Ok guys I have a question. I want to take my 2 year old on Pirates and Haunted Mansion when we go to DL next month. Do you guys think it is to much for a 2 year old with the dark and all. She's not afraid of dark at all but I don't want to traumatize her.

She will love it. Just always reassure her that her mommy will always protect her. - kristian  1772.9 #43 10:54PM
No, just hold her really close and talk to her through all the animation and let her know they are cartoons (that's how we explained to our nephew, he's 2). we even took our 11 month old niece she was facinated  - nicealex77  226.0 #1290 10:57PM
If you can take her, this way she won't develop a fear for it because then it'll be harder to get her on, on future trips. So do it early and be supportive mommy - MarshaMouse  2834.9 #15 10:59PM
The stages of growing up is knowing your scared and her knowing you'll be there for her, because life has many scary moments for a little one and they need to strength to know they can overcome that fear, especially with you around - MarshaMouse  2834.9 #15 11:33PM
I dont remember haunted mansion from when I was younger but I do remember being terrified of the gun fire on pirates (now its my favorite ride of course!) I would maybe explain certain things like that to her? - DaisyCrazy  255.1 #956 11:00PM
My two and a half year old daughter will go with me on both rides. She does get startled in the elevator room on HM when the lights go out and you hear the scream with the guy hanging. She was freaked out the first time she went on POTC during the drop, but she is fine now. I would hold her close on both rides. - ScooterMike  1959.8 #35 11:01PM
I think she will be fine. I took my son on pirates for the first time when he was around 7 months and he liked it. I would just hold him tight for the drop. Now he is three and won't stop singing " yoyo yo yo pirate life for me". - thestalkerNIN  335.2 #447 11:27PM
I took my son to one dark ride, then followed with a happy ride like Winnie the Pooh. The happy ride will makes him out of any scary and fills him with happiness. - RapunzalK  180.0 #1861 11:41PM
Thanks Guys - PrincessSassy  277.9 #742 11:46PM
I'm sure it will be fine we took r niece at 5 months n she loved it n loves all the rides she's almost 2yrs old now. - HanLostLeia  1092.5 #76 11:48PM
I take my 2 year old on both rides. She does get a little scared with the drops on pirates and the shooting but we just hold her close and she's fine. It seems the older she gets the more she knows what's scary. When she was younger she was all about those rides. If she cried I wouldn't make her go on it though. - Salfam  215.9 #1399 2:22AM
We took my nephew/Godkid on when he was 3 months! He didn't complain and actually enjoyed the sites. It's a great trust building moment, go for it! - 559MickeyLover  266.9 #855 4:05AM
We took my daughter on both attractions when she was 2 and she did great. She's 3 now and POC and HM (holiday) are 2 of her favorites. It really depends on the child. Some children are afraid of The Many Adventures of WP. Some are thrill seekers. Best of luck! - LaPearleNoir  571.9 #192 6:27AM
I've been taking my kids since they were born!! Literally a month old - Beautylovesherbeast  33.9 #4211 6:42AM

I first took my son when he was 2 and he was just fine. - Lelundrial  339.6 #431 7:52AM
Both of my kids have been going on both of those attractions since they were 5-6 months old. We visit twice a year usually. Never had a problem with either of them. They are 5 and almost 3 now. The oldest has been saying since his last trip in the beginning of December that Pirates is his favorite attraction at Disneyland. - Disneylanddad702  401.7 #328 8:05AM
My 3 year old niece gets a little scared when people scream in the elevator when the lights go out and she covers her ears. We just talk to her and hold her close. She is fine on the rest of the ride. Good luck! - Vegan7LuvsStitch  799.6 #116 8:55AM
What we did was let my daughter watch The Haunted Mansion ride on YouTube. So she can get an idea of what it was like. When we were on the ride she would point out what she remembered. Now POTC and The Haunted Mansion is two of her favorite rides that we have to go on each time we go to DL. :) - LizO™  470.0 #258 9:02AM
I started my son early. He rode both rides starting at 3 months old. I have noticed lately that he has developed a fear of the dark and will not ride the dark rides at night. A couple nights ago he refused to get into the POTC boat so we exited. We took him again a couple days later during the day and he was a bit hesitant but rode the ride fine. It really depends on your child. I don't recommend forcing them but gauge your decision based on their reaction. Hope this helps! - EpicDio  381.6 #353 9:07AM
It might be a little loud. My sister and I cover my nieces ears. we hold her really close to make her feel safe. have a good time ! - luze  17.5 #5341 10:25AM
Thank you everybody so much.  We have been showing her everything Disney related for at least 18 months.  So she has been exposed to it for a while.  Only 19 more days to go. - PrincessSassy  277.9 #742 10:36AM
