I tried to find this answer myself with various keyword searches, on the DL Pass site, etc. I could not. If one purchases an Annual Pass through the mail, is the effective date the day you bought it? Or the first time you use it? I have a feeling it's the former, but wanted to check. I woke up feeling panicky, like I either needed to buy the pass or our hoppers to save some moolah.

I can't be 100% certain, but I think that the pass becomes "active" the first day it's used. So, if I bought my pass today, but didn't use it until June 15, my year would start on June 15th. I would assume it has to be used within a certain time period, though. Again, not 100% certain on this, but that's my understanding. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  436.3 #285 7:22AM

😂😂I know! It's eerie! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  436.3 #285 7:28AM
I'm just hoping I have until October 9th to activate them. :) Okay, if that's so, then I've made my decision to take the plunge NOW. Thanks everyone! - PeachKay  310.6 #558 7:30AM
You probably have to use it by December 31. - JessicaRabbit33  667.9 #156 8:01AM
I believe it doesn't start until the first time you actually use it. Hopeful someone else can confirm. - Mimmy  1405.6 #57 7:21AM
Okay, sounds good. I was reading a few other forums (sorry, MouseWait!) and that seems to be the consensus. It sounds like I would have to activate it before the end of the year. - PeachKay  310.6 #558 7:26AM
Here is the AP Guest Services number--I would call to verify, just in case. They have always been very helpful when I've called, and I've never had to wait on hold for very long. (800) 410-4656 - Spoonful_O_Sugar  436.3 #285 7:30AM
Thank you so much!!!! :) - PeachKay  310.6 #558 7:36AM
Wow, everyone and their dog must be calling.....so far, I've been on hold for almost 15 minutes. :) - PeachKay  310.6 #558 8:12AM
Last December when we purchased it worked as such.  The passes could be purchased prior, but could only be used on a non-blackout day. The first day you used them would be your first date.  If you purchase them the same day, you can go regardless of blackout status. - Squirtortue  311.1 #555 7:28AM
It's the first day you use them, I got one for Christmas (years ago) and didn't use it till June, my renewal date is June. Regular tickets are different I believe. - Pixarprincess  531.4 #215 7:39AM
This is helpful! It was six months before you activated it then....it will be less than five months for us. - PeachKay  310.6 #558 7:47AM
Yup. Didn't have a problem at all (this was back in 2004) I believe you have 12 months from time of purchase. - Pixarprincess  531.4 #215 7:52AM
