Okay this is a total stretch but I'm going to give it a shot. So, I'm going to SoCal very unexpectedly last minute from the 10th to the 21st. That being said, I had no intention of going to Disney because... simply put it's spendy to buy a hopper now that isn't attached to a vaca package. However, my brother who is in the military currently stationed in Texas said he could get me and a friend a 3 day hopper through a promotion they have for military friends and family but I talked to DL and they said I have to just have someone going into the park with me that has a military ID, regardless of weather they are active or not, the first time I go in. So I figure it's a long shot, but by any chance, does there happen to be an amazing MWer going to the parks some time between the 11th and like the 16th of July, that has a military ID that wanted to walk in the gates with us. You can have an AP, we just need your company apparently. Wow sorry for the novel

Do you get in free? If not I think you can usually buy tickets on base. And they are way cheaper there. Maybe your brother could buy them and then mail them to you. But I don't know if the base in Texas would have Disneyland tickets. I would help you if I could. - Flyingtoneverland  188.1 #1771 3:56PM
No. Disney has a special until September where a soldier or their spouse can buy a 3 day hopper for $99... i think it's like up to six per person or something, for family and friends. He should be able to get it on base somewhere from what I understand. And he could send it to me. Thing is, The first time we go in, someone with a military ID has to be there with us. There is where we're having the issue cause he couldn't get leave to fly up. - Poisen_Ivy  257.9 #926 5:35PM
I was under the understanding that the person who purchased the tickets has to be there with you to activate the tickets. Did I miss understand? If so, this may help me immensely come September! - DizGeek  453.3 #270 5:40PM
Well when i called they made it seem like it just had to be anyone with a military ID just had to be present and it didn't specifically have to be the person that purchased it. I may have to check on that though. - Poisen_Ivy  257.9 #926 5:46PM
I was reading the rules and it sounds like the person who purchased the tickets has to be the one to show ID. - DizGeek  453.3 #270 5:48PM
I'll have to call them again in a bit - Poisen_Ivy  257.9 #926 5:54PM
Can you please post what you find out? Thank you! - DizGeek  453.3 #270 5:55PM
will do. Prob be in an hour or 2 - Poisen_Ivy  257.9 #926 5:58PM
Alright so I just called. They said it can be anyone with a military ID as long as there are no names on the ticket. So when whoever purchases it makes the purchase, just don't add names and it doesn't matter who purchases it. There just has to be someone with you the first time entering the park that has a VALID military ID and it can't be more than 6 tickets in total. - Poisen_Ivy  257.9 #926 6:31PM
Awesome thank you!!! - DizGeek  453.3 #270 7:32PM
Getawaytoday.com. You can buy discounted passes without a vacation package. - streetsweeper  441.7 #280 5:47PM
Thanks I'll check it out :) - Poisen_Ivy  257.9 #926 5:50PM
Seems on there you still need to get a hotel though... i just need a ticket - Poisen_Ivy  257.9 #926 5:53PM
You can get tickets only on getawaytoday.com. just click the ticket only tab at the top. - azbellatink  241.0 #1101 6:10PM
The tickets on getaway today are really not any cheaper than on Disneyland.com. - Pudgeman  367.5 #378 7:45PM
Yeah not enough so for me to decide to buy them :(. But still appreciated ppl suggesting it. - Poisen_Ivy  257.9 #926 11:34PM
We have bought the $99 military tickets multiple times so I can help you. When you buy the ticket on base they put the person that buys it(w/ ID) name on it. Then when going through the gate, they check for that person's ID. We have used these tickets 4 times as recently as 2 weeks ago and they have check that ID every time for the first use. Even last time, my sister was using it. My parents had bought the ticket with their retired ID so it had their last name, my sister showed her paper and her husband showed his active duty ID and they would not let them in. My parents had to walk back and show their ID with their last name. My husband(retired) bought for his family and had to show his ID on entrance. We bought for friends and same thing. We have only had to show ID initially, after that they never asked. - emnldsmom  189.3 #1757 11:43PM
Sorry, was getting long. Maybe the person meant that you could buy them at the ticket booth? I would just be careful! Would hate to see you get to the park and have problems. The specific page on their website and the MWR have this all posted. In fact the MWR said the military member needs to be with the person for evey entry, but DL site does. I called and was told they only have to be with them the first time. - emnldsmom  189.3 #1757 11:46PM
Maybe your brother could go to MWR and see if they put the name on the ticket? If they don't put his name in the paper, then your plan would work! It is a printed paper that is scanned at the gates and then a reg ticket prints out. - emnldsmom  189.3 #1757 11:48PM
So basically the guy i talked to lied. Not only would I have to find someone to be there I'd have to find someone to purchase it for me... and this is where I give up. Thank you so much for clearing that up cause it could have been a disaster :) - Poisen_Ivy  257.9 #926 11:49PM
Yeah I suppose checking at least wouldn't hurt. But I sorta feel bad on imposing on anyone in the first place since he can't make it. Thanks a bunch though! Like I said you were super helpful :D - Poisen_Ivy  257.9 #926 11:51PM
feel bad about* - Poisen_Ivy  257.9 #926 11:52PM
I don't know if he lied or maybe didn't understand completely what you want to do? When I was buying one for our friends that were going with us for 2 days and then using the last day on their own, I called to make sure that was legit. I was told yes. I wrote the girls name down and have it just in case they had a problem. When we went with my hubs family, we were blocked out the first day wanted to go in. He went to the gate with them, showed his ID(we were prepared to buy a block out for his of needed) and the lady was nice and let them in without him but still needed his ID. - emnldsmom  189.3 #1757 11:56PM
But this lady at MWR said we had to be with them all the time for every entry. We even signed a paper saying we understood this. She said people were being turned away if the military member wasn't with them. That is why I called. We have not experienced that at all with all the tickets we have bought. And you can buy 6 tickets in a one week period but up to 12 throughout the time period. - emnldsmom  189.3 #1757 11:58PM
http://tinyurl.com/7l78dwz That is the Disney page. This is getting long, And I don't want to upset anyone. If you want to DM, I can answer any questions you have! I hope it all works out for you! - emnldsmom  189.3 #1757 12:01AM
No worries I think that about answers it. The 3 separate people I spoke to the times that I called told me the same thing, that they only check the first time in. It really just is a lost cause at this point. Thank you so so so so much you were so helpful! - Poisen_Ivy  257.9 #926 12:11AM
