Morning MWers...so I'm really scared because I have to go get my wisdom teeth out in 30 min! Please any advice to calm me down? :( im so scared I woke up with a stomach ache

Look, they're gonna put you on pain meds. And that's the fun part. So look forward to that. - MagicalCaprice  480.7 #442 6:44AM
That's the part I'm looking forward to most. - LaneSparrow316  847.0 #218 8:30AM
That's the only good part. I had a bridge put in and it was very painful, grinding your teeths down to little nubs, exposing the nerve to the air. I was on pain meds for two days. Best. Thing. Ever. - MagicalCaprice  480.7 #442 9:04AM
That just made me cringe!!! Yikes! - LaneSparrow316  847.0 #218 9:05AM
Yep. Two hours in that torture chamber. The sound of drills, grinding your teeth. The promise of medication was what kept me from getting up an punching the dentist. - MagicalCaprice  480.7 #442 9:09AM
I had to get a chipped tooth fixed and they had to grind down part of my tooth to do it and just that hurt. I couldn't imagine 2 hours of it! - LaneSparrow316  847.0 #218 9:26AM
Yeah, neither could I. - MagicalCaprice  480.7 #442 9:30AM
Aw, sweetie!  It's going to be absolutely fine!  I promise.  I was terrified to have mine out also, but it was really very simple :)  And I got to take a few days off and drink smoothies and watch lots of movies and TV!  It will be over before you know it.   - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 6:39AM
Okay :( - EwokLuver  74.1 #4062 6:41AM
Thank you - EwokLuver  74.1 #4062 6:41AM
Take a few deep breaths, think happy thoughts, and power through. You can so do this :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 6:45AM
I've had it done a long time ago. It wasn't that bad. Few days of hanging out on the couch. Lots of MW time to help you through the day! - Mickey_Badge  282.8 #1034 6:41AM
What exactly is scaring you about having your feet pulled? (not being a jerk. I just want to address your concern appropriately. And sometimes just talking about your fear helps) - KissDclown  1089.1 #167 6:42AM
I think feet pulling is very terrifying Kiss. I mean, you use them everyday, so on and so forth, whatever the case may be. - MagicalCaprice  480.7 #442 6:43AM
ROFL! I did not even see that typo....hilarious! - KissDclown  1089.1 #167 6:59AM
πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I would be absolutely terrified! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 7:05AM

Laughing gas is your friend. - Evilstitch  338.5 #709 6:43AM
i will now need that just for fillings, should i get a cavity - misschurro  6362.1 #17 6:47AM
bring a stuffed animal to hold. they gave me a shot, asked me to tell them a story, i slurred 3 words and was OUT. then, what felt like 30 seconds later, i was gently being stroked on my arm to wake up and get a sense of my whereabouts. my bear was next to me. I sat there for about 15 min. - misschurro  6362.1 #17 6:44AM
there musta been laughing gas in there somewhere. maybe no shot? yes, no shot. - misschurro  6362.1 #17 6:45AM
i know it can be scary not knowing, but think good thoughts of our fav place, DISNEYLAND!!!! - misschurro  6362.1 #17 6:46AM
Great advice! I asked my mom (slurred, more like) if we could go shopping when I was done, lol! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 6:46AM
was that question asked in a hazy state??πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ i ate a hamburger and chips for dinner that night-tiny bites. we didn't have Jamba back then, which I would reccomend now. back then, only hippies/ granolas made smoothies πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ - misschurro  6362.1 #17 6:50AM
Definitely in a hazy state! My mom was like, "uh, no. We'll go when you can walk and talk properly" πŸ˜‚ We didn't have a Jamba in my town, but I made my own smoothies. Would have been nice not to! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 6:56AM
Been there, done that. The recovery is a bit annoying, but the procedure itself is no big deal. Use the sympathy card and try for free stuff!😜 - Tom  11116.2 #6 6:44AM
Its not as bad as you think . Ask the dentist for Lots of nitrous oxide and novicane . I had four pulled and was like a champ the next day . Good luck πŸ‘ - DisneyByMarco  1406.9 #123 6:46AM
Thanks! I have to get all four out...I'm 17 so my mom said it won't be that bad because they aren't fully grown but I'm still pretty nervous :/ - EwokLuver  74.1 #4062 6:53AM
oh sweetie, you will be fine. you are at a great age to get them out. be sure to swish after eating :) - misschurro  6362.1 #17 6:54AM
Let us know how you are feeling after your visit . - DisneyByMarco  1406.9 #123 7:00AM
You'll be okay, it's really not that bad! We work up our nerves before things like this but then once you do it you realize it was nothing :) Good luck! - Sheilamo  318.2 #811 6:48AM
