Good Evening, all! Just wanted to give everyone a friendly reminder to keep an eye on their backpacks, strollers, and purses this summer at the parks. Especially in crowded areas such as the new Cars Land and the Mad T-Party. My husband just informed me that last weekend as we were watching the giant awesome slinky guy at the T-Party, he caught an older man standing behind me in the crowd trying to unzip my backpack's front pocket. He had it about halfway open before my husband noticed. My husband caught his hand and the guy let go and took off running though the crowd. He had me check my backpack to see if anything was missing but nothing was. I don't keep anything of value in the front pocket. At the time he acted like it had just come open because there was a huge crowd and the guy was long gone and he didn't want to panic me. He quietly described the guy to a CM but didn't want to make a big scene. Anyway, long story short, keep a close watch on your valuables at the parks! Don't keep anything in a pouch or pocket that's easily opened and be mindful of your things at all times. This was a reminder to me and I just wanted to pass it along to everyone else so nobody else's magical day gets ruined by a creeping crowd troll thief! Cheers, guys!
I think I saw this cartoon. - Westcoast 61.4 #3550 6:56PM
Rotten people! Should have one of those Chinese finger traps too! 😜that'll show 'em!!! - calidream1 383.4 #350 9:45AM
I understand that this is DL and you all think it's a safe place but as a CM who has had to move strollers, I am always shocked at what people leave in strollers. Cameras, IPads, handbags, backpacks... Anyone can walk by and take things. Please keep your valuables with you. We can't watch everything! - SUUZinOC
715.1 #140 7:38AM
I was wondering how it could be worth it for a thief to pay the park entry to pick backpacks, but this makes things clearer. That's crazy that people leave valuables out like that. - Westcoast 61.4 #3550 6:55PM
Several times, I've seen designer bags that I know retail for over $1,000 (much more, in a few cases) just left on a stroller. It's crazy! - Spoonful_O_Sugar 436.0 #285 9:17PM
Yeah we have had a stroller now for 3 years for Brody but the only things we have we'd left in it are water/soda and maybe a sweatshirt or sweater. We take everything else with us on the rides! Now we have a double BOB and thinking of buying a lock so no one will try to steal the stroller! Just sad we have to do that but that's just how it is nowadays - brodysmommy 243.7 #1062 6:57AM
What a creeper! Glad he didn't take.anything. Happy ur hubby has ur back ;) - MousekaTINA

Thanks for the heads up! My wife always locks up our stroller and I thought she was nutts, but after seeing how much they cost, she is right again! - snappy
272.6 #804 7:47AM
She's a thinker. Some time ago, there was a photo of a stroller that was locked up. As you could imagine, it was the subject of fodder. But makes you think how prudent the individual was. I leave my Maclaren everywhere and think I'm very fortunate to not have it touched so far. I think I'm too lazy still to lock it though. Lol - joyfulmomma 229.4 #1247 9:13PM
I can't afford to fork out more $$$ for a stolen stroller. My wife has been eyeing a double, and boy they are not cheap! Little more than our premium passes. - snappy 272.6 #804 9:28PM
I keep random stuff in a backpack. My valuables are always in my fanny pack in front of me. I use to hate the way fanny packs look, but I figure I rather look like a dork and have my valuables in check. - Gabster1
200.0 #1630 8:05PM
That's why I have a pacsafe bag. The zippers have snap hooks to use so you cant unzip w/out really using effort prevents theft. I love it. - DiznefanHi

That's what mine is! Love those bags. - PeachKay 310.6 #556 5:59PM
I leave my car keys in the ignition all the time, but just can't manage to get my car stolen. - LittleAprilShowers

Wow thank you for this! I always leave my camera and stuff in the stroller! Now I know and knowing is half the battle! - PrinceTeaJack

I always kind of knew but I couldn't really believe it. I tend to think better of people. I'm glad he didn't tell me that night, would have killed my whole T-Party buzz. - LaneSparrow316 846.9 #108 11:16PM
That's a major no-no. People take things from strollers all the time. Be careful leaving things in the strollers. - VfxGenie 1353.0 #59 11:16PM
Never leave anything in your strollers. People will take off with your stroller and your things. - thestalkerNIN 335.6 #447 11:20PM
It would be much easier to take from a stroller than a backpack. Yes, please be careful! - LaneSparrow316 846.9 #108 11:29PM
Yeah, we had a stroller and backpack stolen about six years ago in front of Buzz's. It was a bummer never turned up. There was nothing important in the backpack. It was the end of the night. I figure whoever it was had a sleepy kid and put them in my stroller. - Minnique 451.8 #272 1:16AM
Glad nothing was was taken! And thanks for the reminder. - CherryTreeLane

