So besides the obviouse we all want to look dead sexy... why do you want to lose weight :) I would love, if you fell comfy, to find out why are you trying to be healthy what gets your through the hard days, what gives you motivation and what is your final goal besides that small pants size:)

This is a great question, Boo! Like all of us, I have many of the same reasons already mentioned for wanting to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle. But my biggest reason is that I want 1Corinthians 10:31 to be true in my life: "So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." I'm weary of feeling ashamed of my compulsive overeating and turning to food for comfort and satisfaction. I want my life to be a life of freedom and liberty...not one of being enslaved to destructive eating habits and laziness....so there we go :) That's my main reason. - vernswifevickie  374.1 #377 4:31AM
Vickie i love this... thank you so much for sharing your reason behind a healthier lifestyle:) I to find myself turning to food for comfort and that verse truly is beautiful:) - BooEve123  800.9 #121 9:58AM
Awww...thanks Boo! I was hesitant to share this at first. I never want to be "that person" who comes off as preachy or "religious" ... So thank you for your kind words ((hug)) - vernswifevickie  374.1 #377 5:58AM
this is a couple fold questions for me: 1. My blood pressure was bad.... really bad so they put me on blood pressure medication. I tried a few different ones and they all made me so dizzy. I decided you know what... I dont want to be in my mid 20's and on Blood pressure medication. 2. I know it is probably still light years away... but I want to look stunning on my wedding day. Whenever that may be. 3. One day I really hope to have kids and I hope that my body after kids can get half way back to hotty mc hottness lol... but really I want to be able to keep up with my kids one day. I can not get over how tired I get when I eat poorly. it brings me down. I want energy. I want beau to always be able to look at me be think my gf ( hopefully one day wife) is a knock out.... heck I wanna look int he mirror and think dannnng whose that girl shes a knock out :). I want to be able to improve my running pace because movment and mobility is something I feel many of us take forgranted. Okay im done... your guys turn.  - BooEve123  800.9 #121 3:25PM
Boo, I totally get what you mean, but you'll look stunning on your wedding day no matter what! - PirateQueenBriezy  291.4 #678 12:24PM
I was really worried about the way I would look on my wedding day, I didn't get any where near my goal and unlike the brides I read about online I gained weight in the weeks leading up because I was so stressed and busy I ate everything in sight. I am already 15 lbs lighter than I was that day almost 5 months ago and I still think I looked gorgeous! I look happy and that shines through! - LisaMouse7531  409.4 #325 1:33PM
You are inspiring! I only wish I would have started caring more at your age and not waited so long to get healthy. You are on the right track and your quality of life is better each day that you treat yourself to healthy food and exercise. You will be a beautiful bride, and a great example to your future children. - D55CR  245.7 #1068 5:11PM
To be healthy and to be able to continue to enjoy time with my husband now that our kids are almost gone. He exercises every day, always has, and is very healthy (although he has horrible genetics - heart disease, diabetes). He is healthy and I want to be, too, so that I can continue to travel and have fun for many years! - PrincessKristin  776.9 #125 5:16PM
:) Love this! It is great that you have him to look up to for the working out:) - BooEve123  800.9 #121 10:00AM
I've always been incredibly active: was a gymnast as a young girl and played all kinds of sports in junior high and high school.  I started running regularly when I was 16 and have loved it ever since!  Then, I started coaching and I was even more insired because I assumed the role of a mentor to young girls.  Being healthy kinda became a priority my third year of college: the pressure of transferring schools and adjusting to a new life got to me, and I had kinda quit working out and eating well. Then, I came down with a bout of bronchitis that took 9 months and countless rounds of antibiotics and steroid inhalers to treat. I felt awful and swore I'd never be in that position again--I've been diligent with my workouts for years now and have not had much of an issue with my asthma since I've kept my lungs strong. I love strength and flexibility training, but cardio is really important for me. The added bonus is that I've pretty much had my weight under control for most of my life: I'm a bit heavier now than I have been in the past, but I also have to accept the fact that I'm getting older, lol. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  439.1 #288 9:19PM
I turn 40 in August of '13. My motivation is to be a hot mama at 40. It hit me hard last summer that if I didn't do anything I'd be fat and frumpy forever. I think I've come a long ways. I was 221 when I started this journey last June. I've totally slacked lately and should be done, but it is what it is. I want to learn how to paddle board and know I need to get fit first. Then there's this Castaway Cay thing this summer I fully intend to be in a bikini for ;) - 415beachgirl  469.0 #263 11:19PM
first off you do not look like your turning 40! You look great!!!! Paddle boarding looks so fun! I have to learn how to swim better first tho:) - BooEve123  800.9 #121 10:02AM
I don't think I'm a good swimmer, either. The board floats, as long as we don't lose it, we're good! - 415beachgirl  469.0 #263 12:07PM
I thought you were ten years younger--you really do look great! I want to try paddle boarding, too. We sometimes go kayaking, and it's so much fun being on the water! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  439.1 #288 8:40PM
