Hey guys quick question.. How was ur experience at Disney grand Californian resort?... Which room did u guys like? How convenient is it to the park (knowing that it is the closest)? Thanks for your feedback...
im still trying to sell my first born so I can stay there! LOL JK - PrinceTeaJack

Lol.. Yea it's pricey.. I'm saving up... One day would b good for me..lol - bents 16.4 #5468 9:40PM
It's nice having the room close if you don't like to walk around in wet clothes after water rides like my family. We just go change right after and go back out. It also nice that if you dont want to carry something around all day its not too far away. My father likes to have a park view because he can watch cm get the park ready to open while everyone gets ready, he's an earily bird. Other than that I'm not sure about different room types - SpringLove

I've never been on grizzlys river run and I plan to.. That would b a great idea.. Change of clothes nearby.. - bents 16.4 #5468 9:38PM
The grand is amazing! We just got back and stayed at the Paradise Pier. We had a wonderful view an most of the staff was wonderful... Valet has no clue what's going on we waited like 15 min before anyone came out to help, elevators are SLOW and even if you cut through the grand you're still kinda far. Personally, if you can afford it, stay at the Grand. If you want something very Disney I hear the DLH is awesome. - LolatheSlush

Yea that's what I want.. I want that Disney feel.. That Disney magic.. - bents 16.4 #5468 9:41PM
We have had pool view rooms on both sides of the pool, monorail view and DTD view. Personally I like the DTD view cause you get to see and hear the fireworks through the comforts of your room. And the people watching is amazing! I also like getting up early and watching DTD wake up. One of these years we will get a park view ;-) - PrincessDuckie

That sounds really nice... I am not sure if one day for me will b enough to take everything in from the experience.. But people watching is fun.. Seeing other happy ppl is fun... The DTD view seems cool... - bents 16.4 #5468 9:46PM
GC is on my bucket list as well. Stayed at PP a few years ago. Loved it, had a great view, nice size room and we were treated very well. The only thing I didn't like was the hike to DL, or more to the point the walk back at night after a long day. - DisneyL0V3R

I was a DLH gal, until I switched over to the Grand during the construction. Now I don't think I could go back! I LOVE GC. I've stayed in various locations and prefer the DTD view rooms (above Sephora is my favorite) - mostly because I like to sit on the lanai in the morning with coffee and a glass of wine in the evening and people watch. It can be a long walk to get to your room, so if that's an issue, ask to be near the elevator (and try not to forget things in your room when you head out!). - msdizmaui

Thank u very much for sharing ur experience... That sounds really nice.. I think I might do that.. I was leaning more towards the DTD view as well.. Now that many ppl have mentioned it I know it's good... A drink in hand and ppl watching.. Can't beat that.. Maybe a dole whip in hand lol.. Do they deliver the souvenir purchased in the parks to your hotel?... Is there a must do or a must see in this hotel to experience the whole feel of it?... - bents 16.4 #5468 12:55AM
Try to get on the top floor - you'll have a better view of the fireworks. That's a cool thing to do, although if you're on the lanai, you'll have to turn up the volume on the TV pretty loud to hear the soundtrack! Yes, you can have packages delivered to the hotel, but I believe that they deliver to the bell desk, and then you have to call to have them delivered to your room. Hearthstone Lounge is cool - they also offer special things for guests, like a "power-walk" through DCA before the park opens (I've signed up, but always end up sleeping through it). Napa Rose is one of the best restaurants I've ever been in - you can also order anything from the lounge area (it's expensive, so we just have drinks and appetizers in the bar). The pools are awesome and more of a "grown up" feeling than DLH - which can be good or bad, depending if you have small kids (my youngest is 30...so we like to drink at the pool!). HTH - msdizmaui 518.9 #223 1:55AM
Sounds very nice.. Hmm so the tv has a soundtrack channel...?.. How awesome, Disney songs all night long... I assume the top floors are pricier.. Hmm I'll ask if I may request one... Yea no kids right now, so this sounds fun... Wow u really have helped me out soo much.. But I think one day I not enough time to experience the magic right?..:(.. But I think I have a winner... I'll most likely choose GCH... - bents 16.4 #5468 2:33AM
I went to The Grand for my honeymoon. Pulling up to the Grand is amazing especially with valet parking. The fact that you don't have to carry your own suit case to your room makes you feel so VIP. Once you enter the amazing doors, you are blown away. It has high ceiling and make you feel like your somewhere else ( oh ya I'm at Disneyland), so amazing. My husband and I were handed some balloons and pic of Mickey and Minnie for the special occasion and the best part is they upgraded our standard room to a suite. When we got to our room I almost wanted to die. Our room was at the corner top entrance near bag check for the park. Let me tell you, waking up to the view of Space Mountain without getting out of bed was priceless. The room itself has more of a plain look compared to DH. DH has hidden mickeys all over the room, the room itself is amazing, the Grand itself not so much. So be prepared not to be impressed with the actual room itself, it's not magical like DH. But the view on the balcony is magical. We had lunch up on our balcony. In the morning I was able to enjoy the sunrise and see how beautiful the park looked without any people. Also enjoyed the first night on balcony watching fireworks. If you have kids they probably enjoy DH better but for couples the Grand is awesome if you have the extra money. The lobby is the best with a huge fireplace. So I hope this helps. Enjoy your stay! - adventurerEnDisneylandia {AED}

