I was thinking about this the other night. We see old film and photos of the first day of Disneyland...all in black n white. It's hard to imagine that those who attended that day 57 years ago, walked through the Happiest Place on Earth just like you and I do. Seeing everything with the same eyes and you and I. Live...in color...experiencing things physically as we do today. Witnessing Walt Disney, Ronald Reagan, Art Linkletter, Bob Cummings, and others in the flesh...just as we see our friends and family right next to us. It was real life...unlike the black n white photos and films.
I think about this every time I see this photo of my mom (far left) and her family under the Adventureland sign, taken shortly after Disneyland opened.
Just imagine.
I wish we could see what Disneyland looked like on Opening Day with our HDTV technology that we have today - BaseballMickey_CM

I have seen some incredible videos where they have remastered old films of Disneyland, and the quality is almost as good as if it was shot in recent years. There's one I really enjoy on YouTube. Shot in 1957, the color looks like it was shot in the late 70's early 80's. Search Disneyland Canon 1957. - RadioMaverick 673.3 #160 10:47PM

I was talking to my dad tonight and he was saying how he watched the grand opening on tv. Kinda cool to know that it was such a big deal for him and the family way back then. - Mimmy

When I stand in line for a Dole Whip, think, my mom stood right here in 1955 in this photo. - RadioMaverick

That's awesome, and isn't it strange to
Think of history as anything but in black & white? - mrsbrownthms

Right?! Like Jesus was flesh and blood. The Civil War really happened. Lucille Ball had red hair that stood out. It wasn't just history. It was real life. - RadioMaverick 673.3 #160 8:31PM
I love your thoughts! I feel the same way! People here in Texas think I'm crazy for heading to California instead of Florida...just no nostalgia there! More MAGIC at Disneyland! - brittandkell