Sad that this would happen "in our house". We don't need greedy guests. Glad you and your possessions are safe. - MotherGothel
4.5 #11609 11:32PM
It amazes me how much stuff people leave in their stroller...purses, camcorders, backpacks, etc. We had our stroller stolen about 11 years ago, i think they saw the camcorder bag that turned out to be empty, and I've never left anything in a stroller since. I take my backpack and keep stuff in there. Be careful!!! - nerdgirl
25.8 #4597 11:50PM
It is amazing what people leave lying around...heard some woman yell to her husband "Wait, I need to swap lenses!" before getting on the tea cups. Then watched her swap an expensive telephoto lens for a wide angle and she just left the other lens in her stroller bag. Use your brain folks! - flukefan 266.4 #860 12:25AM
We just had our stroller and car seat stolen a couple weeks ago. Thank God we took all our valuables out--just lost our $200 stroller :*( - missyandpaul
255.7 #949 11:52PM
Omg how did you get home :( no carseat how sad!!! Gezz ppl make it no fun..Our stroller is now all black and i purchased a small all black backpack and leave my daughter's change of clothes and that's about it in it..but we noticed the basket looks empty since everything is black. But I see this alot at the park, ppl leaving coach bags hanging on a expensive stroller I mean that's the first sign when someone is looking to steal..always bring a dark colored bag or very old looking bag..;) - MinnieMaddiesMommie 41.7 #3943 8:13PM
We are from Canada and when our carseat and stroller got stolen--it was a very long unsafe trip home as well as a long two days without one in and around the park. - missyandpaul 255.7 #949 12:37AM
Uh...wait a minute!! So, where were we standing?! - Alicewhoareyou
536.0 #209 12:22AM
I think ModHatter was in front of us and bit and I think you were right next to me! He was super quiet about it because he didn't want to upset us and nothing was missing. Don't know when he grabbed the CM, maybe while we got our faces painted? - LaneSparrow316 846.9 #108 9:13AM
Ew. Creeper. :/ That's sad, even at a Disney park... - flukefan
266.4 #860 12:26AM
It's so depressing how some people have little to no morals or compassion for their fellow man. One can only hope that the karma police come and get them. Maybe these people are desperate for cash. Either way it's wrong. I'm glad things worked out ok for u. Thanks for the reminder. I can become careless sometimes. - aidensmama
336.4 #445 1:11AM
I'm sorry that happened to you, but it is a reminder that it does happen even at the parks. - Willierose
1180.5 #68 1:13AM
This can happen every crowded places, I feel safer to put valuable in a funny pack, and camera on my neck. Even if I have to leave a backpack with stroller, only water& jackets & snacks. Thanks for the reminder. - RapunzalK
180.0 #1862 1:23AM
We had our stroller taken last year in front of Small World. We had a couple of shopping bags with pins and a Disney bag with diapers and wipes hanging on the handles. It's so easy for anyone to walk off with your stroller especially if they've seen you park it and walk off. We never leave anything with the stroller anymore. - pharaoh

Yikes! I'm glad that your hubby caught him and that nothing was missing. - Vegan7LuvsStitch

That is sad, I left my 300 point & shoot canon on my stroller while in Tsmm, I was panicking the whole time. It was safe & sound. Sad people have to steal at happiest place on earth. - GarnerPhotography
321.4 #516 7:27AM
Reminds me of the time we were on Soarin and somebody snatched the fresh bag of kettle corn from our stroller. I was so bummed. It's really amazing what people will steal if given the opportunity. - Linzee
515.9 #226 7:29AM
😜 I can't believe someone would steal kettle corn. The nerve! - PeachKay 310.6 #556 8:01PM
That's creepy and flat out wrong. You are so lucky that your husband caught him! 😳
If that had happened to one of my loved ones, I would have been seriously ticked off 😠I hate people who thieve stuff that they know isn't theirs, whether it be from a stroller or someone's backpack. Thank you for the heads up 😊 - Aquata

