including the hotel, (we stay at the paradise pier) and food, we spend about $1500-$2000 a trip! Hope this helps! :) - LoveDisneyDucklings
