I found a plaid at Target

-__-..... I feel like such a party pooper saying this but when people walk around in their attire after/before shift, it jsut takes away from the magic for me :-/ Throw rocks if you must... but nothing like seeing a pirate walking though mickey and friends chatting on the cell phone and eating a sandwhich.   - BooEve123  800.3 #115 5:29PM
Ok I'm not the one that feels this way it kinda takes away from the magic  - disneyismylife1  183.8 #1815 5:30PM
I totally agree!!! I hate seeing them in uniform outside of the resort! - Mimmy  1405.4 #57 5:34PM
It was kinda werid. But, it did bring a little Disney magic to my failed Target trip. Haha. - Sweet_Irish_Cream  2512.5 #23 5:36PM
This is one thing WDW has a leg up on DLR; however, WDW does have an elaborate underground tunnel network. It would be nice though. - EpicDio  380.8 #351 5:39PM
I believe they weren't allowed to wear them outside of Disney years ago too. - chris.  2507.1 #24 5:39PM
I agree 100% - MelodyMouse  941.5 #92 5:46PM
I agree 100%. It's no fun walking along Harbor seeing off duty CM's at the bus stop smoking and talking about what they did the night before. - Linzee  515.1 #227 6:05PM
I agree 100% boo - BubbaLoo  826.2 #109 6:06PM
Like I remember working at a "fine Dinning restaurant" we were not allowed to leave shift without changing first we would get written up if we were still wearing our shirts/aprons after check out. - BooEve123  800.3 #115 6:08PM
I always change before I go anywhere or at the very least throw a t shirt on instead of my costume shirt. - lostgirl7988  541.3 #208 6:37PM
Agree. Especially when they are smoking or on their cell phone... - Mouseketeer.for.Short  335.3 #445 6:55PM
I've always wanted to see alice or the hatter shopping at walmart, Buying tea and crumpets. - PrinceTeaJack  785.5 #118 7:27PM
Sorry Boo but I have to chime in. I wear my costume home and sometimes have to stop for gas or grocerys or food on the way to or from work. EVERYONE I come in to contact with is super nice to me and smiling and friendly. I always say hello to the kids and they are so excited!!! Parents are thrilled. So sorry if some of you don't like it. All the people I meet do!!!!! - SUUZinOC  715.0 #140 7:40PM
When I worked there about 12 years ago, I remember a few times I had to take my costume home because costuming wouldn't be open when my shift was suppose to start. So a few times I had to drive in a big poofy Fantasy Land dress and another time in the ugly mustand yellow and green star trader costume. That was my least favorite.. - SleepyTortuga  287.2 #684 9:23PM
Ok? :-) - uscdisneyteacher  3068.5 #14 5:28PM
You guys should gripe to Disney about this not the Cast memebers themselves..Back in the days you put on your costume every day before your shift in your assigned locker room with your very own personal locker and were requried to make sure that your costume was Fresh and at the end of you took it off and either put it back in your locker for your next shift or got new f fresh threads for the next day. and you were not allowed to take your costume home or wear it outside of the parks...Well that is all different now and they have taken away  a lot of what Disney did for the Cast members and put it on them to take on extra responsibilities...I personally don't like see Cast in Costume outside of the parks but its not their fault - Dave  8630.6 #2 10:07AM
Perhaps she is running an errand for a rich or famous??? Ok, maybe not. - DisneylandRxR  13.2 #5970 5:45PM
Should she just go home naked - PartridgeFam  10.3 #6641 5:59PM
They used to require employees to pick up their costume before their shift and change back before they went home. - Mimmy  1405.4 #57 6:25PM
Did you automatically look to see if who she was with is famous? I would have! - LaneSparrow316  846.9 #106 6:02PM
😁 yes! I've been conditioned. Haha - Sweet_Irish_Cream  2512.5 #23 6:03PM
We weren't allowed to take our costumes out of the park (late 70's). We also couldn't use public restrooms, eat or drink in view of the guests, and not walk through another land where our costume would be out of place. Unless we couldn't avoid it or during the Christmas holidays when we were allowed to shop, but couldn't hang out! - Gia  782.1 #119 7:23PM
