HAVE NO FEAR IF YOU DO NOT PLAN OR CAN NOT CAMP OUT AT THE PARK TONIGHT. WRISTBANDS ARE NOT NECESSARY. People keep asking that if they get a wristband will it guarantee entrance to the park...no need to worry. If you go to the park in the morning you WILL get in. The park will not hit capacity that early in the morning, you're not going to have 30,000 people standing in line all night, for one, there is no place for Disney to put all those people. A few thousand people lining up? Yeah, maybe. If you are camping out because you want to be one of the first ones in the park, then yeah I guess you would have to camp out. But there is no need to worry if you don't plan on camping out. If you recall Leap Day, Disneyland did not hit capacity til about 8:00 PM. If DCA hits capacity it will probably be around 4 or 5 in the evening once everyone starts getting off work and heading down to the park for the night. I went to Disneyland's 50th anniversary back when a whole bunch of people had camped out then, the park opened at 8:00 am, we got there at 7:30 am, got in line after everyone else (the line extended down to Tortilla Joe's at DTD and then circled back all the way to the tram drop off) and we were in by 8:15 am. So if you show up in the morning, wristband or not, YOU WILL GET IN.

People camp out not to guarantee getting in, but for the feel and the vibe and the community of it. That's why people camp out to watch the rose parade on new years or camp out for movies. They want that vibe. I know a few MWers who will be camping out. They dont need to, their passes will work next week. But its for the environment. - Radius  502.7 #383 9:42PM
Im a princess I will not urban camp for a vibe but more to those who will. - Plumiegirl  8573.2 #3 11:34PM

I think the fact that you took the time to type out this huge rant (and by extension the fact that I took the time to read it) is a waste of time. If people want to spend their time in line let them. Its about the experience. And with the conclusion of a 5 year expansion I have no doubt the park will hit capacity well before 4 or 5 in the evening. People have planned trips specifically for this event. Why rain on everyone else's parade? Let them enjoy their time in line and in the park tomorrow. - lostgirl7988  697.6 #244 9:56PM
I think you are kinda missing my point, I'm only trying to address the fears that some people have that they have to get a wristband in order to get in. Which the wristbands are being used to keep track of who was in line first, so the first in line are the first to get in, and like someone else pointed out, there are people who are there who really just want first dibs at the opening day merchandise. There's is nothing wrong with camping out, but like I've been trying to say, you don't need the wristband if you plan on being there in the morning anyway, people will get in, the people with wristbands just have the opportunity to get in first. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 10:05PM
The point isn't the problem. It's the condescending was you talked about everyone in line. - lostgirl7988  697.6 #244 10:15PM
I understood. Actually aporeciated it because i was thinking about going but worried i might not get in.. This was good info.... For me anyway! - Zipitydoodahdad  269.0 #1093 11:27PM
i have an AP so I can work around the crowds. I also did the carsland preview to avoid the crowds. There are some folks who love to run with the crowd -something for everyone. - Plumiegirl  8573.2 #3 11:36PM
If you wanna camp out just to camp out, there's nothing wrong with that, that's anyone's perogative, but I'm addressing people who think that they have to go down there tonight and camp out just to get a wristband to be sure they get in.  The wristbands are not for deciding who gets in and who doesn't, it's for maintaining the integrity of the line - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 9:52PM

Just a little FYI, I'm a she, not a he. ;) But thanks for the little back up. I never called anyone stupid, like I said earlier, that would be just plain rude and mean, and I'm not one of those people. I tried to clarify myself, but apparently it didn't work. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 10:54PM
If you feel like many people are misreading you, then it might be a good idea to revise your post.  Your first sentence reads "I think people who are camping out are kinda wasting their time."  This leads everyone to believe that this is your topic. If your real goal is to help people see that they don't need to panic and run down to get in line if they want to see Carsland tomorrow, then that would be a good way to lead into your post. :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  576.5 #320 10:15PM
Topic sentences are important - ladylikesdisney  945.0 #173 10:16PM
Lol, yes they are πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ - Spoonful_O_Sugar  576.5 #320 10:18PM

