Does anybody know what this tunnel is/was for? This pic was taken behind thunder mountain. Was it an old attraction that has since been done away with?
It used to be part of the old Mine Train of Nature's Wonderland. There was a bridge that went over the walkway between Frontierland and Fantasyland and the train would go back in that area. All of the Audio-Animatronics are buried underneath to what is now the Rancho Del Zocalo area. - BaseballMickey_CM

that is partially true...most of them were actually buried back by Big Thunder Ranch...Reason why back there was because they had to fill the land to make it level because that part of the attraction was sunken because of the water features and they trew some of them in there but a lot of them were still used for Big Thunder and some for Big Thunder in WDW - Dave 8630.6 #2 10:07PM
And there's one on the train now too. Thanks for clearing that up Dave - BaseballMickey_CM 2773.3 #16 10:15PM
I was really sad when they had to remove the last of the trains that was shown at the old Cascade falls you could see on the Mark Twain..Talking to Tony Baxter he told me that it was so rusted and in bad shape that they could not do anything with it - Dave 8630.6 #2 10:29PM
I wish I could be around for the archeological dig that finds those old animatronics one day. - lostgirl7988 541.2 #208 10:45PM
if you look directly at Big Thunder Ranch it is separated by one huge rock structure where you can enter the ranch from one side or the other...that rock formation was actually part of the old attraction and the train entered where the entrance to big thunder bbq is then went around and left where you can enter or exit by the petting zoo part - Dave 8630.6 #2 10:56PM
This is the most intriguing historical part of Disney to me! I want more pics of natures wonderland, but can't find many? Dave, you know of any good places to look? - Zipitydoodahdad 257.9 #923 10:57PM
Daveland or Yesterland. - shadowgamer 1954.3 #37 11:06PM
I would say what Shadow said...Daveland has IMO the best collection of old Disney park photos - Dave 8630.6 #2 11:14PM
Searching for Daveland! Side note, I'd love it (and purchase) a copy of Dave's Disneyland tour (hint hint). - Mrs.mouse 419.7 #306 11:16AM
I posted some pics of the ride (old postcards) a few weeks ago. You can find them under my profile. - Gia

Indeed it was. Along with the other huge hole that is sealed up by 2x4's not to far from this opening on the left. It used to be a attraction land I don't remember what it was called but there was a train that went through it. - nickb92

It was originally called Rainbow Caverns Mine Train in 55 when the park opened. There was also the Rainbow Mountain Stagecoach and the Rainbow Ridge Pack Mules. In 1960 it was upgraded to Mine Train through Natures Wonderland. - splashphotoCM

Dave is full of Banana Sauce. Take it from a CURRENT CM. This is the entrance to the underground city at Disneyland. That is where the bank, post office, gym, pool, dance hall, library, poker room and basketball court are located. The exit was bricked over in N.O.S. - BalooTBear

I miss the old exit in NOS...we use to take that underground to the West Side cafe then take the moving sidewalk to the the harbor house and never had to walk on stage - Dave 8630.6 #2 10:54PM