true. and thenEwokLuver will be sharing their story on how easy it was :) - misschurro  6362.1 #17 6:56AM
I'm guessing it's almost time for you to go in--good luck!  We will be thinking of you!  :) Later, when you feel up to it, let us know how it goes!  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 6:59AM
Aww you will be fine. I remember I had all 4 pulled at the same time and I was under general anesthesia so I didn't feel any pain during or after. It was uncomfortable, but I took it easy and rested a lot. Before they start just take a few deep breaths and close your eyes. I hope everything goes smoothly! Sendin some pixie dust for ya!! πŸ˜„βœ¨βœ¨βœ¨πŸ˜„ - Aurora_2020  263.9 #1223 7:01AM
Thanks everybody for your wonderful advice :) I really do appreciate it. You guys really are like my other family :)..I am now on my way to the docs - EwokLuver  74.1 #4062 7:06AM
You got this! βœ¨πŸ€βœ¨πŸ‘ - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 7:14AM
I've all of my wisdom teeth pulled (3 at one time) and it wasn't bad at all. I was numb (but awake) and did not feel any thing at all as my teeth were pulled and I didn't have any swelling after. When you are in the chair, close your eyes and picture your favorite Disney day. Think of each ride you will get on, the snacks you will eat, the sounds, the smells. The mind is powerful and it'll be over before you know it. It only takes a few minutes. Good luck! :) - Vegan7LuvsStitch  1026.3 #178 7:14AM
Fear not the Lord is with you always. May the watch over your Surgery and guide the Dentists hand. May your recovery be smooth and quick. In Jesus name - E-Ticket  1466.8 #115 7:20AM
I had mine pulled a few years ago and i was only a little sore after. I remember eating pizza for dinner that night and going back to work the next day. I actually had 6 pulled! I had 2 extra on top that never came through. - MXPrincess399  753.7 #250 7:37AM
I'll tell you this, it does kinda suck, but you can't feel nothin and you'll have better teeth in the long run. - MJisMM  31.0 #5884 7:38AM
Good luck, kiddo!!! I appreciate this post since I'm getting my top two out this summer (don't have any on the bottom, thank Jeebus)  and I'm a little nervous as well. - LaneSparrow316  847.0 #218 8:23AM
Had all of mine surgically removed from my jaw (severely impacted, all of them) at one time under anesthesia. That's going pretty extreme. I did fine. The recovery while the soft tissues heal can be annoying, but with pain management and taking good care of the wound sites, you'll be fine. - ThatStarWarsKimberly  408.0 #551 8:30AM
I got mine extracted the hard way - one side with local anesthesia the first time and the other side with general anesthesia. If you have a choice, get them all taken out at the same time. Then, as the others have pointed out, a lot of rest, soft foods, TV, and pain meds. No worries!! - EpicDio  460.3 #473 8:43AM
I just had a major root canal with an abscess. I was terrified!!! But, to my surprise it did not hurt a bit. My dentist numbed me up really good and all I felt was pressure, no pain though. I didn't even get Meds after, only took ib profin. As long as I was on the ib profin every 6 hours or so I felt no pain at all. Good luck, you'll do fine :) - Nicole  380.2 #590 9:15AM
I had all mine taken out, plus TWO root canals. But that's British teeth for ya πŸ˜‰. Hope it all went well!! Do exactly what they say, and all will heal just fine.πŸ’— - Sweet_Irish_Cream  4409.0 #32 9:25AM
You'll be fine. Remember soft foods and NO straws... You'll get dry socket and thats no bueno. Take it easy and take your meds. Also ice your face to reduce swelling.... Feel better sweetie - LolatheSlush  237.5 #1504 10:26AM
****UPDATE in bed right now in a plethora of pain watching beauty and the beast...thank you guys for calming me down and for helping me get through this :) you guys had a lot to do with me not hyperventilating in the office so thank you all and love you guys! :) - EwokLuver  74.1 #4062 12:31PM
great tohear 😊enjoy the movie and get some rest. p.s. did you slur or drool?? - misschurro  6362.1 #17 12:32PM
For future reference, they can prescribe sleeping meds to take before you go in so you're loopy. I had to do that because I don't do IVs and it worked. But I guess my advice doesn't help now lol glad to hear everything went okay! Hope you heal without any complications - ladylikesdisney  945.0 #197 12:33PM
Thanks for the update! Glad everything went smoothly--enjoy your movie and have a nice nap :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  613.1 #331 12:35PM
Heyyyy! You made it! All up hill from here! Did they knock you out or just give you local? Have some ice cream and relax! - LaneSparrow316  847.0 #218 12:37PM
I'm sure I was of no help. Unless your on some serious pain meds. Then you're welcome. - MagicalCaprice  480.7 #442 12:51PM
Hang in there! Hope you feel better soon. - FaithTrustPixiedust  22.7 #6873 12:42PM