Yes. - ladylikesdisney  945.0 #173 10:23PM
You're kind of talking in circles. You're telling us we misunderstood you when we defended the whole camping out issue. You claimed that your real point was that people don't need to rush down tonight (totally valid point and good advice). Now you say that your opinion is that people wasting their time. What is the point of this post? I was trying to help you rephrase your post do that your real point is clear, but I'm sorry for interfering. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  576.5 #320 10:31PM

Okay then, I'm asking for your help, how should I re-word it so it doesn't sound "bad"? - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 10:44PM
Just delete it :) - caramiapoohAKAface  3570.2 #32 10:47PM
I typed put my suggestion in this comment. But, yeah, at this point I'd just delete. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  576.5 #320 10:51PM
We appreciate your opinion and sorry for the bombardment. People may not want to scroll through these comments to see where we ended up, but if you edit the post to something like "Hey everyone - for those of you who are worried you may not get into the park if you don't camp out - don't worry. You will still most likely get inside the park even if you don't have a wristband. If you are camping out, be patient!" - that should convey what you wanted people to get out of it. :D - Alicewhoareyou  1573.7 #90 10:57PM
DON'T Delete it. Leave it up. It actually tipped me into staying home, and probably helped others. It seems only MW'rs are in the line tonight, lol. - Timsierramist  302.9 #822 11:04PM
^^LOL I think Alice was referring to changing the first line, not deleting the whole post. I thank you both for your input. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 11:11PM
Alrighty, I edited it. Better? :) - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 11:17PM
Much better, but now I don't think anyone will understand what the heck happened when they read everyone else's comments. BAhahaha!! lol - Alicewhoareyou  1573.7 #90 11:18PM
^^That's okay, we'll just keep it our little secret between you, me and all the other MWers who participated in the conversation. lol - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 11:31PM
I think its better too, and I am glad you did not delete it. but aliceway is right, by now everyone is kind of scratching their heads, going "WHAT?!" all good though!!! - secretagentangel  1439.7 #101 11:35PM
Hahaha!!! Ok, now i see what happened... Glad you took that line out! Sounds good now! - Zipitydoodahdad  269.0 #1093 11:40PM
These people obviously think its worth it to camp out. If it makes them happy, let them do it. Disneyland is the happiest place on earth. - ScooterMike  1962.2 #69 10:58PM
NotNKansaa is probably right though. A lot of them probably think if they don't wait overnight, they won't get in tomorrow. - Timsierramist  302.9 #822 11:02PM
I concur Mister! lol - Alicewhoareyou  1573.7 #90 11:06PM
@Strawberryguy - Alicewhoareyou  1573.7 #90 11:06PM
It wasn't. Which is why I felt I needed to back her up when everyone made a big deal out of nothing. Then, I think people smelled blood in the water. - Timsierramist  302.9 #822 11:11PM
also, not sure on your numbers of 50,000 being capacity.  i was told it is about a third of that. - secretagentangel  1439.7 #101 9:43PM
Disneyland's capacity is anywhere between 55,000 and 70,000, it depends on staffing and the weather. So then let's say for the sake of the argument that DCA's capacity is half that, around 30,000....still, there's not gonna be 30,000 people standing out there all night. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 9:56PM
The actual numbers for park capacity have never been released for security reasons. So unless you're a cm and violating company policy the numbers you're throwing out have no merit. - lostgirl7988  697.6 #244 10:04PM
I'm getting my info from my boyfriend who is a former CM, and he still works closely with the DL Resort. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 10:09PM
With the Cars Land expansion, I assume the capacity would change though... I'll also assume they'll start with summer staffing as well. Still, less than DL. Maye 40k - FantasmicFan82  188.9 #2038 11:49PM
^^I would say you're probably pretty close to accurate. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 12:07AM