I have always loved running and working out. When I lived in Arizona and Germany, I was able to walk everywhere! Believe it or not, walking is an awesome way to lose weight and stay in shape. Since moving to Las Vegas and being in nursing school, I have had long car commutes and I have had to work long hours (sometimes 14 hours per day) so I did not exercise for sometime. My blood pressure skyrocketed to 140/100 and I gained 20-25 lbs. I could not believe how unhealthy I had become. I want to have babies soon so I'm trying to get back to my pre-nursing school body. I want to have a healthier lifestyle and eventually, healthy babies ☺ - PirateQueenBriezy  291.4 #678 12:19PM
Thanks for sharing :) My whole family is from germany I wish I could go one day! I agree walking is great I am rying to go on a 20-30 min lunch walk every day before eatting just to get in that mile and a half:) - BooEve123  800.9 #121 3:17PM
I want to lose weight to help with my self esteem, which in turn helps make me a better wife and person in general. I want to lose weight so that I am at my potential, I suffer from anxiety problems and eating healthy and working out help to minimize the issues I have with it. I also want to lose weight so that when and if we have children I will have a healthy pregnancy and be a good example to my child. - LisaMouse7531  409.4 #325 1:31PM
Those are very noble reasons and I'm sure you can do this. You are worth it! Keep it up. - D55CR  245.7 #1068 5:08PM
lov ya girl! - BooEve123  800.9 #121 5:33PM
Thanks ladies! - LisaMouse7531  409.4 #325 10:10PM
I was in pretty good shape until my twins were about 2 years old and I got depressed, stopped working out and taking care of myself in general. My marriage started to fall apart and it just spiraled. I also work the night shift so its hard to schedule working out in. I just don't feel like myself now. I remember standing taller and feeling like I could do anything when I was healthier. I just want that feeling back. Being recently single again has lit that fire again too. Oh and the next half is coming up! Eek! - supertracy  435.6 #290 5:13AM
Wow they sounds like a lot of major changes in just a few years. I feel like I shouldn't complain about no work out time since my schedule is during the day at least, workings nights must be so hard. Congratulations on getting that fire back, are doing any certain weight loss program? A lot is us on here are doing Weight Watchers, I highly recommend it. - LisaMouse7531  409.4 #325 7:03AM
WWW woot woot! I know exactly what you mean. It is so funny I was with this guy ( my now ex) for about 5 years. It really was a disastrous relationship I have ZERO clue why I stayed in it so long. He was so so hateful to me about my weight of being bigger. He said some really not MW friendly stuff to me :-/.... he thought it would help but that just made me more depressed. Then one day I was like I need to do this for myself to prove him wrong.... so at that time i joined Lindora...... and I lose a heck of a lot of weight. Then all of a sudden. I was standing taller. Feeling good, feeling like one hot lady, healthy, dtrong, happy....... so I dumped him :) LOL I didn't keep it all off .... and now three year later I am on Weight Waters because it is more suitable for my life style and I have done great so far. I got -31... then totally slacked and went on a wing and sugar cookie binge and gained back... but I a back on track :) You are capable of so much as long as you put your mind to it :) - BooEve123  800.9 #121 11:48AM
Aww thanks ladies. It's been a crazy few years. My hardest struggle is taking care of myself. I tend to put everyone & everything ahead of myself and I end up suffering of course. I love that feeling of strength and looking forward to shopping & playing & having fun in my life. I miss just putting on whatever i own & not being stuck with the few things that fit right now. I went back on ww and had some issues. I was getting a bit obsessive with counting points so I was stressing and thinking about food all the time. I'm taking a break from that and just trying to eat clean. Lots of veggies, fruits, lean protein & healthy fats. In my last relationship (which I found out he was doing very un-mw things behind my back and I'm refusing to let it break me down!) we ate out all the time. He never wanted to eat at home and it was so tough. Anyways he's gone and I'm going to take some time for myself:) It's great to be back and I really want to lose 30lbs before the dl half:) - supertracy  435.6 #290 3:35PM
just so you know there is something on WW that is called simply filling. I have not done it myself but sounds like what you are talking about... not needing to track. - BooEve123  800.9 #121 5:07PM
I saw that before i canceled but it's pretty much the same thing I'm doing without paying for WW;) - supertracy  435.6 #290 5:28PM
There are obviously many reasons but on top of wanting to look good, I want to fit the clothes I already have. I want to look in the mirror and feel good about myself. I'm hoping by losing weight I can gain energy and get rid of the depressed feeling. Being depressed and not feeling good about myself makes it hard on my marriage cuz I don't want to be touched and it scares me that the hubby will leave me for someone who wants intimacy 😔 - justcallmeKP  108.8 #2964 6:55PM
I have that depressed feeling too. I really think you are stunning lady just fyi;) - BooEve123  800.9 #121 3:02PM
Thanks doll! I feel the same about u. We should go walking again! But not on a sat morning hehe - justcallmeKP   108.8 #2964 3:16PM
LOL! I am ready to get back up walking again whanever you are;) As soon as the move is done next week! Maybe we can meet for a night walk sometime. I will be closer to you now. I am going to be offa sand canyon ont he 5 side:) - BooEve123  800.9 #121 4:09PM