I worked in the Main St. Shops late 80's early 90's and we didn't take our. Pastimes home. We turned them in and checked them out the next time and added coats, etc. when needed . Couldn't wander around in costume and I agree-I get a little sad when I see CM's in costume outside the park. - cinderelli  325.7 #494 7:31PM
i wish it was still that way. wonder why they allow it now? - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  1762.5 #43 7:33PM
Thank god it's not that way. I can't stand the dry cleaning stuff they use, it makes me itchy. . As soon as I get home I wash everything. And it saves me time to change at home. WE ARE PEOPLE TOO!!!! - SUUZinOC  715.0 #140 7:42PM
We had no choice, Suuz! Actually it doesn't bother me. Unless they were rude or "un-Disney-like" ...then I'd be angry! But I know you aren't that way! - Gia  782.1 #119 9:48PM
I live here in downtwn Anaheim and I see CMs in uniform in church, bus stops, store, etc. Not much you can do about it.  - Plumiegirl  3321.4 #10 7:38PM
I don't know about you but I wouldn't mind Pooh Bear pull up along side of me at the gas station ;-) - disneymomi  225.4 #1296 7:49PM
I've worked for companies that asked employees not to wear the uniform outside of work. To me, it seems unprofessional to do so, but I'm pretty old fashioned, I guess. It seems odd to see a plaid out and about, of all people. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  435.8 #283 9:35PM
I used to get picked up on all the time when I'd wander around town in my green and white striped polyester Lady Foot Locker shirts!!!! 😍😍😍😂😂😂 - caramiapoohAKAface  1438.1 #54 10:36PM
It is a bit sad. They should have strict rules for the sake of the guest because they are creating magic. My last experience at the park when I went into the baby center to nurse my child, the cm's were talking about the union and they didn't sound so happy about it. I was like " wooo" still here and can clearly hear you. Not what a guest wants to hear 😔 - adventurerEnDisneylandia {AED}  263.9 #880 10:47PM
For the record (and SUUZinOC_CM) this is actually still NOT allowed. We can wear are costumes home but if we stop we are to cover or remove the costume. Most just put on another shirt or a sweater. It is not uncommon for a bunch of us to go out for a bite after our shifts but we change before we go. If we don;t have a change we don''t stop. I agree with Boo 100%. Unfortunately not all CMs follow the rules. - BalooTBear  904.3 #97 9:11AM
Maybe she just happened to have the same clothes that the plaids wear that she just bought at Old Navy or The Gap. - PartridgeFam  10.3 #6641 9:44AM
I saw a plaid at the Starbucks on Katella yesterday with his name tag still on -__- - MayBie  1864.2 #40 5:34PM
I get excited when I see people in their costumes.. I see both sides though :) I can hear the fireworks from my work (Target in Fullerton) and it makes me feel like the magic is nearby at least :) - SarahJoshDisney  69.5 #3405 5:43PM
How do you get past Harbor House in costume? - NotSoDapperDan  303.3 #591 6:08PM
My best was Costco in Garden Grove. Waiting for a Pizza afterwork. - MeridasHair  317.5 #527 6:09PM
lol were they there eating churros?!?! ;) - BooEve123  800.3 #115 6:26PM
No churro, holding a grumpy kid and a soda. - MeridasHair  317.5 #527 6:42PM
Or a Costco hot dog and soda - PartridgeFam  10.3 #6641 6:29PM
What rich celeb was she escorting? ;) lol talk about above and beyond the call of duty. Hehe! - NotNKansasAnymor  171.9 #1972 6:34PM
She's running from the SIC paparazzi - Mouse4life  1037.7 #82 6:36PM
I agree it sucks seeing cast members like this outside the park. Though I once changed in the wrong bathroom I guess backstage and got in trouble so annoying - cmdlgurl  255.5 #950 7:01PM
Hahahaha I know exactly which target this is! But yes, the CM should have stopped at home to change out of costume - BaseballMickey_CM  2788.8 #16 7:09PM
Or even the changing rooms on property that's what they're for. - lostgirl7988  541.3 #208 7:13PM
Looks like this topic might join the likes of leashes, strollers, and price increases as topics to avoid.  - Jewelz  440.8 #280 9:51AM