I kinda think you're calling the kettle black haha. Those guys waiting out there are Disney lovers just like us! Haha they could turn around and say I think spending hours on a Disney app is a waste of time. To each his own. What unites us is the love of Disneyland :) - ZippADeeDani  142.0 #2745 9:48PM
Spending hours on an app is a waste of time!! You wait until now to tell me!! - Chadco  307.6 #800 9:50PM
I think for a lot of people, it's not about "getting in to CarsLand first." Just more about the experience: being with friends, the excitement and adrenaline, and making memories. Β I'd do it if I was in college or something. Β Heck, I used spent almost every night during the summer wasting time hanging out in parking lots until 3 am and going camping, lol (small town America at its finest).Β  This would be way more fun! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  576.5 #320 9:50PM
His "rant", again, was directed at those who felt they had to stand in line all night to get in. I think it will be useful info to many. And as for capacity, I think they are going to have max staffing at DCA tomorrow for new thing syndrome, so it will be as high as it ever can be. - Timsierramist  302.9 #822 10:02PM
^^Thank you. People jumped on me like I was an ugly step child that dared to speak, just 'cause I was trying to give some information and gave my opinion about it. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 10:16PM
i don't think they were jumping on you because of that, I think it is because the first line of the post came off as if you were complaining or making fun of those people. and one of the rules here is to not complain, but I think from your other explanations, you were not trying to do that, or at least that is what I hope. and I might not be in that line but I do respect all of them for wanting to get crazy and hang in line and be first. :) - secretagentangel  1439.7 #101 10:21PM
Where was the complaint? I wasn't complaining, at least that was not the meaning of the post. I wasn't calling the campers total losers and engaging in a total waste of time. That would be just plain rude and mean. I used the word "kinda" for a reason. Anyway, sorry if it sounds like I'm trying to explain myself to you or justify myself, I'm sure you don't really care to hear it. But I think it is bothersome that some people will flat out tell me that it's wrong for me to give my opinon on here. I didn't know that that wasn't allowed, so I stand corrected. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 10:32PM
It's wrong to complain per admin. I was joking though when I said yes. I really don't give a darn about what you think about what I do with my time. - ladylikesdisney  945.0 #173 10:36PM
Okay, well thanks for the info, I never intended for my post to be a complaint. I guess now I'll just have to be extra careful when stating an opinion or maybe I'll just keep my mouth quiet and won't give one at all next time. You know what they say, if you try too hard to be helpful it usually blows up in your face. I think my eyebrows are singed. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 10:43PM
It's just your tone and phrasing--I tried to help you. It would be more effective to change your first sentence to something that states that people don't need to rush down to DL tonight unless they want to. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  576.5 #320 10:46PM
And please don't feel like you can't state an opinion, but know that when you do, someone (or many) will disagree. It's not a bad thing to disagree with each other, but I'm sorry you felt jumped on. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  576.5 #320 10:48PM
and just so you know, if we did not care about you or mw we would never all get into these discussions, but I am glad you told us you did not mean it as mean. thats always the hard thing here, understanding what people mean through a bunch of posts, we can read it all ways. we always are not going to agree with each other either but at the end of it all, we all do love disney!!:) - secretagentangel  1439.7 #101 11:17PM
YOLO - Ricko19  818.1 #201 10:47PM
I agree the wristband is not needed but I do know that it will be crowded!! Just be prepared that it might reach capacity in the afternoon and the lines in carsland will be extremely long like hours long, as long as you are prepared for that it will be a very magical and exciting day!! :-) - Timechaser_cm  265.3 #1127 11:35PM
I'm sure some of those camping out are also attempting to purchase the LE merchandise. - EpicDio  433.1 #458 9:41PM

