Ok guys...I need some friendly advice. My grandma who is 76 years old currently lives in Florida. She has been having some health issues so she flew out here to California today and found a place in San Diego that she wants to move into to be closer to us. She asked me if I would be willing to fly to Florida, pack up her house, and have everything shipped out to California. I told her I would do anything to help!! I'm a single mommy and I don't have a whole lot of extra money so she said she would pay airfare, rental car, and a hotel. Im going to go to Florida for a week by myself because my girls have school. But guess who lives an hour from the Magic Kindom? Yup...grandma!! My grandma knows how much of a "Disney Freak" that I am and told me I should take one day and go to Disney World as a thank you. This would be a dream come true especially because I wouldn't have the money to go on my own. The issue I am having is I want to go so badly but I can't stop thinking about my girls not being with me. I told my oldest daughter tonight and she seemed excited for me but I'm having a hard time telling my six-year-old. I'm not sure what to do? This might be my only opportunity to go! What do you guys think?

If it were me, I would go. I would bring them something back and then begin some sort of savings plan with them. Doesn't necessarily have to be anything big, could even be a coin jar, but something to show them that you do hope and plan to take them to this magical place someday. That's my two cents anyways. If you do go, i hope you have fun. 😉 - DisneyMomma  259.5 #930 9:32PM
Oh I love this idea. That is a great idea of having a "savings jar" or something similar. It could help also teach them the importance of savings. Honestly it will take a long time to save before we could all go together...but hey...it's still something to look forward too! I'm just so use to do everything with my girls! We are blessed to be able to go to Disneyland as much as we do with our AP's. I dont have a ton of extra money but i do put money aside every month to go! But your right...I'm sure it will be okay to go to the Magic Kindom by myself (well just this one time that is). :) - ohhhtoodles  365.2 #396 9:52PM
I was a single mommy for 11 years! The fact that you are even asking this question shows that you are a good mom! I don't know you but I know you deserve it! I believe that when the time comes there is a special place in heaven for mommies who sacrifice so much and raise the little ones all on their own! It's very rewarding but tough for sure! You go and treat yourself to a wonderful time!! I'll bet your girls would be glad to see you happy and getting to do something special!!! You can share pictures and tell them all about it when you get back!! I hope you have a magical time :) - brittandkell  324.8 #519 9:52PM
Oh my gosh...you are Sooo very sweet! I just adore being a mommy so much! My kids mean the world to me and that is why I'm struggling with this topic so much. But I think I'm going to go and bring them back some surprises from the park. Your right...and I do agree that There is a special place in heaven for mommies like us! But I feel like God has already blessed me already with two beautiful children! - ohhhtoodles  365.2 #396 10:09PM
I agree completely! It's hard as a single mom to enjoy yourself apart from your kids. (I have always been a single mom. My daughter is almost 17.) Go and have a blast. You know you will think of them and buy them things. :) I always do when I'm away from my daughter. It's not like you don't treat them as the most important thing they are 24/7. :) - PeachKay  310.8 #572 10:10PM
I say go. Do a good recon job, take lots of pix, bring back cool stuff. Would you consider moving to Florida? How far are you from DL? I am thinking about about moving to Florida near the Tampa area. Does she want to rent her house to me? XD This kind of opportunity comes once in a lifetime. Go. - splashphotoCM  882.6 #104 9:47PM
No...can't move to Florida (all my family lives here besides her). I live about an hour from DL so I feel blessed I can go often. I have not been to Florida since I was ten but I'm excited to go! Anything to help grandma!! - ohhhtoodles  365.2 #396 9:56PM
Than that's different. But go anyway. XD - splashphotoCM  882.6 #104 10:23PM
But grandmas place is going up for rent! :) - ohhhtoodles  365.2 #396 7:33AM
I would go and take lots of pics and bring them something cute. And maybe someday you could take them - Jimineycricket  197.1 #1706 9:24PM
You should go(: - disneylandlover26  5.0 #10739 9:24PM
First off I wish yourgrandma all the best and hope she gets better soon. I think you have done a great job being a single mommy and deserve a little something special. Just make sure to buy both your girls a very special present from the magic kingdom. No one would blame you for indulging in something you really want to do! :) I just went in august and had a blast so I know you will too! - 1derland  67.8 #3505 9:28PM
I would go. Helping Grandma is something you will always remember and feel good about. WDW is a pretty sweet bonus as well! - ScooterMike  1959.8 #37 9:29PM
Oh no! so the girls won't be going with you??  But since you are there.... how can you not? - PinkElephants  653.5 #166 9:31PM
Gooooooo. Daughters are understanding little people. They would love magic for their mom. You make sacrifices everyday. It's ok to do something for yourself. - sewedna  103.4 #3035 9:35PM
I say go! And bring the girls back really great souvenirs! You deserve a break and something good for yourself every once in awhile to! And maybe one day when your girls are older the three o you will find a way back to WDW together!! 😊 - CourtyAstroBlisters  450.1 #276 9:35PM
Hi girly! How are you? - ohhhtoodles  365.2 #396 10:19PM
I would go and enjoy WDW and buy your girls something.... - JLAC  214.4 #1457 9:36PM
The opportunity to go and to not take it could haunt you with regret someday. I would say go because it is something you'll remember for the rest of your life, and it's two fold. Your helping your grandma which is super cool of you AND going to WDW. - Donaldfan_532  227.2 #1306 9:37PM
If you don't think your gonna make it back, you go. - streetsweeper  446.6 #284 9:38PM
I think it would be different if you were taking your kids to Florida with you and then going to DW alone. They are staying here while you go. Take the opportunity and treat yourself to a day at DW, especially if you know this kind of opportunity won't come up again. Have fun! Your grandma is awesome for making it happen for you! And you are awesome for helping her as well! - DizGeek  453.3 #273 9:47PM
Can I keep the girls while your away!!! Just kidding! Please give them Big hug and kiss from me! I love them soo much! - Zipitydoodahdad  258.3 #940 10:22PM
Ahh Zip! Your so sweet! I will give both of them a big kiss from you! But you gotta give little miss Stinky Tink a big kiss from me too! I miss you guys! - ohhhtoodles  365.2 #396 10:26PM