Thanks for the reminder. Glad your things were safe. - Dizkid
284.2 #704 7:35AM
Here is my tip. I put the important stuff in an outer pouch and I use small zip ties to lock the zipper tags together. You have to cut then to get them off which I do with a pair of fingernail clippers. Do this when I travel. - butternard
26.1 #4577 7:54AM
Good lookin out, and I agree with aidensmama about the Karma police, they will get what's comin to them. - Hop-Low
195.2 #1695 8:02AM
Amazes me that people leave anything in their strollers. I've seen purses left in there--seriously??!!!?! I always bring the loot on rides-no way will anything but a sweater and water were ok being stolen be left. So happy your hubby caught him-what a creep :( living in San Diego we see a lot of stuff left in strollers at sea world, the zoo, Lego land etc - hillarygardner
18.2 #5253 9:16AM
That person you see doing that is me! I always leave my diaper bag/purse with my wallet and phone not even thinking twice because it's Disneyland. This is a good reminder that no matter where you go your things aren't safe out in the open. - erincredible 199.6 #1637 9:20AM
I agree, I wouldn't leave anything of value just lying around. Crooks go to the parks just like the rest of us do.p - connielu 672.2 #153 6:31PM
Yes and please check your ride seat ( and on ride storage pouches) for your valuables. The next time the vehicle makes it back it might not be there. Most guests are honest. But some aren't - keikoanddaphne
5.7 #9383 6:32PM
Back when my daughter was little I'd leave a back pack with diapers and supplies she needed in the stroller. One time I had 2 water bottles taken out, weird thing is one was half empty. Crazy what people will steal!! Now that my daughter is older I don't bother with the stroller anymore. - Nicole
380.2 #356 6:49PM
Sadly, I'm shocked to read all of these stories. I'm guess I'm naive when it comes to DL visitors. I just, like many people have mentioned, don't want to believe someone can steal at the Happiest Place on Earth. I'm guilty of leaving everything in the stroller...backpacks, purses, phones, gifts, etc. I will think twice from now on,.. but it makes me sad. :( - DaisyDork
170.0 #2007 6:52PM
Thanks for the reminder! I admit, I DO feel safer at Disneyland. Even so, I'm cynical. My travel purse has a cut-proof wire in the strap and the zipper to the inside locks shut. 😒 Plus, I always keep it in front of me. My daughter is a little more trusting, but I will spread the word! - PeachKay
310.6 #556 6:52PM
sadly a few yrs back my mother an I were on a trip to DL. We were standing infront of the teacups she put her bag down to go thru the backpack on my back an when she went to pick it up it was gone. Of course it was summer an super packed. She had a camera an her medical supplies (she diabetic). Never got it back an I learned my lesson now no matter what I always make sure the backpack is on a back. - feeNrob1213
41.0 #3962 6:54PM
To add on, if you have medical supplies in your bag always bring the bag with you. If your bag or stroller was stollen that could be disastrous. Also if your stroller is innocently moved by a CM and you come off a ride in desperate need for your meds you'll be looking for the stroller when you don't need to be. Always keep meds with you! - keikoanddaphne 5.7 #9383 7:50PM
We had my daughters cuddle blanket disappear off her stroller once. Annoying part is that it was an accident that we left it there in the first place. It isn't even a fancy blanket, but one of those waffle knit ones from Babies R Us. We figure it had to have been stolen becuase it was never turned in to Lost and Found. We had filled out a form in case it was. - Autoalice
135.7 #2509 7:17PM
Always a great reminder, thank you! One of the big reasons why I try to use my messenger bag at the park, so it's in front of me and in my line of sight :) - DaisyBell
668.4 #155 8:14PM
I would have tackled the guy and placed him under private persons arrest until security/police came. - Timsierramist
296.8 #624 8:19PM
I'm with you. I would have made a huge scene so as many people as possible could see the guy who was trying to steal from them. In my experience the more he is embarrassed and not 'anonymous' anymore, the less likely he is to try it again. - BlueberryCrusader 650.7 #161 9:23PM
I guess it was an older guy and he took off through the crowd real quick. It gets pretty packed around that stage when the slinky guy is out, plus it was dark. Plus it happened so fast! I'm glad he didn't tell me, I would have spent the rest of my night hunting him down! - LaneSparrow316 846.9 #108 9:44PM
I'm guilty .of leaving video cameras, purchases, our cell phones, and our bags in the strollers.. I just I'm kind of dumb!! I just want to think better of people, when I found a cell phone, I went thru the contacts found one that said "hubby" and called it, and told them I found the phone, they were able to come get it.. that's how I like to think other people are too.. this is a reminder that its not a disney kinda world for everyone =( sad - PlsDisneyMe

This is why I don't carry a purse. I take a business card holder with my AP, 1 credit card,ID, and a few bucks for churros and ice cream. If I purchase something I wait until I'm ready to go. I don't like to carry stuff around mainly because I'm lazy, but also for security. I do carry a backpack full of vitamin and water bottles and snacks. - nicealex77

Everytime we go the kids and I keep track of the number of purses or camera cases we see. Last visit we counted 60+. We have seen iPads sitting on the seats of strollers also. I wish I had money to waste like that. - MeridasHair

Rub some mud on a diaper and stick it right inside the backpack. That thief would be in for a nasty surprise 3:) - SteamboatMinnie
309.8 #561 1:34AM
My son had a poop explosion on an outfit and when they stole our stroller they also took the poopy outfit. Guess a little poop didn't bother that thief :/ - missyandpaul 255.7 #949 2:36AM
Another reminder, watch who is watching you. I had a lot of electronics on me one night, was changing batteries, etc, then put the backpack on the ground but held it tight with me feet while taking photos in the deserted area by splash moutain. Noticed a woman watching my backpack, she saw me take her photo and she ran off with some guy. If you are a thief, you do where you can find things to steal, and how easy to steal from distracted people. - secretagentangel

Something I did while traveling in Scotland, in the crowded cities, we put luggage locks on our backpacks. It will prevent someone from unzipping your pack from the back. Just a handy tip. - Sharkgrrl19
