Hey *MWers* I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I'd like to ask you something but before I do I'd like to apologize for it not being Disney related. First, I want to share with you this quick story. As of now it's been 2 long years that i have been growing my hair out to donate to a beautiful charity "Locks of Love" and I'm preparing do donate it in December. My best friend got a beautiful hairpiece through this charity while she was going through cancer. This really helped brighten her beautiful smile and it helped her go through cancer in so many ways. I started growing my hair in her honor, I stopped dying my hair, I stopped curling as much or blow drying it as much just to keep it as healthy and clean as possible. I'm past the 10 inch minimum to donate but I'd like to do as much as I could to benefit these young children and adults who are going through the same/similar situation as my friend. Anything always helps! My mom and my sister are doing this with me too, my mom just got her hair cut and we are saving it until December when I cut my hair. I'd like to include anyone who thinks they can participate or support this cause. I'm still looking into holding a "Locks of Love" even, I emailed the organization for more information on holding this event. My question is if anybody is interested in participating? I know that it's a lot to ask somebody to do and I completely understand. So I'd like to have your thoughts please! Thank you in advance! **the details to this are still being worked out, Ive gotten some great suggestions to another organization like LOL but that benefits more people. I've never donated hair before and I think it's best to trust those who have done it before bc they know te process and the organization. So I'm now looking into the "Pantene Beautiful Lenghts" program**
I help out was well! I remember that I think I cut my hair at a couple feet. (my hair was SUPER long, then whenever I went into a Kay's Jeweler, I would help St. Jude's by buying a polar bear) - ArdySarrafFan

Wow you are so awesome!!! You inspire me! Its so hard to care of long hair but you made someone so happy by doing that and by helping St. Jude's too! 💜 I'm sending you a hug! - gigibunny2 242.7 #1079 10:49PM
Thank you for doing this. My sister is going through chemo right now, she also donated her hair before chemo had a chance to ruin and take it. Her hair has already fallen off from her first session. - jaysmom

My prayers are with you and your family. Your family sounds very strong and well bonded, you will all pull through it together. Family is so important and I know that when somebody hurts, everyone hurts. It's not an easy thing to go through and I admire you for being so strong about it. ✨ - gigibunny2 242.7 #1079 8:42AM
I'm a costumer at a performing arts school. We just did the musical thoroughly modern Mille. It's set in the 20's ( bobed hair) I had about 18 girls donate 19-10 inches of hair. A total of 202 inches of hair. We got 6 stylist to cut at one time. The bonding for the girls was amazing that they were helping so many people. Locks of love was easy to work with. An life changing experience for these high school girls. Best of luck and thank you for giving of yourself. - sewedna

Wow that's really amazing! ✨ these girls are such great role models! - gigibunny2 242.7 #1079 8:37AM

The minimum for a wig is 10 inches but any type of hair length donation, to them, is helpful. If its less than 10 inches they can use it for a hair piece :) - gigibunny2 242.7 #1079 10:43PM
When I get over my fear of cutting my hair this time around best believe I will donate it. :) When I was about 15 I donated, I love the idea! - AshleyLynn22

I have that same fear! Believe me...I only cut it once to a short length and Idk how I did it. But it feels like a scary thing! - gigibunny2 242.7 #1079 10:51PM
Locks of Love is a scam (one I fell for myself) please read up on it before sending in your precious locks! I say this because I want you to be happy, not feel cheated.❤ - DuffysJuju

I only know one end of the organization but any information to send this hair out in good hands will help. This is why I turn to MW. Than you! I'd love your help - gigibunny2 242.7 #1079 11:01PM
I donated 14 inches of my hair last new years eve to Pantene Beautiful Lenghts. I made the donation in honor of my best friends sister who had and beat lymphoma. Seeing her lose her hair and smile while going thru chemo was sad and made me do it even more! Brought a smile to my face after she found out what I did in her honor. She is now the same amazing mother and wife she was before going through that. I chose beautiful lenghts after doing research and finding out it is a better organization than LoL that sells their donatedhair. - ScarfGirl

Thank you for sharing your story. I'd love to know more about this organization. I only know one end of the LOL organization but I'd do anything to really help those who need this like you friend's sister. I only know about the LOL bc of my friend and since I'm preparing to donate my hair I'm now starting to do my research on donating. - gigibunny2 242.7 #1079 11:06PM
If I weren't follicle challenged I would gladly help out. - donnievegas

That's so awesome! - gigibunny2 242.7 #1079 11:10PM
I believe you only have to donate 8 inches to pantene and it's 10 inches for locks of love! I'm a hair dresser and idk if this has changed but I think that's correct! You can also look into salons doing a charity/cut athon and that is where they will get a group of there stylist to cut people's hair for free as long as they have enough to donate. So check with your hair dresser and see if he/she can get some of her staff members inon it to help you out - MelB

If you do set up an event I am more than willing to donate my time to cut hair. If you need a salon space, I'm sure I'll be able to help you out there too. - JenInWonderland
1025.1 #86 6:16AM
That is so awesome! Thank you! I think you are now my favorite hair stylist! :) I would love for this to be a MW event bc MWers are the most thoughtful people and I bet we can get a lot of hair donated. Are you near Anaheim? - gigibunny2 242.7 #1079 8:26AM
My salon is in Brentwood/West LA. You could probably find a public space like in a gym you could also hold it. I've done an event like this at UCLA before. - JenInWonderland 1025.1 #86 10:48AM
I'm sorry...I don't have any advice for you but I wanted to say that this is a very gracious, kind and selfless thing you are choosing to do. You are pretty darn awesome 👍🌟 - Aquata
292.2 #659 6:19AM
Thank you Aquata! Im considering this as a MW event once I get the details done. I think that all of the MWers are awesome for helping in every way even with support - gigibunny2 242.7 #1079 8:35AM
My daughter did this a few times as she has grown up. She understood how amazing it was that she was helping people who were sick. Anyone can do this, all you have to do is find a salon that participates in the program and the hair cut is FREE! - dimplesdanie

That's a really beautiful thing to do that young. Thank you for sharing this. And it is an amazing thing to help people who are sic. Your daughter sounds like a really great person. And thank you for your advice. ☺ - gigibunny2 242.7 #1079 8:32AM
I've donated to both programs but like the Pantene one better because they will take 8" of hair. I may be getting too much gray hair now to continue but it is such an easy thing to do for folks going through a very tough time. - Plumiegirl
3344.9 #10 8:54AM
Thank you for your input. I think this will definitively be the organization of choice. Since I've never donated before, I am going with your advice. Thank you! - gigibunny2 242.7 #1079 8:59AM
I really wish I could do this however my hair isn't quite long enough to donate the required amount! I want to cut my hair too but would love to donate it. Maybe I'll have to hold out hope that it will grow a lot and quickly!! - IDVandalSkipperCM
1296.6 #63 10:28AM
I'm now looking into the Pantene program and the requirement is 8 inches. I'm holding the event in December and I would love to include you if you can. You don't necessarily have to donate but maybe just spread the word and your support is sufficient. I'll keep everyone updated. Thank you! :) it's terribly hard to grow hair, lol I know. Ive been trying for 2 years and I finally have some length! Lol - gigibunny2 242.7 #1079 10:41AM
