I used to manage this property, and to be completely honest, this wouldn't be my first choice for lodging during a family vacation. Perhaps some things have changed since I've been there, however during my tenure the owners definitely cut corners on things and passed it off as an "added value" for the Guest. If you do happen to book here, ask for a "Tower" room and high floor. There are some things that this hotel does right, such as customer service (most times) and the pool area is great. However I believe their silding glass front door is still broken to this day and it originally broke when I was there years back. We recently stayed there, end of June?? I don't remember. We had a king bed standard room in the tower. They were replacing carpet in some of the rooms for that seemed to be the biggest concern for most reviewers. It is not the most up to date hotel, but it was still quite nice. This being said, I have never stayed at HOJO before, so I am assuming it is not the same quality, but the bed was extremely comfortable, clean, and the shower head was tall enough for me!! The lobby is a bit misleading, it makes you feel like it's going to be a solid gold room, but it is nice for the price, and there's a free shuttle, with a LONG break every day...I think it was like 11-5 or something, so plan accordingly!
