Good morning everyone! Just checking in. Life has been rather stressful lately. My Dad is 89 years old and his health has been declining for the past few years. We made the decision this week to start hospice care. He's stopped eating or drinking. He's mostly nonverbal but has recently started saying he's ready to die and that he's "done." The hospice nurse is supposed to come out to the house today or tomorrow. We are determined to keep him at home and keep him comfortable. These end of life decisions are so hard :(
Oh Vickie. I'm so sorry. What a difficult time for you and your family. Hugs and prayers for you and your family. - Mrs.mouse

Aw, Vickie, my heart goes out to you. My family went through this with three of my grandparents: it's not easy at all. The most important thing is that he is comfortable and that all of you are at peace. Prayers and hugs to you! - Spoonful_O_Sugar

Thank you all for your kind words and support. The hospice nurse was awesome. She had a hospital bed delivered in 2 hours and morphine in 3. We are so comforted by the fact that my Dad will spend his final days at home, in the house he built, surrounded by his family and with his pain managed. It's been a long, emotional day but we are satisfied that we're doing everything we can to make his final days peaceful. - vernswifevickie
