Question to my fellow frequent park visitors! Does anyone you know (friends, family, co-workers, etc.) make comments or remarks about visiting the parks? My coworkers all know I am a Disney nut and usually go at least once a week. They normally come to me with any Disneyland related questions. However, a few days ago I had a friend make a remark after seeing our check in at DL asking if my husband and I ever work. How about you guys?
Whenever anyone comments on the frequency of my visits, I ask them how often they go and my reply is always, "See, that's why you are so unhappy and I'm always full of happiness." βΊ - AshleyLynn22
747.6 #136 11:49PM
Yep! I stopped checking in on facebook. Or maybe do it every 4th trip or so. Really grinds my gears that people get do jealous. I don't need to hear, "really? Again? Weren't you there just last week?! " ugggg! Get over it people! Yes I have an AP and YES I USE it! You go on lavish vacations, I go to Disneyland! - Duchess_SMK 3259.2 #11 6:50AM
being in NorCal, i get...weren't you JUST there in April? Yes, yes I was. And in Feb, and Dec and Nov. For a week each time. Which is why I'm deeply considering getting a shirt saying, "Yep, we're going AGAIN!" - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1798.0 #42 7:42AM
This^^^ is an excellent idea! I'd buy that shirt! - Duchess_SMK 3259.2 #11 7:54AM
I still check in haha I get "why don't you tell us when you're not there." I've found that people who don't like Disneyland lack an imagination and the ability to let their inner child out. - KissDclown 1088.1 #77 8:36AM
"inner child" π you mean I'm not supposed to be a kid everyday?! - Duchess_SMK 3259.2 #11 10:03AM
Well ya know there is a place and time for everything π although some people abuse Letting their inner child out and that's when they become childish π - KissDclown 1088.1 #77 1:45PM
Lol, my pastor used to say there's a difference in being "childish" and "childlike." - Spoonful_O_Sugar 436.0 #285 1:56PM
Don't let those comments get to you. They obviously don't appreciate the fabulousness! They probably aren't very happy people, which would explain a lot! Lastly, do you ever work???? Haha I keeed, I keeeed! ;o) - MomWithAJuiceBoxBuzz
922.2 #94 11:42PM
Lol! The thing that made me mad is I work full time (40 ) and have 2 business projects on the side with my husband and I am sure this friend KNOWS this. - DownTheRabbitHole 310.2 #558 12:09AM
If I could, I'd go every day! Going once a year is not enough for me, lol. Unfortunately I live in Texas and this is where I can afford to live at the moment. I have been saving for a while now and am looking for a place in very close proximity to DL.
But I think people make those remarks is because they see you happy and full of life and wish they could be like that. I have friends who think it's crazy with how obsessed I am with Disney. Last year 1 friend said "you went to Disney again?? Aren't you tired of that place yet? And you bought a stuffed animal and princess ears???" I simply told her "hey, you like going to clubs buying drinks that you'll pee out in half an hr and dancing with sweaty men, I prefer to surround myself with happiness and a carefree wonderland!" - PrincessElle

I ALWAYS get that from my co workers. To them im the disney expert or freak. some respect it some make fun. So I make fun back at them with stuff that they do. Some say I need to grow up that I have all this time cuz I have no kids and money to spend. Its hard to explain to them when they dont like Disney. So they will never get it. - ScarfGirl

I work there, so there's no problem about being at the park so frequent. But I sometimes tell guests that I come on my days off (which they can't believe) - BaseballMickey_CM
2826.7 #16 1:00AM
I can believe it because I ran into you there on your day off - ScooterMike 1959.8 #35 10:18AM
For many years I was able to go to DL once a year if that. When I moved to Orange County I jumped at an AP so I could finally go when ever I wanted. Friends and family ask me how I can afford it and what is it about DL. I tell them I'm making up for all the times I wanted to go but couldn't because I lived so far away. And with a pass I can drive over just for dinner. Now that I work at DLR I tell guests I come here on my days off because I can (just like BaseballMickey). They laugh and I usually get "Thats so cool!" And frankly I no longer care if people don't get "IT". I do and many MWers do and that's all that matters! I work at the happiest place why wouldn't I want to go there as often as I can?!? - SUUZinOC
715.1 #140 1:54PM
I use to get "how can you afford to go to Disneyland all the time?" and i just tell them its about $1.79 cents a day if i go 365 days a year or $12.50 cents a week.. I just don't go to starbucks every day. They are always astonished when i break it down for them...lol - HollyGolightlyPrincess

