Morning MWers...so I'm really scared because I have to go get my wisdom teeth out in 30 min! Please any advice to calm me down? :( im so scared I woke up with a stomach ache
Look, they're gonna put you on pain meds. And that's the fun part. So look forward to that. - MagicalCaprice

That's the part I'm looking forward to most. - LaneSparrow316 846.9 #108 8:30AM
That's the only good part. I had a bridge put in and it was very painful, grinding your teeths down to little nubs, exposing the nerve to the air. I was on pain meds for two days. Best. Thing. Ever. - MagicalCaprice 480.6 #248 9:04AM
That just made me cringe!!! Yikes! - LaneSparrow316 846.9 #108 9:05AM
Yep. Two hours in that torture chamber. The sound of drills, grinding your teeth. The promise of medication was what kept me from getting up an punching the dentist. - MagicalCaprice 480.6 #248 9:09AM
I had to get a chipped tooth fixed and they had to grind down part of my tooth to do it and just that hurt. I couldn't imagine 2 hours of it! - LaneSparrow316 846.9 #108 9:26AM
Yeah, neither could I. - MagicalCaprice 480.6 #248 9:30AM
Aw, sweetie! It's going to be absolutely fine! I promise. I was terrified to have mine out also, but it was really very simple :) And I got to take a few days off and drink smoothies and watch lots of movies and TV! It will be over before you know it. - Spoonful_O_Sugar

Take a few deep breaths, think happy thoughts, and power through. You can so do this :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar 436.2 #285 6:45AM
I've had it done a long time ago. It wasn't that bad. Few days of hanging out on the couch. Lots of MW time to help you through the day! - Mickey_Badge

What exactly is scaring you about having your feet pulled? (not being a jerk. I just want to address your concern appropriately. And sometimes just talking about your fear helps) - KissDclown

I think feet pulling is very terrifying Kiss. I mean, you use them everyday, so on and so forth, whatever the case may be. - MagicalCaprice 480.6 #248 6:43AM
ROFL! I did not even see that typo....hilarious! - KissDclown 1088.1 #77 6:59AM
πππ I would be absolutely terrified! - Spoonful_O_Sugar 436.2 #285 7:05AM

i will now need that just for fillings, should i get a cavity - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1798.9 #42 6:47AM
bring a stuffed animal to hold. they gave me a shot, asked me to tell them a story, i slurred 3 words and was OUT. then, what felt like 30 seconds later, i was gently being stroked on my arm to wake up and get a sense of my whereabouts. my bear was next to me. I sat there for about 15 min. - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint
1798.9 #42 6:44AM
there musta been laughing gas in there somewhere. maybe no shot? yes, no shot. - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1798.9 #42 6:45AM
i know it can be scary not knowing, but think good thoughts of our fav place, DISNEYLAND!!!! - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1798.9 #42 6:46AM
Great advice! I asked my mom (slurred, more like) if we could go shopping when I was done, lol! - Spoonful_O_Sugar 436.2 #285 6:46AM
was that question asked in a hazy state??ππ i ate a hamburger and chips for dinner that night-tiny bites. we didn't have Jamba back then, which I would reccomend now. back then, only hippies/ granolas made smoothies πππ - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1798.9 #42 6:50AM
Definitely in a hazy state! My mom was like, "uh, no. We'll go when you can walk and talk properly" π We didn't have a Jamba in my town, but I made my own smoothies. Would have been nice not to! - Spoonful_O_Sugar 436.2 #285 6:56AM
Been there, done that. The recovery is a bit annoying, but the procedure itself is no big deal. Use the sympathy card and try for free stuff!π - Tom

Its not as bad as you think . Ask the dentist for Lots of nitrous oxide and novicane . I had four pulled and was like a champ the next day . Good luck π - MarcoInTheAz

Thanks! I have to get all four out...I'm 17 so my mom said it won't be that bad because they aren't fully grown but I'm still pretty nervous :/ - EwokLuver 73.0 #3360 6:53AM

You'll be okay, it's really not that bad! We work up our nerves before things like this but then once you do it you realize it was nothing :) Good luck! - Sheilamo

Aww you will be fine. I remember I had all 4 pulled at the same time and I was under general anesthesia so I didn't feel any pain during or after. It was uncomfortable, but I took it easy and rested a lot. Before they start just take a few deep breaths and close your eyes. I hope everything goes smoothly! Sendin some pixie dust for ya!! πβ¨β¨β¨π - Aurora_2020

I've all of my wisdom teeth pulled (3 at one time) and it wasn't bad at all. I was numb (but awake) and did not feel any thing at all as my teeth were pulled and I didn't have any swelling after. When you are in the chair, close your eyes and picture your favorite Disney day. Think of each ride you will get on, the snacks you will eat, the sounds, the smells. The mind is powerful and it'll be over before you know it. It only takes a few minutes. Good luck! :) - Vegan7LuvsStitch

I had mine pulled a few years ago and i was only a little sore after. I remember eating pizza for dinner that night and going back to work the next day. I actually had 6 pulled! I had 2 extra on top that never came through. - MXPrincess399

Good luck, kiddo!!! I appreciate this post since I'm getting my top two out this summer (don't have any on the bottom, thank Jeebus) and I'm a little nervous as well. - LaneSparrow316

Had all of mine surgically removed from my jaw (severely impacted, all of them) at one time under anesthesia. That's going pretty extreme. I did fine. The recovery while the soft tissues heal can be annoying, but with pain management and taking good care of the wound sites, you'll be fine. - ThatKimberly
335.2 #451 8:30AM
I got mine extracted the hard way - one side with local anesthesia the first time and the other side with general anesthesia. If you have a choice, get them all taken out at the same time. Then, as the others have pointed out, a lot of rest, soft foods, TV, and pain meds. No worries!! - EpicDio

I just had a major root canal with an abscess. I was terrified!!! But, to my surprise it did not hurt a bit. My dentist numbed me up really good and all I felt was pressure, no pain though. I didn't even get Meds after, only took ib profin. As long as I was on the ib profin every 6 hours or so I felt no pain at all. Good luck, you'll do fine :) - Nicole

I had all mine taken out, plus TWO root canals. But that's British teeth for ya π. Hope it all went well!! Do exactly what they say, and all will heal just fine.π - Sweet_Irish_Cream

great tohear πenjoy the movie and get some rest. p.s. did you slur or drool?? - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1798.9 #42 12:32PM
For future reference, they can prescribe sleeping meds to take before you go in so you're loopy. I had to do that because I don't do IVs and it worked. But I guess my advice doesn't help now lol glad to hear everything went okay! Hope you heal without any complications - ladylikesdisney 921.5 #95 12:33PM
Thanks for the update! Glad everything went smoothly--enjoy your movie and have a nice nap :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar 436.2 #285 12:35PM
Heyyyy! You made it! All up hill from here! Did they knock you out or just give you local? Have some ice cream and relax! - LaneSparrow316 846.9 #108 12:37PM
I'm sure I was of no help. Unless your on some serious pain meds. Then you're welcome. - MagicalCaprice 480.6 #248 12:51PM
