The architectural work and detail that went into Buena Vista Street is seriously amazing. Here's some trivia that I've compiled by speaking to numerous CMs on BVS. BVS was designed to evoke Walt's experience when he first came to California in 1923, this is why you won't see Mickey or his pals until you reach the area surrounding Carthay Circle. The architecture was heavily influenced by the Spanish Revival that became extremely popular in Southern California during the 1920s. BVS features over 500 different types of custom tiles and pieces of stained "art" glass manufactured by studios that were operational during the 20s. None of the buildings that inspired the buildings on BVS exist today; unlike those that inspired the buildings in Hollywoodland (places like the LA Theatre, Chapman Market, etc.) BVS didn't create shops and restaurants themed to Disney characters, but instead created places that might have inspired Walt Disney to create those characters in the first place; Oswald's, Mortimer's Market, Clarabelle's Ice Cream. Even the shopkeepers' uniforms (red and white polka dots) could've been seen as an inspiration for Minnie's costume design.

I may be wrong but isn't BVS a continuation of Main Street, time period wise? In Main Street, there are the horse drawn carriages, then in BVS there are the electric cars. - kss4tink