Some ppl go to Disneyland like my friend and I ask him how did his visit go... And his response is "Ehh".. But I figured y they have that response.. It's bcuz they are going with the wrong ppl... I go with my gf and every visit just gets better... Hmm so it's the ppl they r going with...let those ppl go with an MW member and they will think differently about DL...π - bents

Since August 22nd, 2011, I've been to Disneyland 80 times exact. I even found a hobby podcasting and contributing to photo blogs to give me some more purpose to visit more often. You paid for that AP, and your darn well going to use it! :-). Besides, they're just jealous. Must be fans of ________________ - Timsierramist
296.8 #624 3:47AM
Also, the prevailing idea among non-Disney fans is that Disneyland is for little kids, versus families and adults too. - Timsierramist 296.8 #624 3:57AM
^^Yes, very true. I always think back to Walt's statement about how he wanted to create a place where kids AND parents can have fun together. - NotNKansasAnymor 174.2 #1940 4:07AM
Of course DL doesn't appeal to everyone, but it does irk me when friends/family disapprove of how I spend my money and vacation time. I would never try to lecture someone on buying jet skis or going snowboarding all of the time, but for some reason, people feel like they have to give me their $.02 about vacationing at Disneyland. It's quite odd, but I just ignore it. Our DL trips are very special to my husband and I. - Spoonful_O_Sugar

I get the same feedback. I usually tell them how much I love Disney, and that the resort is my gym. I get lots of exercise and positive energy there! :) - LifeyLand

People are so tactless these days. I swear there are no boundaries anymore. No matter what your hobby is (golf, travel, Disneyland, crafting....) people don't have to right to make comments like "Don't you ever work?". Not everything is everyone's business. - LaneSparrow316

My family does that or rolle there eyes when we say we are going to Disneyland or they say let me guess you were at Disneyland. I don't let it get to me. - Veronica21
167.9 #2036 11:43PM
I get this too, to a degree. I pay good money for my pass, I am going to get use out of and enjoy it. There are way worse places I could be visiting or pick up on bad hobbies. - DownTheRabbitHole 310.2 #558 12:12AM
I go almost every weekend possible but I rarely check my self only because it would be a bit much. But I'm pretty sure your friend wishes they were in the happiest place on earth as often as you:) - PrincessV

Well I don't get to go to the park as much as I'd like, or as much as some MWers, but a lot of people I know, know that I'm a huge Disney freak. Some people think it's cool, and ask me questions. Then others think it's stupid, childish, and I need to grow up. Then I just say, "No wonder you're so negative, you don't like Disney, you must be miserable." Ehh to each their own I guess, but I never make fun of what other people enjoy, who am I to make fun of other people, it's just not worth it! - JoeDownTheRabbitHole
395.9 #336 11:46PM
Some people (person really) commented that Disneyland is so boring. I just told them that I like it and I don't care what they think. I know a lot of people may be more tactful but I think a rude response deserves an equal response. - aidensmama

And the next time you see them Casually trip them and when they fall and yell at you shrug your shoulders and reply "you know why.." - AshleyLynn22 747.6 #136 11:57PM
Lol. They'd deserve it too. However, I never see them. They are now just a Facebook friend. - aidensmama 336.4 #445 12:05AM
Oh darn, well if you ever happen to cross paths with them again you can! ππ - AshleyLynn22 747.6 #136 12:11AM
I bet someone else will do it first. They are the type of person that always has something rude to say and anyone who disagrees with them are stupid. This person has become a grouchy old man since he got older. Lol. - aidensmama 336.4 #445 12:20AM
I get this all the time, at work I get pick on as well for going so much. They see me as a "weirdo" or freak. But I don't let it get to me I just keep on smiling. My boyfriends friend always picks on him too for going so much. But in my opinion they are just mad cause they can't go ππππ bahahaha - flowers0818

