My kids had a friend tell them about pin trading, and now they want to try. I have less than a week to figure out what to do and where to start. Tips and ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
What day are you coming to the park? I have a few extra pins they could have to get then started, but I will only be there from Sat-Tues - PrincessKristin

Tip number 1 - when you buy your "starter" pins to trade through the parks for other pins, make sure you buy pins that you (and your kids) don't really like! Because otherwise they won't want to trade them away, and you'll end up having to spend more money on pins that they are willing to give up. lol - jmgphx

My nieces collected pins just to collect and I started them on pin trading, they're just 6 and 7 years old tho. But we started a pin trading lanyard for them and the first thing that we got was the "mystery pin packs", there's 2 mystery pins inside and you can trade those anywhere. I think that they might be the cheapest to get..like $10 or so. I did get them other pins but the easiest and cheapest way to help start a trading lanyard is with those mystery pins. I hope this helps.. Good luck and remember, just have fun with it. The Cast Members at DL are so sweet and nice, the can help you trade and they'll teach you a couple of things of you ask nicely :) - gigibunny2

There's actually info on the Disney website about it. It's super fun and there are special cast members that trade with kids. Not too much to know really just get a starter set at the park and have fun!! - mousekepuggie

The starter sets usually come with extra pins to trade. When we go we buy a few pins we like to keep on our lanyards and a few to trade. - shodge12

First you need to decide are you / them collecting and trading for a monetary value or just to get pins that you all love. Get a lanyard and a starter set and trade with CMs wearing teal lanyards only trade with kids. I'd start with them. Have fun!! - JenAnneWho

Beware of giant lots of fake traders on Ebay! If you decide to buy pins on Ebay, get the sealed packs of pin sets they already sell in the parks. Those are more likely to be legit. - LaneSparrow316

If you're in the park, I'll be glad to explain everything to you. Most of what I've learned about pin trading is either from other MWers and working in the park. - BaseballMickey_CM

As a kid I liked the starter kits. You can trade the ones you don't like from there :) - Raeofsunshine