Yay closer to me! DM me and we'll exchange numbers - justcallmeKP   108.8 #2964 5:28PM
Would it be totally vain to say that the reason I want to lose weight is 100% to look good?!?  Of course I want to be healthy, but TBH, that's not the reason I diet... when I look good, I somehow feel better! - msdizmaui  521.5 #226 11:51PM
HaHa! I'm pretty sure we all want to look good. It's so true that we feel better when we look good...in fact, I feel better even from knowing I'm doing things toward that goal! - vernswifevickie  374.1 #377 5:27AM
I started this journey because I wanted to look "hot" in a outfit I was going to wear at a music event in Summer hahha - BooEve123  800.9 #121 4:13PM
Well I'm a Type 2 Diebetic , have High Blood Pressure and I'm sick and tired of being fat. I want to be around to see my grandson grow up. I have been heavy my entire life and I'm just done. You guys give me hope because you understand. So here is where I've landed and my journey begins. - Missymoo  426.6 #302 6:37PM
Good for you! A coworker of mine that is 66 with similar health issues made some major diet changes and she has lost 13 lbs and her blood pressure is so much better. It is possible and you sound like you have the motivation it takes! - LisaMouse7531  409.4 #325 9:49AM
I am so excited for you and your new lifestyle change! It truley is amazing the mental accomplishment it is when you are able to stop taking th high blood pressure medication :) We are here to help you should you ever need it:) - BooEve123  800.9 #121 10:00AM
Missymoo - Congratulations on your decision to take your health into your own hands. These diseases are treatable with the correct nutrition and exercise and you can reverse these issues and be a healthy happy Grandmother with a long and fulfilled life. I encourage you to do a lot of research on the internet about a "whole plant-based diet" (doesn't mean you have to be a vegetarian). There is great information out there. I am a firm believer that what you put on the end of your fork is much more effective than what you find at the bottom of a pill bottle. Good luck with your new lifestyle and let me know if I can be of any help or encouragement. - D55CR  245.7 #1068 2:20PM
Besides getting healthier I want to be able to take care of my hubby. He was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis about 2 months ago and he isn't responding to the drugs. I need to have the strength and energy to do this. - sewgirl  340.5 #444 11:00AM
I'm so sorry about your husband's diagnosis. Taking care of your own health will help you to cope, I'm sure. (((hug))) - vernswifevickie  374.1 #377 7:38PM
Thanks Vickie. - sewgirl  340.5 #444 11:23AM
It's awful to have someone you love diagnosed with this type of disease. He is so blessed to have you there for him. Be sure to take good care of yourself during this difficult time. Sending lots of positive thoughts and prayers your way. - D55CR  245.7 #1068 2:15PM
Sending good thoughts and many prayers.:) - BooEve123  800.9 #121 11:05AM
I am not ashamed to say that in the past I've suffered from eating dissorders and did so for vanity reasons. I was in a place of depression and only became more so when I turned to food binge. I thought weight loss would make things better. I now know that weight loss has to be for you and on your terms. Now I am losing wieght so I am there for my kids and can see them grow into men and women. I have come to know some of you and love you as family. I am happy that all the reasons said are from the heart and for reasons that you've made. @msdizmaui ur HOT no matter what in my eyes @Sewgirl I cannot love you enough @Vickie Only God and Vern love you more than I do right now @Boo thing bout when a man loves a women is no matter how ya look we love you, I'm sure Beau feels the same..Too all you others I give all the encouragement I can so you are able to achieve your goal what ever the reason!!! - Cricket  224.1 #1332 10:48PM
Thank you for your kind words Cricket:)!!!! I agree when I have my one day kids I want to be the healthiest that I can be so that I can run around the park with them:) Watch them grow and be there for them for as long as I can be:) - BooEve123  800.9 #121 11:07AM
@Cricket I love you and your family too! Hope to see you at the reunion. - sewgirl  340.5 #444 9:21PM
As with many that have replied, I started having health issues (liver, headaches, gastro) and was told with each one that weight loss would help. Then I had a heart scare and decided if I wanted to see my kids graduate I'd better actually take my health more seriously. Even after this epiphany it took me a while to do something about it. Then I found out about the Disneyland half marathon and discovered this wonderful app and the Chub33 community and have felt blessed to know you all. I'm currently in a plateau, which is frustrating me to no end; it helps so much to know there are others experiencing (or had experienced) the same thing. You are all so very inspiring, thank you! - Duchess73  295.4 #653 9:30AM
Sorry, forgot to mention my final goal (besides health) is to finish the Disneyland half marathon next year and finally feel as though I've accomplished something. - Duchess73  295.4 #653 9:34AM
:) You will hun!!!! Crossing that finish line was one of the most overwhelming emotions i felt during tink. The first time in my life... I was able to say I DID IT!!!! I stuck to something and followed through :) Sending hugs and lvoe have not seen your name around ehre much! - BooEve123  800.9 #121 11:09AM
:) I know, I've been absent lately - work drama has just taken everything out of me. But, I've been getting on the eliptical almost every night and I joined a hula group for something new, so I'm still plugging away (but it does eat into my precious MouseWait time!). Hope things have been going well for you! - Duchess73  295.4 #653 11:30AM
