I definately like the HoJo! if you are looking for lower rates there are ways to find lower rates via priceline ect but then you get what you get basically. Keep an eye out on the HoJo because they update their retro rates periodically. As far as their souveniers-I usually go to the Disney Store and put so much on a gift card per child and that is what they get to spend and it can only be spent at Disneyland or the Disney Store-its an easier way for me to save and not want to dip into that money that is sitting there. I had the same question and after 3 months of searching, readying reviews and asking around I decided on the Candy Cane Inn. Close, clean, free breakfast, shuttle, and not so $$.