He already knows what I was going to post so I won't write it - ladylikesdisney  945.0 #173 10:07PM
We all learned at OMDD that being there early is a good thing. - FantasmicFan82  188.9 #2038 10:10PM
I somewhat agree with many points. You will get in as the capacity for the resort is about 100,000 for both parks. I would camp out if it weren't for my son being autistic and he would not beable to cope with it so we will arrive early tomorrow morning My one concern is it is also a grad nite which will help swell the numbers in the afternoon. I am not to worried about the lines as he gets to use a guest assistance pass. It will be fun but a bit crowded. - butternard  27.8 #5680 10:10PM
Didn't read lol... Yea let them do what they want.. If they enjoy that then there is nothing wrong with it... Lol .. This MW fam is feisty I see... Lol... I could see sum claws coming out lol... - bents  16.4 #7379 10:22PM
Exactly. Lots of drama over nothing (my opinion...please don't jump on me). - Timsierramist  302.9 #822 10:51PM
Unless your their mom, and they are your under aged kids, I say let them enjoy themselves, as long as they don't cause trouble - Villescas8  601.0 #303 10:28PM

My Aunt would sing that song to anyone. She'd sing it to a wall if she thought the wall was poopin' out her party. She was a very cool lady. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 11:35PM
Thanks!! That is very helpful to know. - Alicewhoareyou  1573.7 #90 11:15PM

I bet if you met some cool people and camped out with them, you would have had a blast. I camped out for a store opening and I met some awesome people. It was the whole experience and a new one at that. - mstiauna27  89.9 #3586 11:21PM
Do it cause it cause it's fun and a great bonding experience with strangers. I've loved every minute of my Rose Parade and Black Friday sleepovers! Looking forward to my first Disney one :-) - PrincessDuckie  805.2 #205 11:26PM
But you are right, I got in line about 7:15 am ish and was through the gates about 8:15 am for the 50th. I was in the Harbor side packed like sardines out to the street. It was amazing! - PrincessDuckie  805.2 #205 11:28PM
Alright, hun, I'm gonna tell you the A-number one reason Leap Day didn't jam pack in the morning.. IT WASN'T SUMMER!!  You've obviously never been to the opening of an ENTIRE LAND in side the Disneyland Resort.  It's absolute mayhem.  Last minute deals will be given on merchandise, stuff that is collectable simply because if you weren't there the first day to buy it, it's gone and never to be seen again.  People go NUTS for this stuff.  I was there for Toon Town, and it was just crazy. It was nearly that bad just for Indiana Jones.  But trust me, it's summer, that place is gonna hit capacity. - TheBudd  357.3 #597 11:28PM
*throws hands up in the air and walks away* LOL - Alicewhoareyou  1573.7 #90 11:29PM
also, 60% or more of people didn't give a rats hiney about being in DL for the full 24 hours. For most, it was to be there after hours and watch the sun come up rather than go down in the park. So combine that with the fact that it wasn't summer, Leap Day had no chance of hitting capacity in the early morning. - TheBudd  357.3 #597 11:31PM
No, the reason this is now a hilarious post, is that you missed the last 1/2 hour where we all debated over the wording of it, so she edited it. Now, you come in and RUIN THE PROGRESS BUDD. Bahahaha!! - Alicewhoareyou  1573.7 #90 11:33PM
it's still worded badly! - TheBudd  357.3 #597 11:34PM
Oh, for heavens sake. lol - Alicewhoareyou  1573.7 #90 11:35PM
the best way to word this post would have been not to post it. People wanna camp out, let em camp out. but telling people, with absolute certainty, that the park won't hit capacity until 4-5pm.. not cool. If people wanna be there for opening day, they need to be there breakin' down the door. - TheBudd  357.3 #597 11:35PM
whatever, I'm over it.. I'm not crazy enough to want to be there anyway, let alone camp. But don't be a party pooper and spoil it for the rest. - TheBudd  357.3 #597 11:37PM
TheBudd just called the campers "crazy". lol...this is the best post of the night. - Alicewhoareyou  1573.7 #90 11:39PM
^^@Alice...It's okay, I've resigned myself to the fact that I stepped in doo-doo and no matter how hard I try to clean it off, I still have a little bit of stink on me. HOWEVER, I would like to point out that the 50th anniversary was smack dab in the middle of summer. I had no trouble getting in the park when I showed up a half hour before it opened. Also, throughout the day I was able to go back and forth between both parks without the gates being closed. If the park hit capacity that day, I didn't know it because I saw people coming in throughout the entire day. I have friends that didn't get there until 9:00 PM, all they wanted were the gold ears, and they got in. But please don't insult me by saying I have no idea what goes on at the park for a big event. You don't know me personally, I've been a passholder for nearly ten years now. I grew up at the park, I'm pretty familiar with what happens at the park for big events. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 11:44PM
I've been to the 35th, 40th, and 45th anniversaries, and using those as examples is just pish posh. The anniversary events last a few days if not weeks. They are all well and fun, but don't slam the park the way the opening of a highly anticipated expansion does. And yes, all them campers are CRAZY, but I admire the hardcore spirit they have. - TheBudd  357.3 #597 11:51PM
I didn't use the 35th, 40th, or 45th as an example. I used the 50th, because that (and I think most of us can agree) was a pretty big deal, and if remember correctly was 18 month celebration. I've also been to the park for the grand opening of Indiana Jones, the re-opening of space mountain a few years back, and the opening of the New Tomorrowland back in 1998. I think I do have some idea of what goes on. I think you are being unnecessarily harsh and unfair. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 12:05AM
I don't want to sound mean but I think all that thebudd was saying was that in your post you were guaranteeing people would get in that late when really there is a good chance that it will reach capacity early in the afternoon because of how long people have been waiting for this opening. Even though there have been other big events it is hard to base how busy it will be compared to those because this is a completely different event just thought I would put my two cents in :-) - Timechaser_cm  265.3 #1127 12:55AM
Oh, I totally get what you're saying, but in my original post I never said that you would be able to get in late. I said that IF it hits capacity it will likely be in the afternoon. I said if you go in the MORNING you will get in. The park doesn't open until 9:00, and I'm not sure if it's possible for the park to hit capacity in one or two hours. You have to take into account that they only have so many turnstiles to use for the the flow of people and I don't necessarily think they will have a capacity crowd at the gate at opening. I think they will have a very large crowd, yes, but not a capacity one. - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 1:05AM
I used to camp out with my mother for concert tickets back in the day...awesome memories. Have fun whoever is out there tonight!! - Linzee  1035.2 #161 11:31PM

