Hi Everyone. I've been really concidering joining Weight Watchers and see that a lot of you are having success with it. I just have a couple of questions. Are you going to meetings or doing the online version? Does it seem like it would be a good option for a vegetarian (I eat fish though)?

Hey Jen - here is my insight. I joined Weight Watchers in July of this last year. By the end of November I had lost 30 lbs. I really was really into it. I have the membership where you have unlimited meetings and then also free eTools. When December came around the roads got rough. I stopped going to my meetings due to holiday madness. I gained. Then I went back Jan. lost 5 before the tink. Then I stopped tracking stopped caring all of feb and most of march..... till last week where I jumped back in full force. I realized something that was bothering me. I LOVE LOVE LOVE MY MEETING LEADER! He is by far the sweetest most energetic guy every…. he always gives amazing inspiration and advice on this journey… however…. I did not enjoy the following anymore. a.) Waking up early to make it to my weigh in meeting on saturdays. I would be at the parks late on fridays and then be zoo blah about getting up. b.) I would weigh in on saturday and for whatever reason go into this oh i can have a realized saturday and sunday because"i have all week to make up for it" attitude.  So after analyzing the situation I have decided that my weigh in day should be Mondays ( during office hours no meetings) and should I feel that I am having an off week…. I go to the saturday meetings for more of an inspiration thing. For me personally……. The meetings were important to me int he beginning. It really comes down to if you get a good leader or not imo. I went to a few meetings where the meetings were so meh. But my guy rocks. I feel that meetings and having to go into a place to WI with someone helps hold me acceptable. Now with that being said I know a lot of people who have been extremely successful just using etools. For me eTools is 100%  the reason that WW works for me. I am able to use my iphone or ipad…..I would not be able to do WW if i had to track on paper. For me it would not work at all. I NEED ETOOLS to be successful. Now there are other apps out there like Dottis weight lose… that have points to which I end up using as well…. but just having your food journal at your finger tips, your points calculator all right there…. its just so simple. This may sound heartless but honestly I feel that weight watchers is the easiest, simplest, user friendly program out there. It boggles my mind when people can not be successful on it and blame the program…. I am sorry if this comes of harsh but if you do not lose weight on weight watchers ….. it is because you are not working for the program it has nothing to do with the program not working for you. I do not know that much about vegetarian options but i do know that a few people in my meetings are members and are able to do the program, infect one lady just hit goal the other week:) ANother cool thing about Etools is the community and boards that are out there for members…. if you need advice,  a place to vent (they have blogs) or just to make some friends who also are going through the same thing they have countless boards.  Sorry geez I wrote a lot…. lol I have stubbled with my weight my whole life. I was always the "bigger" girl. You know losing weight is hard…. even on weight watchers you have to ask yourself is this worth that many points, is there something that is a better choice that will satisfy my cravings, tracking yes its tedious it can be hard…… I am not going to sugar coat it any weight lose journey is hard, but so is being unhealthy … you just have to decide what "hard" you want to tackle for the rest of your life:0) <3 - BooEve123  800.3 #115 11:44AM
I agree with ALL of this! I am down 25lbs on WW. If you do what you are supposed to, you lose. Period. I find the app incredibly convenient and helpful. I do the online only program, but only because I live in a small town and the few meetings offered in my area do not fit my work schedule. I think you should absolutely sign up. It has changed the way I look at food and how I eat. I still am able to hbe my favorite foods I have just learned how to find balance in my diet. - LisaMouse7531  409.1 #317 12:51PM
more to what Lisa said.... you really can have your favorite foods still. You can. You just need to be smart about it. I mean a simple example i always give is that I love toritllas lol. LOVE EM. But some tortialls just 1 is 5 points!!!! that is alot of points... but if you are willing to spend an extra 75 cent you can get carb balance once that honestly tatste great and are only 2 points. This weekend i ate out 4 times! That is a lot of eatting out.... wait a sec!!!!! I HAD ALL YOU CANE AT SUSHI LMBO...... i just looked int he food journal I ate 30 peices of sushi yes 30!!!! But you know what those 30 sushi were only 28 points.... if I had 30 wings that would have been 90 points! I want a candy..... so be it... I have it. I track it, and go for a 30 min walk... just a stroll to make up for half of it. I want taco bell... so be it too! Instead of nahos I get something from their fit menu. The possibilities are endless with WW. You make the plan work for you and it will as long as you work for it :) - BooEve123  800.3 #115 1:00PM
Boo, WW should hire you, lol! Your enthusiasm is contagious! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  436.0 #285 6:42PM
^^^^What they said!! I love WW. Meetings are key for me. I love my meeting. - vernswifevickie  348.6 #416 6:55PM
Thanks for the great advice!! I know myself and probably won't go to the meetings. I'm going to sign up for the online version and see how it goes. Going to stop at target and get a good scale and tape measure. Hopefully skinny days are ahead! Looking forward to it! - JenInWonderland  1025.1 #86 2:49PM
