Was not a fan of the new Grad Night with hordes of students mixed in with the regular crowed. Last night at CA there was plenty of line jumping, vulgar language, screaming and shouting in lines, and some not so appropriate behaviors. Not all were behaving this way but the large groups of 20-30 teens was way over the top. We left early.

In my humble opinion, the real blame for this falls directly on Disneyland and those who did this. Regular park goers, AP's and the everyday ticket buyers are the heart and soul of DLR and our hard earned money pays alot. Kids will be kids we all know but unchaperoned hooligans we always prevail when they are together and without supervision. My advise is to write letters of complaint to Disney as I have and to complain at City Hall. Going back to the after hour Grad Nites with a dress code and properly supervised staff from the schools is a must. - splashphotoCM

I agree with all of this. This was a really bad idea on DL's part. Bottom line: the vast majority of kids will act terribly if you're not strict with them. Give them their own time in the park, enhance security, enforce a dress code, and don't allow bags. - Spoonful_O_Sugar 439.2 #288 10:37AM
Agree 1000%! When I went back in the day, there was a dress code - belle421 14.6 #5867 10:44AM

I agree Alex! We left early last week too! - Zipitydoodahdad 258.3 #940 10:46AM
Our district has stopped and so have many others apparently! Won't be long hopefully! - AvidDisneyThrifter220 873.1 #106 12:37PM
It's to be expected--teens are rowdy, lol, even when they're not using any, um, "extra substances." I was blown away when I read that they'd all be coming in with the regular crowds. Seems like a very bad idea. - Spoonful_O_Sugar

I'm sorry that you had to go threw all of that. Not all teens are bad! I'm graduating this year(next week) and I would love to go to grad night at Disneyland, but our school is doing a boat ride instead(much cheaper). Let me remind you, that everyone was a teen before, yes we all do stupid stuff and some do not. Let them be stupid and enjoy there last night being in high school. There going to look back on it and remember it. I don't think Disneyland is to blame, there making money off the teens. They shouldn't just let AP holders and regular guest in. They should let in anyone they choose. I'm sorry if I offend anyone, but that's my option on this. - pirategirl17
248.5 #1044 10:41AM
I agree with some of this, but most definitely not the "let them be stupid and enjoy" part. When they are in park with other guests, which includes A LOT of children and families, the need to be aware of this and be respectful - Villescas8 593.5 #189 10:44AM
I do agree with you, on the being respectful. I am, I wish every teen could be respectful. - pirategirl17 248.5 #1044 10:51AM
Good to hear that you are, more teens need to see others like you in action - Villescas8 593.5 #189 10:54AM
Of course it's DL's fault, lol. Who else decided to let the grads in with the regular crowds and then didn't take proper measures to ensure that they behaved appropriately in the park? I'd be livid if my kids had to watch a drunk girl vomit in Pizza Port while we were trying to celebrate someone's birthday or if they smelled pot outside of Animation Academy. - Spoonful_O_Sugar 439.2 #288 11:04AM
Not all teens smoke and drink. Adults smoke and drink before they come into the park too. You can't just blame EVERY single teen for how bad grad night is. Also not all adults smoke and drink too. (just wanted to include that) - pirategirl17 248.5 #1044 11:16AM
You're very right, Pirategirl. Not all teens are bad. I agree with what V8 and SOS are saying about not wanting the negative aspects, but it is unfair to judge because of a few bad apples. We tend to see the worst sometimes. I'm sure only 10% of the kids were doing unDisney-like things, but they're the ones that are remembered. - KylaShea 541.3 #215 12:15PM
Oh, I wasn't insinuating that all kids do these things--I honestly didn't, either, but I know for a fact that LOTS of that was going on during my Grad Night 12 years ago, (it was definitely more than just a few bad apples, unfortunately) and it appears to be worse now. Look, my point is that a lot of kids (not all, but a lot) are going to push their limits. Grad Night needs to be an isolated event so that DL security can control it better and enforce those limits. - Spoonful_O_Sugar 439.2 #288 1:49PM
Well that's no bueno. Luckily when we were there Thursday night it wasn't too bad. - LBChica
1560.6 #52 8:26AM
I agree... Thursday night wasn't even bad... VERY doable. Last night, on the other hand.. a couple of people were just walking by Animation Academy just straight out smoking weed on their way to ToT. So many YOLOs and Pauly Ds - LaTruce 1831.6 #44 10:18AM
Wow. I wouldn't think thi funny any other day, but I couldn't help but laugh when my husband was pushing the stroller an kept jerking it forward real fast every time some rude kid ran in front of us - LBChica 1560.6 #52 10:34AM
Hahahahahaha, I would have paid to see that - Villescas8 593.5 #189 10:57AM
Glad to hear Thurs was better than Fri. We will be there this Thurs for my bday. We make make it an early night if it's too much. - LaneSparrow316 846.9 #110 1:29PM
I heard the same thing from a CM. He said it may not even be moved to DCA either, as there are concerns about the new park receiving the same kind of destructive treatment. The decisions should be made by next February, at least that's what he was told. - joyfulmomma 230.7 #1257 10:54AM
So that's what we're paying extra for on the AP's. Now it makes more sense :) - Oinker34 867.7 #107 11:06AM
My daughters school has a dress code and they do bag checks with drug dogs. If all schools were more helpful maybe bad stuff would not happen.
Also I have seen many rude teens with and without parental supervision on regular visits too..... There will always be different types of people at the parks. Not everyone that enters Disney is kind and respectful. - sallyzero13