But I could use a shower 😜 - Sweet_Irish_Cream  4387.2 #22 11:54PM
^^Haha, this is true. The downside to Leap Day, thousands of people hanging out at a park for 24 hours...no showers. I'll tell ya that shuttle ride back to the parking lot was not a pleasant place to be. lol - NotNKansasAnymor  283.8 #941 11:59PM
i don't know, not trying to fan the flames any but I still think the park will hit capacity early. my bet on the other post was 45 minutes, maybe not that quick, but the amount of press, commercials, billboards, it seems that this is going to be huge.  if I was not a "sickie" and could stand being up all night, I would be there, though here  I am up posting all night, lol!:) - secretagentangel  1439.7 #101 11:43PM
50th anniversary was insane! It was my first year as a CM in the DLR! I was Terrified! Good times! - mamabuxn3  3.4 #28096 12:09AM
^^But wristbands...not required. lol For anyone who camped out then, did they do the wristband thing as well? Alright, I'm going to bed, goodnight, maybe I'll see some of you there tomorrow...for those of you willing to brave the chilly weather all night tonight...Good Luck! http://cchealth.org/eh/retail-food/dog-law-faq.php Β  I know folks love theiri pets but I still do not think this is sanitary Β from a food perspective. See the url for CA law. Unless they provide a designated pet area outside, dogs cannot lick the plates/utensils, who cleans up after a dog accident......No pets in at a restaurant for now (service dogs are the exception). Disney is excellent with their food cleanliness in the parks per the Public health inspections. DTD does not fare as well per Retaurarant inspection. Check the Health Care Agency for the current restaurant inspections. As a Public health nurse I always check to see who is keeping clean in their kitchens. Diners beware! - Plumiegirl  8573.2 #3 10:42AM

Disneyland unFORECAST (BETA) is here! Top MouseWaiters giving you the rundown of what's happening at the Disneyland Resort. The unFORECAST now has its own page on the web www.unFORECAST.com

unFORECAST for the week of Monday April 20, 2015

CROWD PREDICTION: Back to short hours this week, and based on our Historical Crowd Index, we see mid-70s with crowds decreasing through the end of the month. There is also a chance of rain toward the end of the week which could throw a wrench in things. Friday and Sunday's have been the busiest days, but rain on Friday could cause the crowds to be significantly less. Have a great weekend! - Admin Apr 21, 2015 11:28AM

We have always noticed that Saturdays are better than Sundays! We always come on the weekend and say we want to leave at dinner time on Sunday, but always leave by 11-12 because there are so many people. We love Saturday!! - 1Princess3Princes  373.0 #559 5:39PM
I agree. I think it has to do with most passes being blocked - PoohSizedGuy  18.5 #6934 11:53PM

What is dance the magic?? - bks4lou  181.2 #2148 4:40PM