My co workers have the same negative attitude and they think I have money to "burn". But I let them know it's well worth to spend time with my son, niece and nephew and their kids. We are making good memories. I even have a few friends and family members that I have converted into AP holders!! lol - nicealex77

Just ask them what they do for fun and let me guess they sit on there but at home or go out drinking? So after they tell you what it is that they do ask how many times a month they do it? After that make the same comment at them and say the shoe fits on you as well. - BUSCH_WACK

@Rick...so i'm a little confused, just to be clear, stuff that gets posted in Disneyland Talk also gets posted in the hub? And things that are posted directly to the hub stay there and don't get posted anywhere else? - NotNKansasAnymor

You try and put Rick in his place and now you wanna ask him questions. Wow your gonna do great here. - Evilstitch 330.3 #474 4:20AM

My friends and coworkers always say they're jealous we get to go so much. When they ask "how do you go so often and not get tired of it?". I explain with our annual pass, we take our kids for a max for five or so hours, and when we get tired, we go home, whereas when they go for one day, the spend 12+ hours trying to fit everything in one day and get burnt out. And the amount we spend for our passes, we make it worth it by going once or twice a week! - dessertLOVER

I stopped checking in on Facebook, except when I take a really cute pic of my daughter. Fortunately one of my employees has an AP and goes every few weeks with his family. My mother and sisters family all have APs. My in laws have expressed their concerns that we take our daughter to DL a lot. I know she loves it by her reaction when we watch Cars or a DL commercial comes on. Personally I find that I feel better and happier since I started going most weekends. Plus I know I have lost some weight. - ScooterMike

SO true Mike I feel like I have better memories to make and bond more with my kids...At home we are always in separate rooms they are watching cartoons im watching sports etc etc...I dont really listen to what anyone says ever. My friends forget the last time we went out drinking cause Im always at DL now lol - PrinceTeaJack 786.3 #118 7:20AM

I had a friend and her family jeer at my family and I for going to Disneyland. They would get tired of it after one visit. I got my friend interested in a pass, and her parents agreed and got themselves ones. Now they love it and go at least once a month. I get complained to more for when I travel ( I get to go a lot because my dad gets lots of miles, we have a timeshare, etc.), so I never tell them where and when I go anymore unless I bring them a souvenir. They think I'm "rich" (as if). - Princess_Pirate

Hey - I'm a Disney nut too and live in Texas. I travel for work quite often - and I slip off every couple of months and go - and I have a blast! The only person you can really please - is you - so be happy! If I lived closer - I would be there more too! Don't guilt yourself - the rest of them are old & miserable - regardless of their age - I don't ever don't want to be like that! Be a kid as long as you can! - Sfarrell

Yes all the time that's why I stop posting on FB and checking in that's why I post so many pictures on here. I'm not addicted to Disneyland. I'm addicted to hanging out with cool people at Disneyland. - ScooterMike 1959.8 #35 8:54AM
I had a co-manager say to me 3 weeks ago when I was going on vacation "I can't believe you guys are going to WDW".... It was for my husband and I's honeymoon (we got married last October) and my birthday. She was the one who asked how I was spending my vacation and I told her. She made other comments in the day. She talked about it more than I did. It must be what some people here said- they hear Disneyland and think it's a place for children and famlies. Oh well. It was a once in a life time, best vacation ever! - DownTheRabbitHole 310.2 #558 9:08AM
I will be the first to admit that I am TOTALLY envious everytime I see someone post that they are at/going to DL. I've been once, back in 2006...but this time next week I'll be on the plane and headed to the Mouse!!! I have AP's for all of our local "attractions", so I know I'd have a DL one if I lived a "bit" closer! - SteamboatWilliams

Sad part is that it's my family members. It sucks that they possibly can't tell from the pictures how happy we are. I was going to post something really mean before posting our recent trip pictures but I didn't want my phone ringing so I can hear my family telling me I was wrong to post an angry rant - lilo84 374.5 #366 10:25AM
Co workers yelled at me like I hiked up the AP prices earlier this year lol I simply say "so donβt go, your lossβ. But I will say our Disney group is growing here at work.