I've never stayed there (on my bucket list) but it's SO close to the parks. You can enter DCA straight from the hotel and Disneyland is a very short walk. - VeloMouseGirl

I actually like the DLH better - Mrsblue

I agree! Feels like you are in pure magic! - Tataandbeyond 74.8 #3336 9:29PM
Oh yea.. Is the experience different?.. They all seem nice..:) it's hard to choose one.. - bents 16.4 #5468 9:36PM
They are ALL nice for sure! There is something magical about the Disneyland hotel that sets it apart IMO. Maybe the fireworks in the headboard or when they had pixie dust in the border just brings the magic. - Tataandbeyond 74.8 #3336 9:46PM
I just stayed at the Disneyland hotel (thank you Shangz!). It's total Disney magic. - VeloMouseGirl 549.7 #202 9:46PM
I've seen the headboard posted in the lounge.. And that looks really amazing.. Does it also play music?.. I'm not sure if it's true.. DLH def looks really nice.. I'm glad to get everyone's opinion.. Knowing the price and me being on a budget I could choose one.. Who better than the MW family to give their feedback.. Thanks guys... I will probably stay one day only.. - bents 16.4 #5468 9:51PM
I agree with Mrs Blue. The Grand is nice and fancy but I feel the DLH is more Disney if that makes any sense? - Chadco 299.0 #614 10:17PM
Based on your preferences, I'm going to say that dlh is your best bet. The rooms are bigger than the grand and have the Disney magic. Self parking isn't too far, it's an uncovered lot. At the grand, it's across the street, which I think is kind of awkward. - bluefairy 627.1 #174 12:10AM
Oh, it is also cheaper and even though it's further from the parks, you do have the monorail close by. Yes, when you turn on the lights, he headboard will play "a dream is a wish your heart makes" for a few minutes. - bluefairy 627.1 #174 12:11AM
So if you take the monorail, do they do the rope drop at Tomorrowland? Or do you have to wait for the park to open on that side or?? I've only done the rope drop by Plaza Inn and I stayed at a Good Neighbor hotel. (Asking for next time...) - PeachKay 310.6 #556 5:37AM
DLH is the best for that Disney magic... The grand is nice, but I don't feel like I am at Disneyland while I'm there... - Mermaidmommy 32.8 #4251 8:31AM
Never get up early enough for rope drop! - bluefairy 627.1 #174 10:19AM
I personally like the paradise pier hotel better. Bigger rooms for a better price. But the GC is nice too. - lovetheland7

Hmm I will take a look... Thank u for the feedback... - bents 16.4 #5468 9:42PM
I thought it was very nice. Very pricey and probably wouldn't have ever stayed there if it wasn't for this fabulous group and the people that make things happen. - disneygal

We are staying there when we go in 2 weeks. This was definitely on my bucket list. We asked for a park view so we will see what happens. - PrincessSassy
277.9 #746 10:32PM
Exciting.. I'm still trying to decide which hotel.. I guess u really can't go wrong with any.. I will eventually try all of them.. But it's too pricey for me.. I will try one every other year.. Lol if I can.... Hope u post pics.. I would love to c the view and the room..:)... - bents 16.4 #5468 11:48PM
I say the DLH if you are wanting the real Disney magic! There is just an amazingly magical feel there! The headboards are amazing...one of my favorite parts of our stay! If you like the convienience of the special park entrance at GC you are still able to use it if you are staying at any of the resort hotels or you could use the monorail! - diamondangels

The only time I have stayed there our room was at the very end of this loooonnnnggg hallway. Yeah that made me feel welcomed. I went to the little store to get cold medicine for my son and needed a water bottle. They didn't have any, well at least for me they didn't. This man buys some type of medicine and they all of a sudden had water bottles. We used the DCA entrance once and it is no big deal. I used it another time when we stayed at Paradise Pier. They didn't check to see if we were staying at the grand. I didn't find the grand to be everything people says it is. - Lelundrial
341.0 #428 7:52AM
You don't have to stay at the Grand to use the enterance. It's available to any guest staying at the DLR. - LolatheSlush 201.3 #1605 8:52AM
The reason I said that, is because that is what I was told. Everything that I came across really played it as that entrance was for Grand guests only. It still wasn't just that one experience that made me not want to stay there ever again. - Lelundrial 341.0 #428 10:21AM
If you are staying only one night you might skip the Grand because of the $. Unless you are going to spend most of your time at the pool, lobby bar, tours etc. the close entrance might not be enough to justify the cost. - PrincessDuckie
