Welcome to tonight's Disney Mania Monday! Tonight's discussion question is your earliest childhood Disney memory!
Mine is when I was 8, my parents "were going on vacation" then when we went to the airport with my grandmother we found out we were all going to disneyland! We were so excited! We stayed in the Paradise Pier Hotel back when it was newer;) and I still remember getting make your own pizzas from the pch grill there... Ahhh! Memories! Post your memories to keep up the fun!
I went to WDW with my grand parents when I was 7. I remember being terrified of haunted mansion and having my eyes closed the whole time. Also thinking that the canons on pirates were real. Lol. And I got lost for a couple minutes during a parade. - MrsSke11ington

You know what I remember being super scared of the haunted mansion when I was younger too! I think we may have all been! Anyone who wasn't?? - thebigr 8.1 #7549 9:02PM
I saw that floating candelabra at the beginning and freaked out. Closed my eyes the rest of the ride. Lol. - MrsSke11ington 38.8 #4037 9:08PM
I wasn't too scared, only because we had the record and had it memorized. We thought it was so cool to see the actual house for the first time! - PeachKay 310.6 #557 9:10PM
My early panic attacks always started more when I saw the creepy cast members... I would always cry in the elevator! Not good memories for me :/ - thebigr 8.1 #7549 9:11PM
Earliest memory was driving from Colorado to Florida in a remodeled school bus to WDW. My dad tried to talk us into Six Flags Over Texas and we said no way. But here is the funny part....we get into a line for lodging at Fort Wilderness, but my dad being what he was, had not made reservations. The cm laughed at him, but then a cancellation came thru right while we sat there. We stayed in Fort Wilderness after all :) My dad was so lucky....best vacation ever. - PeachKay

That's awesome! Did you do the tent or lodge style accomodations when you stayed there? - thebigr 8.1 #7549 8:53PM
They had that campground...this was 1977. So we stayed in our tricked out school bus. :) We had this cool CM that drove us to the park on a shuttle looking cart thing ...he was so much fun. It was my first experience with that magical person called a cast member. - PeachKay 310.6 #557 9:04PM
Awesome! I would love to stay in a tricked out school bus! Sounds totally awesome:) - thebigr 8.1 #7549 9:07PM
It was cool and dorky at the same time. :) We never had the chance to paint it, so it was still school bus yellow. We broke down on New Mexico and had to pull over, warning flashers on. When we looked outside after a few minutes, there was a line of cars waiting. They thought we were letting off children. :) It was this trip that made me a huge fan of "the road trip!" - PeachKay 310.6 #557 9:32PM
I vaguely remember seeing the Pocahontas show on my first trip! And the Lion King parade and I remember getting my picture taken with Belle and the Beast, and the Beast scared me haha. I was 3! - michelIe

Age 10. Drove from 750 miles away. I remember my Dad who was not a "ride" kind of guy, liked Pirates so much, we went 3 times in a row! Also Tom Sawyers Island was awsome for a 10 year old boy!! - Stumickey

Let's see Mickey dancing with me when I was two I only know of that since I have seen the video. The other one is when I went to goofys kitchen when I was smaller for my birthday with my two cousins and I was excited to have the characters come and sit at the table with me the only part that was messed up was there was so much dessert for breakfast and my mom told me I could only choose one dessert - princessVanessa

In 2003 when I was 8, I did my first parade, dancing Rocking Around the Christmas Tree with other Dance Studios. I finally felt what the performers felt like on the regular parades that night :) it was fantastic! - Ain1derland

My first time going to Disneyland I was absolutely terrified of going on the Matterhorn and the Haunted Mansion. My older sister was there to help me overcome my fear or the yeti and the "ghosts" and I eventually went on the ride. After my first time on the ride, I wanted to go on again, and again. Now, I absolutely love both of them and is always a must when I'm in the parks. - cheeselesspizza

Agreed! Those rides are classics!:) - thebigr 8.1 #7549 9:28PM
Not my very first DL memory, but definitely one of the earliest...my family planned a trip to Sea World while we were visiting my cousins in OC. My sisters and I were not super excited about going to Sea World b/c we wanted to go to Disneyland so bad! We were driving there and all of a sudden we look out the window and see the "Happiest Place On Earth" sign! My parents had tricked us...best surprise ever!! - Ms.Disney