I noticed in someone's post yesterday evening that the Grads were there while it was still light out. When I went for Grad Night (15 years ago, ugh), we didn't get into the park until late- I want to say it was like 11 or Midnight, and it was ONLY GRADS in the park. . Do they have new hours for the Grad Night events? - belle421
14.6 #5867 9:45AM
Yes, they do have new hours for them. They ate being let in really early during the day while the day guests are there. After the park closes for the guests, they get to stay until 3pm I believe. - Princess_Inez 16.6 #5550 10:07AM
Yes the hours for grad nights this year are rom 10 am till 10 pm per the information I saw at my high school yesterday. My school is going on June 12th so it will be a couple more weeks of this. - Plumiegirl 3529.9 #11 10:09AM
It's kinda hard to hold it against them since I remember when I was a teen (Sadly haven't changed much), but I'm thinkin on the two grad nights that will be going on during my trip will be nice dinner nights for mads and I to avoid it so I don't go into work mode and embarass my kid lol - madsdad

They were there early on Thursday too. We left early because their inappropriate clothing, language, gestures, PDA killed the magic. They should've taken them to six flags instead. - DepBeautySheriffWife

I understand that kids will be kids, but the lack of consideration for the people around them is what kills me! Especially for those who are in the park with their small children. My bf & I decided to swing by the park last Thurs on our way up to N. CA because we didn't want to sit in traffic for ever when we could entertain ourselves instead. Not sure if it was a "Grad Night", but that would explain some obnoxious teens. We just looked @ each other & shook our heads. I would have NEVER behaved like that even when my parents weren't around (and I never did) because I knew if it by some freak chance got back to them, my behind would be grass & my mom would be the lawnmower. My mom used to tell me that all the time, although I'm sure you can imagine that she didn't say "behind"- she used a more colorful word that rhymed with "grass". Like I said, it's the lack of respect for other people and their surrounding that gets me. - belle421

I didn't go to my grad night when I was graduating, because it didn't seem too appealing to me. IM SO GLAD I DIDN'T. my school got banned from ever doing grad nights there. I guess a few students broke into closed attractions and vandalized some things. They didn't walk at graduation, but I didn't think that was enough punishment. Grad night is just a bad idea all together. - hd198789
